Desert Aire Golf Course
Played On 02/06/2013Flat layout and would play extremely easy if not for the giant trees on most holes.
I play this course every so often when I can't find anywhere else to play. It's a fun place to play for the money, but could use some renovation. The fairways are a bit hard, the greens are in fair shape, and some of the tee boxes have tree roots bulging them up. It is the cold season here so dormant grass and hard frozen ground are common in the area. One of the best qualities is that it can be fun for all skill levels and is a good course to play if you are just starting out as it does not play that long.
Dos Lagos Golf Course
Played On 02/01/2013Tough mountain layout makes accuracy a must.
This place was great for the money. I got a good deal to play in the afternoon and was impressed with the quality of the course. A couple of the greens could use some work but only because of uneven grass, no patches or dry spots. The fairways are narrow and undulating making driver accuracy imperative. It also has an interesting variety of holes from the blue tees where I played. Some short par 3's and one that was 230, as well as a a 460 yard par 4 and 610 yard par 5, making you play a wide variety of shots. The only complaint I had was some extremely slow people in front of us but luckily they left after hole 11 or 12.
Sand Canyon Country Club
Played On 01/25/2013Amazing course in good shape and a difficult mountain layout.
I got a great deal due to weather on a golfnow hot deal. I was supposed to play Valley but they put me out on the mountain for my benefit as I was a single and there were a few foursomes on the Valley. I was able to play unhindered the entire round and finished in less than 3 hours. The layout requires accuracy off the tee or else penalties start racking up. It ended up raining lightly for the last 5 holes but I was able to shoot my best round ever at this course, an 80. The fairways were in good shape and the greens were great, was one of the most enjoyable rounds I've had in months.
Rancho Vista Golf Course
Played On 01/23/2013Good course for any skill level, not overly challenging but not too easy.
I play here once or twice a week. Usually get a good deal on golfnow or standard twilight rate. Pace of play can vary from less than 3 hours to over 4 depending on the people out in front of you. In the past couple months some renovations have been done and the course is in great shape other than a few fairways that have duck damage. Greens are fast and in great shape and most of the fairways are very nicely kept up as well.
