Davis Golf Course
Played On 03/15/2020Best Value in the Area
We play here all the time. $23 to walk 18 holes even on Saturday & Sunday mornings. The course is fantastic for that value. It's a nice place to play that isn't too challenging. Love it
Cherry Island Golf Course
Played On 11/03/2019Fun course with some interesting par 5's
Well maintained course. Nice practice facilities. The par 5's often require leaving driver in the bag and hitting precision hybrid/iron shots to reach the green in 3.
Blue Rock Springs Golf Course - East
Played On 06/09/2018Great course at a great price
This course is as good as it gets when it comes to value for your money. Came out from Sacramento and met some friends here from the Bay Area. This was my second time playing here, and we got a cart this time. I recommend it unless you're ready for a major workout.
Diamond Oaks Municipal Golf Course
Played On 04/29/2017Pace of Play Issue
I will start off by saying that I have played Diamond Oaks in the past multiple times and never had a bad thing to say about it. The course itself is a good value for the money and I enjoy the scenery and challenges it presents.
Our group did have an issue, however, with the marshall and our pace of play. There were 3 of us, all were riding, and we tee'd off at around 7:30 AM. It was a busy Saturday morning at the course, but the group behind us was not waiting on us on every hole or anything like that. We kept ahead of them pretty consistently, and kept on what we felt was a reasonable pace.
Around hole 5, the marshall drove up to us and told us we would have to play faster, because there were several groups behind us and it was getting backed up. We thought this was a little odd, given that the group directly behind us was not really being help up by our play. We increased our pace slightly after he said that.
Around hole 15, the marshall pulled up again but this time did not say anything. Instead, he proceeded to sit in his parked cart next to our green while we chipped/putted and watch us. It seemed like he was trying to silently tell us to hurry up without talking to us again. As soon as we tee'd off on the next hole, he pulled around and proceeded to follow our group until we got to the 18th hole. At that point, we were annoyed because having the marshall lurking around while you hit every shot is not the way I want to enjoy my day of golf.
We finish the round, look at the clock and it was 11:15. I said to my friends, "What is the pace of play here? Because the marshall was pushing us all game and we finished our round in 3 hours and 45 minutes."
We briefly spoke to the manager inside the pro shop, who told us the pace of play was "between 4:00 and 4:30." We told him about our experience feeling rushed while playing under the expected pace. Another player inside the shop (not a staff member) chimed in and said that the morning players at Diamond Oaks like to play very fast, so perhaps he was speeding things up to accommodate them.
The combination of the marshall waiting on our every shot for the last several holes and then finishing to see that we played a 3 hour 45 minute round rubbed us the wrong way and made us have second thoughts about coming back to this course, at least on a weekend morning.
Teal Bend Golf Club
Played On 04/02/2017Nicest course I've played
This was my first time at Teal Bend, although I had heard good things about this course in the past. The $67 price scared me off, but we were able to find a big discount on golfnow. I see why this course normally costs as much as it does! It's in fantastic shape, unlike a few other courses I have played recently that are still recovering from all the rain we had. This course drains! Hitting off the fairway feels almost like hitting off practice mats at the range, that's how good the condition is. I will make an effort to go back and play this course again.
Mather Golf Course
Played On 03/25/2017Course is wet but staff warned us
When we arrived for our tee time, the man in the pro shop warned us that the fairways were muddy due to recent rain. The price was discounted as a result, and we decided to play anyway. The conditions were pretty bad, but we made the most of it. If the staff hadn't said anything, it would have been disappointing but since he told us we expected what we got. Until the course dries out, you won't get much roll on shots in the fairway. It's easy to lose a ball from getting embedded in the wet ground.
Apple Mountain Golf Resort
Played On 11/3/2013Beautiful and too challenging for me
This course during the fall looks like it's straight out of a calendar or postcard. It's visually the nicest course in the area. However, unless you're a good player it's probably going to be too frustrating. I shoot in the low 90s usually and shooting a 102 here was a struggle. The greens are FAST!! Several times we would putt very cautiously only to have our ball roll straight off the green.
