Whisper Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/28/2022Whisper Creek
I have not been out to Whisper Creek in over a year. I used to frequent it regularly, but getting an early tee time was near impossible and the pace of play especially on the weekend used to be 5+ hours.
We got an early time on Sunday and got to the third hole and hit a down pour for about 15 minutes. I think this scared alot of people away and made it clear sailing for us the rest of the day. We finished as a foursome in less than 4 hours. The course with the exception of the traps were in great condition. The traps were completely unplayable. And this had nothing to do with the rain. There simply was no sand in them. This course could be mint if they just fixed that issue. Its a challenging track and has a great balance between target golf and grip em and rip em holes. I hope the next time I come the pace is good and the traps are filled. It will keep me coming back more than once a year.

If you are looking to play a more traditional course with trees and water. Orange Tree is a very nice layout. Very forgiving fairways. Bunkers need work. But beyond that a good course for locals and someone not wanting to spend $200 a round on to play.

The key to this course is being in the first few groups of the day. Otherwise you are looking at 5 hour rounds. Today the course was in great shape. Didn’t see anyone until the 14th hole. Course was generally in great shape except for 8 and 18 which was cart path only. But it’s to be expected with all the rain. I hope the exposed drain tile in some of the bunkers is a sign that whisper Creek is working on the drainage. Green we’re rolling and holding well. Rough was at a manageable length but again with the rain it’s almost impossible to keep up.
Bonnie Dundee Golf Club

Bonnie Dundee has come a long way since I started playing here 7 years ago. The greens are still fairly simple. But the fairways and rough are very well maintained. This is a great course for high handicap players. Plenty of holes with the potential to score on. For me this is a great course for getting out and playing a quick 9 or 18. I have always been able to get done in under 4 hours for 18. Fastest was 1:45.

It's Sunday and its 75 degrees out. This is a busy golf day. I get it. But don't put a walking foursome in the middle of 4 foursomes. And no Marshall? The cart girl knew that they were playing slow. In the "red" as she viewed her GPS. Then to top it off I tried to pass these tortugas up at the turn and there was a wedding taking pictures on the tenth green for 15 minutes. I gave up and went home. A three hour 9 hole round. This is a great challenging course and for the money with the new cart technology it's great! But you guys have to keep pace going. I shouldn't have to check work email on every tee because I'm waiting that long.
