An interesting round

The course is in very good shape. The greens are well kept, smaller than some courses and rolling which makes them challenging. The balls check up nicely due to the condition and amount of rain we've had. This was the first time playing for all of my threesome, so we were surprised by several short-drive fairways: #1, 11 and 16. There was no course layout offered on the scorecard to warn us, so we just played our lost balls as if they had not been. All of us enjoyed the round. It was very hot - in the 90's - and none of the coolers had water in them, which was surprising. In all liklihood we will play this scenic, challenging, and interesting course again.

Uncrowded and fast play

This was the first time and possibly the last I will play here. Cherry Valley is a 9 hole executive course with a par of 29. I arrived with my playing partner and we went off as a twosome with no wait. The facility has a shabby appearance with the golf shop in serious need of a facelift. The golf cart we used was old and worn, yet seemed to be in good running order. There were two other groups on the course ahead of us, but we were never held up. The owner was friendly and appreciative of our business, if not very competent making change at the register when we ordered a couple of hot dogs. $1.50 for a hotdog on a soggy bun was a stretch.

Cherry Valley's claim to fame was that it was the course (according to a large marble headstone near the golf shop) where Fuzzy Zoeller played "in his formative years". The owner told my partner that Fuzzy had stopped in recently, and played a round for old times sake. We were glad to hear that.

We played 18 holes (two rounds) in 2 hours - very quick. The course itself is tight but interesting and playable though not in great shape. The fairways, roughs, and greens were cut and decently playable, but many of the greens had major blemishes and/or sand patches on them. With a par of 29, which includes 2 par fours (the longer of which is 265 yards) it is a fun course which could be played without woods at all, and would be a perfect venue for a first time golfer (of which we met in a twosome who let us play through immediately). If you want a decent golfing experience, pass this one up. But if you are looking to get in a quick round for some practice on your short game, or wish to introduce a beginner to the game, this might be your ideal course. At $5 for the 75% off GolfNow Hot Deal, this course was worth it. At the full price of $20/18 holes, not so much.

Course on a comeback

Haven't played Indian Springs for over a year. Course was in decline last time I played. Since the Indian Springs Neighborhood Assn. bought it this year, due to financial difficulties of the previous owner, things seem to have gotten better. The sand is apparently being upgraded in the bunkers. All the front nine bunkers appear to have had their sand replaced, and the sand quality is the best I've seen on any of the dozen or so courses I've played this year. That includes two private country clubs. The back nine had a few bunkers that had yet to be upgraded.

The course is laid out links-style, meandering in and out of a pleasant subdivision over a wide range of property. Much of it is wooded, with many water hazards. Because of the links nature, it plays rather tight, especially number 17, which is an especially challenging hole. This is a very narrow, short par four with a pond to the right of the fairway, which slopes severely towards the water. A drive or second shot here, which does not go in the water is a good shot indeed.

The course, though not pristine, is in very nice condition, considering the difficulties of the last owner. There is, however a good deal of construction near the entrance to the course. The area under construction was sold off to developers, and was the location of the old parking lot. There is a new parking lot which seems much better than the old as far as convenient access to the pro shop is concerned. Perhaps this property sale is the source of the funds responsible for the noticeable course improvements. There is a minor convenience due to the construction coming off #18 near the clubhouse, as well as the eyesore and noise it imposes. However this would in no way prevent me from playing again soon. The clubhouse itself is very nicely appointed.

This is a challenging and fun round of golf for the price. Also it was a pleasant surprise. It appears as if there are only good things in store at Indian Springs CC. I will be playing there again soon.

Very picturesque

First time playing Glen Oaks. DEFINITELY won't be my last! Gorgeous views winding in and out of woods and over streams with many altitude changes. Gorgeous waterfall on #8! My new favorite in Louisville region. I like it at least as well as Heritage Hill in Sheperdsville. This is my new favorite course. Can't wait to play it again.

Very picturesque course

Probably my favorite course to play in the Louisville region. Very well maintained greens, bunkers, cart paths and ponds. Fairways have some issues with clover unlike at other times I have played. Some holes are very surprising and fun based on their topography. Many hills and valleys. Walking is not allowed because of some long distances between holes. Truly a delight to play.

One of our favorite courses

The course itself is in pretty good shape. A few greens have some disease issues, however. Fairways and rough are fairly well maintained. The facilities are in need of some maintenance and repairs. Cart paths are very rough and in need of re-surfacing. Clubhouse is in need of paint and repair. Golf carts seem adequately maintained, however. A challenging and fun course to play for the price. Some very picturesque holes on the front nine especially.
