The Oaks Golf Club
Played On 08/29/2021Golf Course?
Thought I’d try this course even though it was an hour away, after reading several of the reviews. What a mistake - Save your time and money. I’m not sure this course even qualifies as a golf course.
I played from the blue tees (none of which had any grass), completely loose dirt fill. All but three of the so-called fairways were extremely wet and haven’t seen a lawn mower in months, probably bacause there so wet. All fairways are 85% clover. No carts parts, No yardage indicators, and not many directional signage from hole to hole. Easy to lose your way around this cow pasture if you’ve never played it before. All (18) greens had about 70% grass, the rest was dead or dirt.
Bring plenty of balls - Even if you can hit it 285 straight down the middle. A perfect drive or iron shot just plugs and disappears in the 8” tall weeded fairways soaked in water & mud. Pace of plays slows tremendously when all of the golfers are walking for 10 minutes in the same 30 square foot area attempting to find their ball.
Several fairways on the back nine didn’t have any grass whatsoever (none), just dirt, mud and lots of water. They should consider turning this course into a mud bogging course or mud sports track.
On a positive note, the diner / restaurant inside the Pro Shop must be pretty good - There were more patrons coming in to eat there than play golf.
Save your time & Money - Play another course.
