West at Lincoln Park Golf Course
Played On 10/28/2017Great Round at a challenging course
I played here during a meeting my wife was attending. I brought all of my cold weather items, cart cover, heater gloves, etc.... But it warmed up and I really didn't need any of them. It was very windy(15-20) and about 65 degrees. I played alone until about 15. Most people were very friendly and let me tru. I played the blue tees which are championship and even though I had some longer approach shots at times due to wind (175-185) it played pretty fair. A lot of non-flat stances and lies and some changing elevation approach shots. Greens were very nice and rolled at about an 8. The fairways were a little sparse in some areas but outside of a country club, they were very good for public course. Sand traps were really the only poor areas on the course. They were typical Oklahoma "dirt traps" with occasional pebbles throughout. Great new club house. Play it if you are in OKC and you will be pleased. FYI, beers are about $4.25 each! Good job City of OKC on making this a very fun course.
Texas Star Golf Course
Played On 05/26/2017Great course for anyone visiting DFW area
My wife and I played here during a recent trip to dfw. It was kind of windy, 15-25 mph. This course is priced right and very scenic.we saw wildlife and hilly interesting layouts. Not common in this part of the country. Nice pro shop, friendly people everywhere. We did have a group slowing everyone down, but by 12th hole the ranger had come out and made them move on. We teed off at 2:30 and were done by 7:15. Even joined a couple of locals (Dirk and Ryan) at 12 and they were great ambassadors of Dallas golf. Play here if you are a golfer!
Las Colinas Country Club
Played On 05/25/2017Country Club Golf but could have been better
My wife and I played on a Thursday afternoon. We are members of a reciprocating club in Tulsa Oklahoma. Our club pro arranged for us to play here and I will grant you that we were playing in a virtual hurricane. 30-40 mph wind. The course was a little burnt looking and a very nice older couple asked us to play with them. They quit after 9 holes due to wind. The reason for my lower rating is due to everyone we encountered acting like we were outsiders. We tried to get a temporary members number to use for drinks and food etc.... but the pro shop guy had been there for 4 days and explained that he didn't know what to do. So we had to pay cash to every person. That created a weird scenario every time. The course is a very interesting layout. Greens were very hard to figure out. Grainy and hilly in some areas. I bet it would have been better if we had not had the wind and the cold shoulder by many that were unaware if how to treat visiting members of another country club.
Ocean Course at Peninsula Papagayo
Played On 04/19/2017Great Golf experience
My wife and I played this course with another couple during a company incentive trip. It was expensive but worth the memories. We rented clubs and they were Titleist AP2's. With the rental clubs it was $250 per person. However the course was beautiful and you must play here if you come to Costa Rica. It was very hot, 100 and humid. But as long as you stay hydrated, you will be rewarded with some awesome tee shots from elevated tees. We saw monkeys, green parrots, large iguanas and even a Coatimundi!
Meadowlake Golf Course
Played On 12/26/2016Playable but challenging course
My wife and I played here, for the first time, the day after Christmas. We were headed back from a trip to Texas and stopped on the way back to Tulsa to get a round in. I played from the tips (blue) and even though I played well, it was a very challenging setup. It was pretty long from the back tees. I usually am about 250- 270 on an average drive and I was hitting 4 and 5 iron or even 5 wood into some par 4 greens. There are a couple of 200 yard par 3's but (3) very reachable par 5's. Trees make this course very demanding on your tee shots most of the time. It is winter and was kind o f windy and cold, so we were moving it around some. But we enjoyed it. Greens were in great shape. The new owner was a really nice guy and we will be back. if you are in Enid or passing through, give it shot.
Mike, we're glad you stopped by and we hope to see you next time you're in the area! We're glad we could offer you and your wife a little challenge during your road trip. Have a great new year!
The Golf Club at Cimarron Trails
Played On 09/03/2016Found Gem in Central Oklahoma
This course is about 45 mins to an hour west of Tulsa and is only about 10 miles south of Stillwater. My wife and I played here because we had never played here before. Read the reviews and it was a blast. It was beautiful weather with about 10-15 Mph wind. The greens were smallish and puts were hard to read but they were fair and in pretty good shape. I played from the back tees and you must hit long drives (250 +) from back there and very accurate tee shots as well. If I had played the white tees, I would have had an easier time. My wife really enjoyed it too. Price can't be beat and it was well worth the drive. We will be back.
Shangri-La Country Club - Champions Course
Played On 06/28/2016Golf by Boat!
My wife and I played here right before July 4th weekend. Stayed at a log cabin right on the water about 20 minutes away by boat. Took our boat and docked it at the cabin and the loaded clubs in the boat and drove to the course. Marina arranged for a shuttle over to the course and we teed off at around 2-ish? Really hot day but great course and club house. Lake and course was dead because it was a Tuesday. Just like I like it. They have 3 sets of 9 here. Champions, Heritage and the Legend. Played the first 2. Great lay out. I used a lot of 3 woods off the tee just to stay in play on some holes. Rolling hills around the lake. Great course and it was in perfect shape. Tough small greens to putt on though.
Cowboys Golf Club
Played On 05/27/2016A must play for any golfer
My wife and I played this at 2pm on a Friday during trip to Dallas. I'm a huge cowboy fan and a native Texan. But even if you are none of those things and are a serious golfer, you have to splurge and play this course. Shot makers course for sure. Driver not required on every hole. Clubhouse is unique and halfway house is really cool. Not everything was great. Pace of play was horribly slow. Could have been that day? Employees seemed like they were all ready to go home. In fact the pro shop shut down at 6:40pm. $200 each was pretty steep but I'm glad I played it.
Peoria Ridge
Played On 03/05/2016Northeast Okla. gem
My wife and I played here on a Saturday morning at 10 am. Weather was great. Slight wind blowing and about 65-70 degrees. The fairways were still pretty bare from winter and the lack of water lately. However the greens were good and the course played really well. Never played here before. The holes were really interesting. Approach shots were the trick here. Some holes played a little long but not all of them. Teed off with 3 wood a few times. Lost 2 balls. One in fairway grass patch? One on 18th hole into the water. still shot 79 and had a great time. I recommend it if you are staying at any of the casino hotels or going to Grand Lake. Nice club house and bar and restaurant also.
Sounds like a great day! Thank you so much for the great review and recommendation. Come see us again soon!
Par 3 at LaFortune Park Golf Course
Played On 07/20/2015Great practice after work
My wife and I play here sometimes on Monday nights and its really fun for her and good practice for me. The whole place is lighted and you can even rent a cart. Grab a few brews and play 18 under the lights when it's cool out. The greens are kind of funky and hilly. But they have to add some kind of challenge to it. The greens are kind of slow but are in good shape. You just have to go for it when you get on the green. Well worth the experience and not over priced at all.
Meadowbrook Country Club
Played On 07/18/2015Beautiful course
I have played here many times in the past. But my latest visit in July 2015 was really a fun time. My wife and I played and it was my first time seeing the new layout. It was a much needed improvement. People here are great and the course is in great shape.
Battle Creek Golf Club
Played On 06/27/2015Above average public course
This course is easier if you don't try to over power it. There are some sucker holes out there. Most of the time you only really need a moderate tee shot placed at about 225 or so. If you can do that and stay near or in the fairway, you will be rewarded with pretty receptive approach shots. Greens were in great shape. They putted a bit slow but we had just had some pretty heavy rain, so I believe they were not being mowed down yet.
Encinitas Ranch Golf Course
Played On 02/19/2015Fun wide open course
I typically play a much harder course and found this to be an easy course. Don't get me wrong, you can get in trouble here. But of you play each hole the way it is set up to be played, you will score well. Miss a fairway and find yourself with a shot most of the time. I'm a 12 handicap and shot a 79 with 2 doubles and 3 birdies. a couple of 3 puts and elevated greens kept me from shooting even lower. Great fun for me and my wife.
The Club at Forest Ridge
Played On 10/25/2014One of Tulsa's best public courses
This is a course that requires a targeted shot or its gone! Not a good place for beginners. If you don't hit it in play, its gone. Beautiful course. Never passes another hole. So, if you are used to hitting from the other fairway, there is no other fairway.
Cimarrone Golf Club
Played On 09/05/2014Hidden fun
This was a course I found online and really didn't know what to expect. Conflicting reviews. This is a local course with water on every hole and neighborhood surrounding the entire course. My wife and I really had a good time here. She is a beginner and I am a 12 hcp. You will definitely lose balls trying to overpower this course. The greens have a different kind of grass than I am used to but they played about medium speed and rolled true. I would play here again for sure. See Mike and you will get great service. He even helped us get on another course during our trip. Great residents that made us feel like we weren't on vacation. We got invited to play in a couples deal that night and we had a blast.
Slammer and Squire Golf Course at World Golf Village
Played On 09/03/2014Higher expectations
I played here on my 50th B-day with my wife. We stayed at the resort. I realize it was wed. middle of the week, but it seemed like everyone was out of it. We showed up and rang the bell at the bag drop and no one ever came 20 min.s plus in 98 degree heat. We ended up carrying our bags all the way up to the club house. About 100 yards. Guy inside apologized and said he would get us a cart brought around. Went to the starter guy who was in a little air conditioned house like building on his phone head down and oblivious. 15 min.s ? Guy from pro shop come around carrying our bags as the kid jumps up and claims he heard no calls. notices his radio is off! Finally ready to play, aerated greens with sand. We played with a nice older guy and had a decent time. We played twilight so we didn't pay as much as we normally would have. I would have rated this way worse if we had paid more. Course was in good shape and views were cool. Easier than King and Bear.
