Tough track, well maintained

We hit this course once a year, on our way down to Carrizo Plain. It's a tough test with some difficult tee shots, fast contoured greens, and plenty of hazards to gobble up golf balls. Pace of play was a tad slow, but that's to be expected on a Sunday afternoon. Last year we played both Hunter Ranch and Paso Robles CC. This year we just played Hunter Ranch twice, since it outshines PRCC by a wide margin. Highly recommended!

Never again

I've played Eagle Ridge before and knew it would be a challenge. It's always hot in Gilroy in the summer and early fall and the course is relatively long, with a lot of forced carries. I don't like the way the course snakes its way through the gated community, but there are enough wooded holes to make it bearable. What I wasn't expecting was for the course to be under construction. It wasn't disclosed when I booked the round and the work was invasive. The 3rd hole had a temporary "green" that was just a circle painted on the grass. The sand traps on all but 2 holes were treated as ground under repair (beneficial to your score, perhaps, but traps are part of the game). A construction worker walked behind me during my backswing on 4, prompting a shank (yes, it's ultimately my fault, but still annoying). The bathroom in the club house was filthy. The piece de resistance was that they shook you down for an extra $10 for an individual cart, which is standard issue during Covid. Bottom line is that I'll never play this course again. Cinnabar and San Juan Oaks give you similar terrain and a much better overall experience if you're looking for golf in the Gilroy/Hollister area.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars. We have begun our renovation project to recover the sand traps and we work hard to keep the rest of the course excellent shape. Our maintenance crew is constantly working to improve the conditions every day. We hope you'll bear with us through this transition and give us another try in the near future. This project is years in the works and we are thrilled for what is to come. We truly apologize that it was burdensome during your round. We appreciate your feedback on the temp greens and wanted to let you know we have implemented a warning in the tee time notes when booking online and are striving to make all golfers aware in the shop. Thanks for choosing Eagle Ridge Golf Club.
