Conditions poor

Greens poor, fairways terrible, tee boxes really bad. Bunkers are the best I’ve seen in Houston. Normally in Houston you’re playing out of builders sand and when that’s wet you might as well play off the cart path.

Won’t go there again until late spring

La Quinta at Quail Valley

For the time of year the course (Tee boxes and fairways) was in excellent condition and compared with the other course in the area it is miles better. Staff in the Pro Shop and the starter friendly and helpful.
Only thing that let the course down was the greens but considering the time of year they were okay and a lot better than than other local courses.
Only time I’ve been unhappy at Quail Valley is on a Friday when you can get stuck behind the locals around lunchtime (they go off in 4s and 5s & I’ve seen a group of 6) and now you’re looking at a 5 hour round. Check to see which course they are on that Friday, El Dorado or La Quinta, and play on the other one otherwise bring your breakfast.

Some of the holes don’t drain well so you can have “cart path only” if it’s rained heavily in the past 2 or 3 days.

Thank you for the compliments. We're still working on the greens and steadily getting better, so we hope to have you back again.

Fast greens at this course are stupid

Not the first to slate this course for the speed of play. 5 Hour rounds seem to be the norm. Some of the fault I would say rest with the players who think they are better than they are (don't we all) but mostly I think it is down to a combination of greens that slope severely in a lost cases and the so called American fascination with fast greens. I say so called because as anyone taken a poll. On this course the speed of the greens considering the severity of the slope on most greens is what I term stupid and completely ruins a nice round of golf. Wise up greenkeeper - the people that come to play at your course are not pros and don't really enjoy 3 putting from 8 feet. So as far as rating this course as a *, well 5 hour round and greens the vast majority of us amateurs can't handle, I'm being generous.

While i love the course and prefer faster greens, i do have other criticisms of the place. poorly managed and marshaled. 'Tis true that most of your average weekend golfers and high handicap golfers struggle on fast greens. i stay away from golf courses on the weekends because of the 5 hour rounds.
