Great Rock Golf Club
Played On 08/14/2019What A Shame
So sad to see one of the prettiest most interesting courses on Long Island in such awful shape. We got a deal for $25 per person so we figured we’d give it another try. It was in pretty bad shape two years ago. Considering it takes an hour to get there, even $25 wasn’t worth it. As someone mentioned....play it before it closes for good......what a shame!
Dunwoodie Golf Course
Played On 10/22/2017Short and fun
Played on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in late October. the course was in GREAT shape especially considering how much play it must get (since it’s a public course) and how late in the season it was. 4 1/5 hour round is not bad! As mentioned in other reviews, it’s a short course but challenging enough for my 17 handicap husband and not too difficult for me....NOT a 17 handicapper. No one mentions this, but take a second to notice the view of the NYC skyline from the 18th tee box.
Great Rock Golf Club
Played On 09/05/2016VERY disappointed.
My husband and I love this course, it's one of the more interesting layouts on Long Island. Lots of changes in elevation and beautiful scenery. Friendly and helpful staff. It's definetly worth the trip. THAT Being said. We were so very disappointed today. The course was in absolutely terrible condition from tee to green. ..every hole. The crabgrass has taken over. We fear it's going to go under unless a ton of time and money is spent to bring it back. Would hate to lose this gem of a course...especially since so much time and money was spent on a new restaurant.
We appreciate your feedback and thank you for noting the layout and the scenery here at Great Rock. We are in the midst of improving our conditions, sorry to hear you did not have the best experience. We are working hard to revive the conditions here at Great Rock.
Hi. Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course is important to us. We are working to get everything up to par. We have projects ongoing to recover the fairways and greens. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game, and we will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Great Rock. We hope to see you again soon.
