Bonnyton Golf Club
Played On 03/01/2024Great Course if you get the chance to play
We managed to get on the course although it was off mats it was still very enjoyable. It was still full greens
The course was in great condition , early March to come off with no mud on trolley or shoes was unexpected
We played on a Monday so it was very quiet therefore we could play at a leisurely pace
This is a beautiful course high above Eaglesham with a great layout , some very challenging holes and stunning views of the surrounding area
Caldwell Golf Club
Played On 05/16/2023A great course close to Glasgow
Everything about this course was great.
Warmly welcomed by the members and staff, a member offered to buy coffee as I had no change
Clubhouse is older traditional style but still very pleasant
The course was very good and the greens lightning fast.
Overall a great experience for the price, we will go back
Cathcart Castle Golf Club
Played On 09/01/2023Another East Renfrewshire Gem
Played this and very surprised to get it for £25 as had heard great reviews about it
First impressions were that there was plenty off tee time’s available ion a Friday morning but one disadvantage off this was pro shop or clubhouse not open at 8:30am so no scorecard available
There are good signs at each tee so we could use that as a guidance
The course is in excellent condition, greens are very fast and definitely a credit to the greenkeepers.
The course proved quite tough even off the yellows as the position off pins suggested setup for weekend comps
Added to the challenge off the course
There are some blind holes and the burn tends to appear at nearly every hole
A bit off feedback would be better signage off the 9th tee and directions from 10th green to 11th tee as it’s not obvious to visitors
Overall a great course and will look to return as I am sure after playing I can put in a better score and stay out the burn
There was a function on in the clubhouse so didn’t get a chance to check it out
Earl of Mar Golf Course
Played On 02/25/2023Playing this course for under £30 is a great deal
Played on a Saturday around mid day so place was very busy
Went out on a two ball behind two 3 balls, guys in front kept a good pace and overall it was under a 4 hour round.
For this time of year the course was in good condition greens were fine and no water underfoot through the fairways
Looking forward to playing again

Members : Very welcoming and friendly
Pro Shop: Kevin & Brian , very helpful , welcoming , gave out advice about course. GN players don't always get genuine welcome , exact opposite the guys were genuinely interested to hear our views and make our visit enjoyable
Course: Excellent condition, fairways well defined, good sand in bunkers ( I was in too many ) Greens run true and fastest we have encountered , Only 3 greens staff , they deserve credit for the condition of the course
Course layout is varied utilising the contours, there are some points where there is cross over but not a problem.
Club house: Modern and comfortable. Clearly the catering uses local fresh produce and is very reasonably priced and like all others service is with a smile
Definitely a course to visit again
Thanks to all at Carnwath for a very enjoyable day

Played On 09/20/2021Previous reviews are correct
Had booked an early tee time but unfortunately the course was like a scene from Brigadoon with a heavy fog all over.
The guys in the pro shop where very welcoming and gave us the choice to play or not, the shared view was that the haar should lift by the time we got to the 3rd tee, so we teed off hitting into the abyss.
Started with a par/bogey so playing blind isnt that bad, by the time we drove up the 3rd the sun was burning through.
The course started to show as being in great condition, the fairways in great condition and although the greens had been dressed they still ran true.
Memorable holes
4th , nice dog leg with an elevated green into the corner, watch out that the gps shows a burn running across the fairway but its mainly underground. Out of bounds to the right the full length makes it a bit more challenging
5th A nice short par 3, tons of green beyond the bunkers
10th is a very good long drive hole par 4/5 dog leg left
15th is a nice short par 4
16th a longer par 3, 200 yards of the yellow
Overall the course layout was great , plenty of trees but the fairways are generous
A very nice clubhouse for a drink after and very helpful staff
A definite course we will return too
Rowallan Castle Golf Club
Played On 08/18/2021Challenging course
First thing you encounter at Rowallan is the grand entrance and scenic drive to the club house passing the historic castle.
All staff from George in the pro shop to the staff in the club and restaurant are very welcoming and helpful.
A nice touch that at sign in you are given a gift of Rowallan tees and pitch repair.
Due to the recent long spell of hot weather the tee boxes and some greens have suffered from drying out and are in need of maintenance .
This course is very long and challenging, it has 5 par 5's and a lot of bunkers , managed to get in around 8
The one thing about the course , although quite wide fairways any erratic shot off the straight will possibly lose your ball as the rough is tough.
It is quite hard to miss hit a ball and have it carry onto another fairway, this gives an idea of how wide the course is.
The course is worth a visit but be ready to accept its not in its prime condition.
Loudoun Gowf Golf Club
Played On 07/27/2021Definitely worth a visit
Have always intended visiting this course but never got around to it , seeing the reviews on here made our minds up to book a tee time.
We arrived in enough time to have a coffee and staff were all courteous and the golf secretary that checked our booking was very helpful.
The course is a mixture off challenges and a second game would benefit from knowing the green placements, the first hole is just over the hill for example.
Many of the fairways are tree lined but not too much that you arent able to recover your shot.
The actual fairways are suffering from the long dry spell but the greens are in great condition, the 12th nearest the clubhouse was perfect
14th &15th running along the side of the road are interesting if you have a bad slice , well protected with trees but adds to the challenge to keep it straight
We really enjoyed this course and will be back for more
Elderslie Golf Club
Played On 07/07/2021Another gem
Day started by being greeted by a very helpful and welcoming professional.
Practice green was an indication as to what to expect out on the course and that is fast
Just off the large car park is a nicely laid out practice area. It was busy with juniors which in itself is a good sign
The first hole could be daunting for any right hand slicers with the practice area running parallel
The overall condition of the course is excellent suggesting members respect their course with very few divot marks on the fairways
Holes to look out for
2nd nice short par 3
4th dog leg right
7th Index 1, seems further than expected
10th Downhill to the corner , ski slope in the winter
12th Over the hill , approach to the green
14th Nice par 5 , stay left of the massive tree
18th Nice finishing hole
Views from top of the course worth seeing
Due to time constraints we didnt have time to visit the clubhouse but looks nice with a balcony overlooking the first
Excellent days golf
Rowallan Castle Golf Club
Played On 06/25/2021Championship course
Rowallan is in excellent condition and challenging for all levels of golfers
Its a long course and you can expect to have a near 4 hour round
Fairways are wide and be careful the rough is very unforgiving, finding a ball is unlikely
Watch out for the lovely Par 3 8th taking you backdown to the castle.
The clubhouse is part of the Glasshouse restaurant and be sure to have some refreshments being a family run club the staff are exceptional
Crow Wood Golf Club
Played On 06/16/2021Gem North of Glasgow
This is a great course on the outskirts of Glasgow
All the course is generally in good condition and has a nice variety of holes.
Always easier to play having been before and highly recommended
A great finishing hole par 5 18th
Old Course Ranfurly Golf Club
Played On 05/05/2021Great course
First time I have played.
Initial thing is finding the course, follow the sat nav and believe it when instructed to turn right into what looks like the driveway to a house
This is a great wee course with some interesting holes and challenges.
The course was in great condition and pace was fine , no hold ups and we had a four ball in front.
Watch out for the 15th, 16th and 17th , they all have interesting quirks about them.
Due to covid there was limited access to the clubhouse but we managed a coffee and the best chocolate shortbread tasted. Staff were all very helpful and pleasant.
Old Course Ranfurly Golf Club
Played On 05/05/2021Watchout for the 16th and 17th holes
I thoroughly enjoyed this course, stunning condition and a real variety of hole styles. Quite a number of blind shots so course would benefit from more bells than metal tubes, we got caught out missing a few for the players behind.
Lovely views and layouts around the course and wildlife with canadian geese , nice touch.
Now watch for the 16th par 3 up and over then dont get caught out at the 17th with the concealed ravine,
Definitely a course to visit.
Old Course Ranfurly Golf Club
Played On 05/05/2021Crow Wood is improving
I have played this course many times and on this occasion it seems to have improved. Greens were in reasonable condition considering very early in the season.
I will look to visit again
Largs Golf Club
Played On 04/08/2018Another cracker of a course
Booked tgrough Golf Now for 3 of us, as course was quiet he professional let us tee off as soon as we were ready .
The weather had been very wet overnight but the course hadnt really suffered so far drier than expected.
You start with a par 3 uphill but apart from that the course tends to run across the hill rather than up and down with many holes levelling out.
The course has some very interesting holes with nicely laid out use of the natural features with a number of dog legs bringing the burn into play.
Thoroughly enjoyable course and would definitely play again in the summer.
Catering and bar service was excellent and all very reasonably priced . The mac'n'cheese portion was so filling some had to be left on the plate
Definite 4 Star experience
Greenock Golf Club - Championship
Played On 08/20/2017The terrain makes it tough
Unfortunately we visited after heavy rain , and the Pro requested that we play from the sides or on mats so this made the game a bit less interesting but couldn't be helped
The course is not for the weak its a fair hike up and down many steep hills, the real challenge being the turn at hole 10 , its a long way down to come backup.
The course layout and design of holes is very good and some real challenges.
The views from the top are outstanding.
It would be good to visit on a dry day.
