North Shore Golf Course
Played On 06/06/2023Always a fun course
Great course, a few of the greens can be challenging.
Overall course is in great condition coming out of a very long dry season.

I play this course usually once a month but had not played since July.
The recent reviews had me a bit concerned as it was in pretty good shape in July.
The greens are in very good shape, There are some t-boxes where the grass is sparse but it was clear they are being worked on. In regards to the conditions of the fairways, particularly the back 9 while there are bad spots or sections due to damage by the various wildlife, when my ball landed in any of those areas i treated it like "ground under repair" and moved the ball to one side or the other. I did not experience any fairway that was unplayable, and only had to move my ball two or three times. Harmony is one of the more expensive courses I play in my rotation, but today's experience would not influence me to remove it from my course list.

Overall the course is in great shape. Some sand and the rakes could be added back to the traps. The greens and fairways were being aerated so that had effect on roll and putting. It was indicated both at the course and on the golf pass site when I booked. So it was no surprise. That said it was overall a great round, once you ignored the putting obstacles

Overall course was in good shape considering how dry it has been. Some Tee boxes need to be reseeded.
Pace of play was excellent we were able to clear a foursome early in the round and had clear sailing until about the 12th hole where we ran into a group of four each with their own carts. Very slow did not offer to allow us to play through and we discovered that they jumped on the back nine ahead of us. They also each parked their carts on the edge of each green. We learned from the ranger that they were members and to his frustration do as they please. I would warn them that damage to the green areas is only going to come back on them in terms of higher repair costs and loss of non-member income on the course. It's a shame they have no respect for their own facility. Otherwise it was an enjoyable round.

The course overall was in great shape. After two days of very heavy rain there were very few wet pots or standing water. Some of the tee boxes could use some care but the greens, and fairways were in excellent shape. Sand traps needed to be "deep" racked out as the rains had packed them pretty solid. This course like most needs to put the rakes back out with the traps as well, it has been pretty well established that COVID is not transmitted that way.

Course is always fun and the amount of water on the back nine always offers some challenges.
Two minor criticisms.
There are some bad/bare spots on more than a couple of the greens, not sure if it is due to disease or watering.
The other was that they allowed someone to go over to the back nine just before the early morning groups made the turn. That person slowed down play for at least three groups behind him. There is not a ranger, at least during the week, so the course may not have even been aware that it happened.

Played On 04/01/2021Allways worth the drive
Harmony is a bit off from the rest of the Orlando area but well worth the drive down (about 30-40 minutes from the airport/Lake Nona area.
Only concern was that the wild pigs have been busy on sections of the fairways. If your ball falls into one of those torn up areas play it like ground under repair. It is not widespread but very obvious.
Not much the staff can do except to repair those areas afterword.

Played On 02/10/2021Foggy Start
Very foggy to start out, difficult to follow where balls went, requiring some hunting. Overall the course is in good shape but there are some wet spots that are pretty soft. Also several areas where some repair work seems unfinished. Of particular note would be on the 12 and 13 holes where there are some low ditch areas crossing the fairways that need to be filled in and grassed. Both are near the greens so can be played over.

Course is in the best shape i have seen it since I started playing it several years ago. Greens are in good shape as are most of the tee boxes.
I was off early so really I had another single tee off before me, once he cleared on that firsdt hole he never held me up and no one was pushing me either and was able to play in 2.5 hours. The one hold up was that when i made the turn for the back nine a very slow pair of golfers had jumped on the course. They did wait at the 11th tee for me to play through so only a minor slow down. I'm sure that groups behind me also had to play through.

Played On 12/31/2020Too slow
Got combined with a twosome that had no concept of ready golf talked to each other before each shot a lot of time sizing up each putt. 2 hours to play the front 9 to add to that they were playing music out of their cart. As I was running out of time I finally just picked up early on the back nine and headed to the clubhouse to pack and leave. The end to a perfect 2020

Course was OK there were several wet, soft or muddy spots in the fairways.
OK to work around those. The biggest problem was that the greens were heavily sanded, about an eight of an inch or more layer of sand on each green. This made putting with any accuracy impossible. I would estimate that it cost at least one stroke every hole unless you chipped it into the "gimme" range. many of the courses in the area have been either sanding or putting some other material on the greens for the past month. Would be nice to know but I enjoyed the round anyway.

Played On 09/04/2018One of my worst days on a golf course.
Maybe the day after a three day weekend. I had an early tee time and thought no one in front of me and the next group was going to be about 30minutes behind. It started on the first hole where as I am about to make my approach shot to the green headlights come from the left side and are heading toward me. It turned out to be a goler in a cart who proceeded down the fairway to the clubhouse. Next after a few uneventful holes as I am teeing off on the 4th hole three women all in their own golf carts pull up and inform me they are playing through. They drive past skip that hole and maybe the next, but while playing that hole yet another single in a cart drives through. I get to the fifth hole to wait not for that group but the mowers for the tees and green. I wait 5-10minutes for them to clear on holes 5,6 and 7. Finally at the 8th hole they let me through but have a loud conversation behind me while I am trying to tee off. Now that group 30 minutes behind is getting in sight, but through 8-12 i am able to put some distance between them and me. Until 13 where I catch up to the four women each in their own golf carts. They would drive to one ball watch while the one hit then go to the next ball, all the way down the fairway. This occurred for the rest of the course. "Ready golf" was obviously not a concept. But oh they did get a small gap on me at 17 because at 16 the mowers jumped on the green as soon as the women cleared so I again I stood there in the fairway waiting for them to clear. Still caught up to the women at the green on 17! This is usually a course that plays pretty smoothly not sure what happened this day and based on previous experience this is not the norm.

Played On 03/27/2018Can be a tough course
The course has a lot of water and environmental hazards, some tight spots and tricky doglegs. Makes for a challenge to control where your ball goes. If you have a slice or hook, make sure you have some extra balls! It makes the course a lot of fun and there are a lot of risk-reward options on most holes. The fairways are dry and not a lot of grass to hit off of which can add to the ball control issue, but this time of year that is not unusual. It is an older course and work on it continues. We were told that they are going to shut down this summer and redo all of the greens. While I hate to have a course unavailable for several months I look forward to improved greens, T boxes etc. For the cost it is worth a round before the shutdown occurs.

Don't misunderstand me. I like the course, the staff are friendly and helpful, the facilities are fine. The problem is the membership. Complaints about this course is frequently "overbooking". The problem is that the members feel they can come on the course when and where they please which makes it appear to be overbooked. On this occasion, (similar to my last two time on the course). We were finishing on the first hole when two members each in their own carts pulled up and informed us they were jumping ahead. They told us "they always have the first t-time (we booked it a week earlier) and therefore were going ahead. They proceeded to tee off and we waited while they moved out of our way. While we were playing the second hole another pair of carts each with a single passed us through the trees. We figured they were joining up with the first two. No, they jumped between the previous group and us.
This very situation happened when i played the course the last two times.
The starter is very aware, and apologizes but it is clear he has no control or authority over the members. While I hate to remove this course from my rotation, enough is enough. If you are willing to put up with that kind of behavior on the course then go in knowing. It's a shame but I can no longer recommend it.

Played On 03/06/2018Avoid Tuesdays
Course is in good condition. A few bad spots on some greens but there is evidence that work is being done.
We arrived with one of the first t-times to find the parking lot full and carts disappearing fast. Asked what was going on and the starter told us that the "men's league is every Tuesday. That's Ok but they basically integrated us into that large group. That lead to a slow morning on the course. I know better now and will avoid Tuesday mornings. Surprised those times are not blocked off. Still great course to play and I recommend it except Tuesdays.
Thank you for taking the time to review us. Your feedback is valuable, and we will but the bunker rakes back soon. We look forward to delivering you excellent service again soon. Celebration Golf Club thanks you!
