SugarTree Golf Club
Played On 09/13/2020Going Downhill...
Well, very disappointed with almost every aspect of this course.
Prepayment online was required, which is fine, but what happens when someone in your group bails?
Guy is the proshop did his job, just didn't go out of his way to be nice or helpful.
Tee markers haven't been mowed or moved in days, so the par 3 tee boxes are beat to crap.
The fairways are pretty good. The rough is sometimes rough, sometimes dirt, sometimes rocks.
My biggest complaint today was the greens, they were pathetic, almost unplayable - see pic.
They were not mowed this morning, soaking wet, ant hills everywhere. Even when they dried out a little by 11am, they were very slow and bumpy.
I'm not a big fan of recent changes to par 4's and 5's - #4 is now a par 5 that played about 420 yards from the blue tees and #5 is now a par 4 that plays 439 yards.
No cart service on the course on a Sunday.
Employees in the snack shack were not wearing masks, and told everyone entering that masks were not required. This is a state mandate folks, for every county with more than 20 Covid cases - Hood county stats indicate 932 total cases and 25 deaths.
Coyote Ridge Golf Club
Played On 06/05/2020Overall, pretty good.
We played on a Friday at 9am.
Pace was pretty good, just over 4 hours.
Range balls and a hot dog, brat or burger lunch were included, which was great. Cart service came by twice.
The layout is good, maybe a bit short from the blue tees.
My only complaint would be the greens were a little slow and bumpy, but definitely playable.
Bear Creek Golf Club - West Course
Played On 09/05/2019A little disappointed
Played the east course at 8am, not very busy on a Thursday.
The greens were punched a couple of weeks ago, almost fully recovered, but still a little bumpy.
The tee boxes and fairways were good, but not great. Every other course I have played lately is in exceptional shape due to the rain we have had this summer, but not this course.
The bunkers are horrific and not even playable...they haven't been touched in months and are just dirt.
Tour 18 Dallas
Played On 12/02/2018Almost Great
Conditions were pretty good, tee boxes and fairways were good for this time of year. Greens are almost back to normal, however, still a little inconsistent. Dormant and painted, they are too speedy for some pin placements; the 4 footer downhill turns into a 20 footer coming back. A couple of uphill putts will come right back to you.
No cart girl on a Sunday.
Food & drinks are a little overpriced in the bar.
Iron Horse Golf Course
Played On 10/07/2018Improvements Needed
First, let me say that I am an Arcis Prime member, and I play Fossil Creek and Iron Horse frequently. Iron Horse has been in great shape all summer, and I use their driving range at least once a week. However, my most recent visit was disappointing. Tee boxes were rather poor, it was evident most of the markers had not been moved in several days. Fairways were average with several bare spots. Greens were slow and also had some bare spots. Bunkers had not been touched since the rains last month and were mostly dirt. Snack stop (at the train car) was not open all day. We had lunch after our round: no menus available, 2 of our 4 orders were wrong, dining service was below par.
Hawk's Creek Golf Club
Played On 10/06/2018Great Shape
Played Sat 10/6 at 8am.
Tee boxes and fairways were very good.
Greens, somewhat firm, but rolled smooth and fast.
Sand was recently replaced, and is perfect.
Overall, this course is in outstanding shape.
The golf carts are in need of replacement soon.
Tangle Ridge Golf Club
Played On 04/08/2018Good Track
Course conditions were very good, pretty green for this time of year. Fairways and tee boxes are filled in, bunkers have plenty of sand. Greens rolled pretty well, but a touch firm and slower than I would like.
Service was very good as well, however, no drink cart on the course the entire day.
Whitestone Golf Course
Played On 03/24/2018Conditions not up to par
I like the layout, challenging par 5's.
The price and availability of tee times is a plus.
Most of the fairways are hard pan, except for the areas with standing water.
Greens are pretty slow and bumpy.
They have given up on the bunkers, they are unplayable.
Iron Horse Golf Course
Played On 12/01/2017Awesome Greens
Played on Friday afternoon, Arcis prime rate was $18.
Course was in great shape, the greens are near perfect and very fast.
It appears they overseeded the tee boxes and fairways, so they are lush and green, however, there was some standing water in places. This course has a great variety of holes and is always one of my favorites.
Horseshoe Bay Resort - Apple Rock Course
Played On 10/14/2017First Class Golf Trip
We had 12 guys, played 4 rounds in 3 days.
Two bedroom Paseo condos were perfect for us - everyone got their own bed and bathroom. Ram Rock was being renovated, so we played Apple and Slick twice each. Courses were in good shape and enjoyed both layouts. I've never seen that many deer in one area. The HB team was outstanding: Golf pro Eric came out to say hello and provided us with group scorecards for each round; Chase was terrific at organizing our weekend and answering any/all questions; thanks to Angelie and Shelley for keeping our rooms and dinner reservations straight. We'll definitely be back.
Whitestone Golf Course
Played On 01/21/2017Decent
Exactly what I expected for January golf. The course has a pretty good layout, grass is dormant, greens were actually fairly receptive and smooth. I'm not a huge fan of gas carts, and they removed the GPS, but this course is well worth $35.
Coyote Ridge Golf Club
Played On 08/12/2016Fantastic Conditions
Played at 10am on Friday, high temp was 107, course was nearly empty. GolfNow deal for $25 was a steal. The conditions were outstanding; the greens are perfect, maybe the best in DFW right now.
Hi SeanR87,
Thank you for playing at Coyote Ridge. It is so great to hear that you enjoyed the conditions of the course and consider our greens the best in DFW! We hope to see you again soon!
Tour 18 Dallas
Played On 06/28/2016Slow Greens
I like the layout and they have some occasional good deals.
Conditions of the fairways, tee boxes, bunkers was very good.
However, the greens were not mowed, so it was like putting on fringe.
It was apparent they didn't even mow them that morning.
Range is closed on Tuesdays. No cart girl. No one at the snack shack.
Cowboys Golf Club
Played On 01/27/2015Best in DFW
Played 1/27/15, and the course was in great shape. It is January, so grass is not growing right now, but the fairways were overseeded and as good as can be expected. The greens were smooth and fast. I played Colonial two days prior to Cowboys, and Cowboys is in better condition. Even with food included, it's tough to justify $200 for a round of golf, but in my opinion, this place is the best daily fee course in DFW.
Tangle Ridge Golf Club
Played On 12/13/2014Good track
Some tight lies as you would expect this time of year, but overall very good condition. The greens were fast and smooth.
Revere Golf Club - Lexington Course
Played On 6/28/2013Very scenic.
Very scenic, good conditions, great value if you can find a HotDeal from GolfNow.
SugarTree Golf Club
Played On 5/19/2013Greens were fantastic.
Good, challenging course, lots of trees, greens were in great shape.
