Coffin Golf Club
Played On 09/21/2023Coffin is really a golfing gem for us not-ready-for-primetime golfers
Not a regular, but more of an occasional long time Coffin golfer. While many of the tee boxes are atrocious, the bunkers are less-than acceptable, the 2 former bunkers on 12 which are now treated as 'ponds' are plain stupid and the cart path is reminiscent of the pot-hole infested streets of Marion County, the rest of the course (the fairways, the roughs, the slow greens) is surprisingly in good shape. If you hit from the yellow-stripe tees its a challenging course (and that is why I hit from the old-guy tee where I might be able to crack 80). But what a wonderful track. Is there a more spectacular spot to launch a drive than the 5th tee (do not hit right or near right anywhere on this hole)? And don't forget the very, very reasonable rate (for seniors) of only $25, 18 hole, riding. Woof!
Pebble Brook Golf Club - North Course
Played On 09/05/2022PB North is a great course, and priced right
Have made the North course my main play this summer. It's well designed and well maintained. And other than a bit of chewed up tee boxes and some less-than-sandy bunkers, I'd say PB has handled the summer of 22 quite nicely. And the rate, well, PB don't go raising it anytime soon...say this fall when I'll be back in FL. :)
Elwood Golf Links
Played On 07/05/2022A tale of two 9's
The extremely nice guy in the office was right: its a tale of two 9's. The front 9 was a very unimaginative, old-school meadow course which was generally in good shape and had decent greens & traps...I shot well. I then asked the guy in front of me at the 10th tee box, 'where are the hills?' Well, he retorts, the back 9 has a bunch, and he was right. Wow, was it challenging, especially the 12th hole. Again, the course was generally in good shape, although a few greens were a little iffy. The back 9 kicked my a--, but a good kicking. Oh yeah, the staff could not have been nicer and the beer was only $3.00. Party!
Eagle Pines Golf Club
Played On 06/29/2022Very Pleasant Round
This is not a top tier track, but a well maintained every-man course which is very affordable. tee boxes and greens were well attended. Fairways were a little long, although I'm sure that is a function of the hot weather. Not the most challenging or scenic course around, but hey, it cost under $30. In fact, the only thing keeping me from playing regularly is the 55 minute drive from my hood.
Prairie View Golf Club
Played On 06/19/2022Very good course
We like Prairie View the best of all the North side courses. Really can't complain about anything, other than it was a tad slow.
Grandview Golf Course
Played On 05/25/2018Great day playing a very nice couse.
Grandview, a typical muni course, is surprisingly well maintained. Its a short course which plays really easy, has a fair amount of elevation change, but very little water and virtually no sand. Which means you can score really, really well.
The Fort Golf Resort
Played On 09/08/2013The Fort is the Fort, which is good.
The Fort is one of the more unique courses around.....long, no houses, lots of hills and a real "old feel." Course looks tougher than it is if you're not greedy .... But I'm here to 'play golf' so I'm in trouble a lot. Holes 5, 6 and 18 are my favorite. Some of the greens were a little chewed, but it's a municipal for crying out loud, so it's more than acceptable. If you haven't played the Fort, you've missed a real gem.
Bear Slide Golf Club
Played On 8/24/2013Course was in one of the best conditions I've seen this year.
Played here 7-8 times but this was the best condition the course has been in since it was new. Pristene is a good word for it. Since I played well, I loved the course and round., although intitutional knowledge is important for a good round. 12th hole may be one of my favorite. 1th may be my least favorite.
The Trophy Club
Played On 8/19/2012Great course, well priced,
Really enjoyed the course. Interesting but fair. Easy to get to.
Purgatory Golf Club
Played On 8/4/2012Expensive for what you got
Our impressions were: (i) greens fee was high for this level of course, (ii) the course itself was just 'ok' but (iii) the restroom on the course were awful (playing with my bride who really was taken back by their condition) Don't plan to return
Thank you for your review. We will pass along your experience and feedback to our team at Pebble Brook Golf Club - North Course. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
