Cross Creek Golf Course
Played On 09/04/2023Excellent value, pace of play only issue
I've played Cross Creek many times, and typically know what to expect. It's an amazing value for a course that is in good shape as a whole. No bunkers, relatively thick patches of grass as a defense. Greens are always smooth; slow uphill, fast down. Lots of doglegs to the left, so if you play a draw you'll be happier than if you hit a fade. Fairways in good shape. There's a couple of holes out there (4 and 15) that it's very difficult to get a tee shot to land in the fairway- both holes could probably be gutted and redone and everyone would probably be a bit happier. It was pretty close to a 5 hour round yesterday, which can occasionally be the case at Cross Creek but it's difficult to complain about a course for $30 or so.

Played On 10/16/2022Challenging course, yet still pretty great!
Played Echelon on a perfect fall day, and enjoyed the round even though the course kicked our entire groups' tails. We were a 7, 12, and 14 handicap, and all shot in the 90s. It would definitely help to play this course a few times to get a feel for where you can miss, as there are lots of elevation changes and a few blind shots. Course was in spectacular shape and was very well-maintained. The staff were all friendly as well. It's just a very tough course that will frustrate above average golfers if they're not on their A-game.
Links at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort
Played On 06/02/2022Great course with amazing views.
Course has a fantastic, fun, but occasionally challenging layout. Fairways and tees were in great shape, and the greens were fun despite being aerated and sanded recently. Prepare to lose at least a few balls to the water, as there are ponds or beautiful ocean/bay views on most holes. Good cost, especially compared to other courses around here.
Wailea Golf Club - Emerald Course
Played On 07/09/2015Despite rain, extremely enjoyable experience.
Got through two holes before the skies opened up. Went back to the clubhouse to try and wait it out and grab a bite to eat. The staff was extremely accommodating and helpful the entire time, and we managed to get back out on the course within a few minutes of the rain stopping. Spectacular views, particularly on the front 9, and the course was in immaculate shape. although a bit pricey, I'd be perfectly willing to put up the money for this course rather than play another course half the price twice. It's absolutely worth the money if you want to play one of the most amazing courses you will ever play in your lifetime. Even with the heavy rain, the course dried out very quickly. Very impressive facilities and modernized golf carts with GPS inside. Only complaints would be hitting off the mats at the range, and the range balls could use an upgrade. When the only complaint is the range balls though, you know it's an outstanding place. Would recommend to anyone visiting Maui. 10/10
The Dunes At Maui Lani Golf Course
Played On 07/07/2015Decent for price, not ideal Hawaiian golf
Course was nothing special. Greens overall in poor shape compared to what I'm used to in Atlanta, but the course was similar to most average courses in the southeast. For $60 bucks, I'd much rather play somewhere nicer and double the price than spend a day in Maui playing this course for $60. The staff were very polite and nice, food was totally fine, but the course was simply nothing special. Don't expect ocean views or anything more than an average golf course. If you're on a really tight budget, it's adequate, but if you're willing to spend a little more and play elsewhere, that would be much more enjoyable.
