Good course set in a beautiful location

I have played Colne Valley a couple of times as I use to live in Colne Engaine.
The course is set in a beautiful valley location with great views. The golf course itself is in good condition, with very few bad parts and GUR.
The course has a good layout and has a number of different style of holes which makes it interesting to play. It's tight in places and requires course management.

On this occasion, the greens were extremely hard and not receptive at all. Despite still being lush and green, a ball thrown in with a PW would bounce and roll on another 30yds past the flag due to this. I learnt this after a few holes and played up short. Coupled with the undulating greens, this made for a real test of my short game and a score card killer.
Maybe, a little watering would help?

Overall, a positive experience at Colne Valley. The view from the Club house is tops.

Excellent Condition

This was my first time playing at Braintree and I wasn't disappointed. The golf course as a whole was in immaculate condition from tee to green despite heavy rain the day before. The green were quick and a tester for my putting due to undulations as difficult to read and get line/pace right, but a real test which is good.
The course as a whole is not overly long, but features some testing hole. There does seem to be a lot of 'dog legs'!!!
It wasn't busy on the day we play and we got round quite quickly.

Overall, a great golf course set in lovely countryside especially the 18th which is next to a lovely church.

I recommend this course and will play here again.
