Eagle Creek Golf Club
Played On 07/09/2016Course was not at its best
I have played this course many times and love the greens. This time they were a bit spotty because of weeds, but not too bad. The fringes were terrible. There was a combination of weed stumps and bare dirt on most of the greens nearly all the way around. Fairways and tee boxes were okay. Bunkers were mostly mud.
Overall conditioning was the worst I have ever seen it. I have played 6 different golf course in the Orlando area recently. They were all in really good shape, so there is just no excuse for this one to be so bad. I doubt I will return until I hear some good reports. It tends to be pricey but usually worth it. It is a second or third tier course in its current condition. Too bad.

The course was okay but I just did not care for the layout. There are too many blind shots. When you just aim at a spot in front of you, there is no feedback. Then you have to locate the ball. Given the quirks in the layout, that is not an easy task. The rough or severe slopes into ravines make it slow going. The $6 yardage book is necessary. A laser is a big help.
Conditioning was fair to poor, but the time of year is a big contributor. I cannot offer an opinion on putting because the greens were aerated. That was not mentioned prior to booking or reflected in the rate. The bunkers were unfair in that the sand is so soft that the ball plugs deeply every time. The course was a mix of spotty overseed, weeds, and dormant Bermuda. That made it very clumpy. I am sure this will improve with time. There was evidence of weed control attempts.
Houses and OB are very close to the fairways although I did not get close to any. So it may be that the routing keeps this from being much of a problem. I think it would be impossible to walk the course. I don't know if it is allowed. There are some steep down slopes and hairpin curves on the cart paths. I would not let a teenager drive the cart.
There is a good mix of length in the holes, so you use all of your clubs. I like that. I guess if you played the course regularly, you might get used to the quirks. I just did not like it enough to go back.
This course is located in an upscale retirement community. It was not near fully booked at 8:30 on Saturday morning. I no longer live in the area but I guess that means there are better options. The folks I played with were not accomplished golfers and they had a tough time. Two of the three ran out of golf balls.
I have played nearly all of the courses in the area, from Tidewater to the west side of Richmond. All things considered, I rate this one in the middle in terms of enjoyment and value.
Stoneybrook East Golf Course

This place normally features excellent greens. The rest of the course conditioning has always been hot or miss. It is typical of many FL courses. Low swampy ground that has been built up . So if you miss wide, the ball gets lost because the ball bounces off of the mounding and goes into the swamp. It plays more narrow than it looks. Despite this, I like most of the holes.
The course conditioning is at an all time low. The greens are really spotty. It is very wet even though we have not had much rain. I suspect that they are trying recover from summertime neglect. I am going to give it 6-8 weeks before considering another round there. Too bad.
This course doesn't provide water coolers on the course. They usually have a beverage cart. I always bring several bottles of my own water just in case. BTW, Eastwood and North Shore share the same management.

This is one of my favorite courses. Too bad Integrity Management is ruining it. It is very similar to the experience you get with the airlines. The course condition is deteriorating and the employee morale is terrible. We played it Saturday. They had just aerated but made no mention when we booked. They had no range balls at 7:30am. You cannot talk to anyone at the course when you call. If you book online, they add fees beyond anything you would expect. Try somewhere else, but be careful. Integrity has taken over a bunch of local courses. My dollar votes are going to courses that treat me better.

Beautiful course, unfortunately it was in terrible condition. Nine holes, both putting greens, and the driving range were closed. The 18 holes that we played were in okay condition except the greens were awful because of aerification and sanding. I don't think this was anything more than routine maintenance. I just wish they would have let us know before we drove 7 hours to play there.
We felt cheated, especially since there was no price break, and although the place was beautiful, we will probably never go back. It was a really bad first exposure to the RTJ Trail. I think we will try somewhere else next time.
Stoneybrook East Golf Course

Course has one outstanding feature, smooth fast greens. Tee boxes need renovation. They are very crowned and rutted. Bunkers are mostly mud although not all of them. There is no water on the course to drink and rarely a beverage cart. $3.25 for a soft drink. Also beware, if you book a foursome and show up with less. The name on the booking is going to pay the balance although they will offer you a raincheck for the no shows. The course used to be much better conditioned. I guess the economy has taken its toll. As with many FL courses, the land has been built up several feet or more so that a missed shot tends to roll down hill and off the course. Sometimes it is not apparent and you end up with a lost ball, hazard, or OB when you thought the shot was pretty good. This also slows the pace of play because of the difficulty locating balls. Even if you dont have the problem, many others do. Course borders Alafaya Trail which is currently under major construction and the noise can be quite distracting not to mention the danger of getting in and out of the place. I guess that is a temporary problem but it has been going on a long time and doesnt look close to finished.
