Santa Anita Golf Course
Played On 07/22/2020Great Experience
The course is a lot of fun, even for a duffer like myself. Could be in a little better condition in some spots, but having been closed down with the COVID situation as they were, it's understandable. Still conditions overall are pretty darn good. The Staff is terrific in every way. Very friendly and accommodating. Interacting with them adds to the enjoyment of the Santa Anita experience.

Beautiful course, great and friendly Staff, good greens fees. The one and only complaint I have is that the pace of play at times can be very slow. Getting behind a 5-some with push carts and umbrellas is the absolute worst. Especially when you catch up to them at a tee to find nobody in front of them and they are sitting down resting. Sheese!!! But that is really the one and only complaint I have.
Great place!

I love playing here. The Staff are knowledgeable and very friendly. It feels like home. The only complaint I have is that there are often 5 somes walking ahead of me and slowing down the pace of play. However, that complaint is outweighed by all the positives.

I love playing Santa Anita. Very close to my home, terrific and friendly Staff makes you feel at home. The course is very nicely layed-out with a nice variety of fairly easy holes to pretty difficult ones (at least for me). It will always be my first choice as to where to play.
There is only one down-side and that is the often encountered slow pace of play. Two factors contribute to the slow play: 1) The fact that because it is an LA County Course, Five-somes are allowed. 2) Players who walk the course instead of riding. Invariably we will come up to a tee box, and find a group of walkers just sitting on the bench, with nobody on the green or even within their driving range ahead of them. It is as if they are resting.
If something could be done about the pace of play, Santa Anita would be perfect! But in all fairness, all LA County Courses have that exact same problem.
Bottom line is that I will continue playing at Santa Anita on a regular basis because there are so many more positives that negatives about it.
