Blue Rock Springs Golf Course - East
Played On 04/07/2024Good course, no driving range til 7am
I wish golf now would alert you to driving range closures, I show up to an early round without any warm up and that’s always a bad way to start a round. Then we get charged with a 10 dollar deposit for our cart keys, very odd especially since they had cart guys working all morning taking carts. Course was great, pace was excellent but we did tee off at 630 am. Bar and food is very limited but gets the job done. Absolutely no water on the course and the staff wasn’t friendly or very professional. But if your thing is golf this pace is a gem.
Laguna Seca Golf Club
Played On 03/10/2024Hidden gem amongst top notch courses
Don’t get me wrong, if you around the Monterrey peninsula there are plenty of other better courses. But if you wanna save and enjoy a tough enough course with scenic views everywhere, look no further. During the round I figured off season, shorter yardage and cheap green fees for a weekend twilight would be run of the mill. Boy was I wrong, felt like a country club. A little imperfect as far a manicured things go and the greens had been punched probably 2 weeks before we played but aside from that everting else was great. Good range separated from the course and clubhouse was top notch. Only complaint would be there was three holes that were almost the same and not much of a walking course because of all the hills but if you like a cart and want a scenic course that won’t kill your wallet this is a great course to visit.
Spring Valley Golf Course
Played On 03/15/2024Peak conditions
Spring valley might not be the longest or the coolest course off the tee boxes, but for a muni it’s in amazing shape right now and if you can avoid the wind it should be a very enjoyable day. Great walk and at its rate you can’t beat it, it almost looks like a country club.
Cherry Island Golf Course
Played On 07/21/2023A gem
Fairways and bunkers were great. Most tee boxes were excellent except for a couple. Greens were amazingly crafted by staff but the regulars never fix ball marks so heads up and bring a divot tool. Bathroom on the course are clean and the course has a very peaceful and spacious environment. For the price point I’d make the drive from the Bay Area.
Spring Valley Golf Course
Played On 02/23/2023Friendly course
You can’t go wrong with spring valley, not a super long course but still challenging at times. Decently maintained and things move alone well. They’ve been working on their driving range for the last four years it seems like but once they get that running the course will be perfect for your mid to high handicappers
Monarch Bay Golf Club - Tony Lema Course
Played On 12/22/2022Good course, winter conditions didn’t help.
A couple tee boxes were uneven. Fairways and rough have seen better days but the greens were fantastic. Pace was slow. I think they set people up 8 minutes apart so the round lasted almost five hours. Don’t play this course after 3, the wind can be brutal
Sunnyvale Municipal Golf Course
Played On 09/11/2022Defiantly a muni
Tee boxes were uneven and poorly positioned. Fairways were decent but if you were off there were so many patched up gofer holes and dirt. Greens were actually the best part of the course, ball rolled well and very receptive to a decent shot. Pace of play could have been great if it wasn’t for the group in front who were about two holes behind.
Regulation at Las Positas Golf Course
Played On 06/19/2022Great layout
Enjoyable from every tee box, helps to know the course a little but overall challenging yet fun place.
Callippe Preserve Golf Course
Played On 03/28/2022Worth the drive
A little out of the way for most Bay Area golfers but this course is easily one of the best public courses in the area. Greens and fairways were perfect. Bunkers were wet the day I played and still better than most, tee boxes were fine. Take advantage of the front because the back nine is very difficult.
The Metropolitan Golf Links
Played On 03/13/2022Spring Valley Golf Course
Played On 01/15/2022Great value, peaceful course.
There’s not a lot wrong with this course. Not terribly long so it’s friendly for scoring. Greens run great and fairways, although dry at times are still well maintained.
Bay View Golf Club
Played On 10/16/2022Steady improvement
Course is getting better on every level. New tee boxes coming in on certain holes and the fairways are all taken care of. Course is still tough and narrow at times but fair and true. Only issue I had was that the course had punched their greens and didn’t notify golf now nor did anyone in the pro shop tell me.
Bay View Golf Club
Played On 03/25/2022Course on the rise
Since new management took over bay view has improved so much. Greens are close to pure, fairways now have plenty green grass and all the tee boxes are level and clean. Their prime time rates are still a bit pricey but I believe in a year or so it will be plenty worth it. Practice area is great and allows grass tees on the weekends, no drivers but if you don’t hit too far they usually don’t mind.
Sharp Park Golf Course
Played On 11/06/2021Good for what you pay for
Greens were very bumpy and no one I mean no one repairs ball marks. Some tee boxes were awful and the bunkers need work and sand. Fairways weren’t cut too well but fine. Still enjoyed the round but if your looking for a well maintained course this might not be your first choice.
Sharp Park Golf Course
Played On 11/06/2021Needs love
Couldn’t get a putt right because of all the bumps and imperfections. Some tee boxes look like they had been through war. Bunkers were bad. Still an enjoyable walk.
San Jose Municipal Golf Course
Played On 08/28/2021Great for a muni.
The only issues I had with the course was rough around the greens was crazy long and there was a lot of choppy areas just off the fairway. Greens were great, and fairways were very nice for a muni. Tee box’s weren’t perfect but no major issues on most of them. Probably the best bang for your buck in the South Bay and maybe even the east bay and peninsula.
Corica Park - South Course
Played On 01/02/2019Great course not at its prime
Unfortunately there was a frost delay so play was slower then my first visit but the employees did their best to get people out quickly off the back and front 9. Course has taken a beating and players don’t take care of the course like they should. All and all the course was enjoyable but there are repair jobs on a couple holes that can leave a nervous golfer shooting over workers while putting them in harms way. Once the bad weather passes the south course at Chuck Corica will be the best overall public course in the east bay.
Brentwood Golf Club - Creekside/Hillside Course
Played On 10/28/2018Good weekend riund
Cheap, you get what you pay for. Not enough green grass but greens were good. There should be a course guide for new players cause I lost two balls just not knowing what was around the corner. Very quick round for a weekend.
Summitpointe Golf Course
Played On 07/22/2018You get what you pay for but this course does challenge you
Summit is the kind of place you play on the weekends when you wanna save a buck and play quick. Early morning weekend rounds can be done is less than 3 hours with a cart so to be able to get 18 in for the price and time is more than worth it. Conditions could be improved but it’s cheap so you gotta figure it’s not Augusta.
