Links Golf Club, The
Played On 07/30/2022Decent course for the money
This is a decent course for the money. It probably won’t overwhelm you anywhere, but it’s a generally fair test.
Robber's Row at Port Royal Golf Club
Played On 07/05/2022Really enjoyed the round
Really enjoy this course. There’s enough to challenge all levels of golfers but it’s a fair test.
My only wish is for more concessions options. No real fast grab & go food options and the drink cart can only come around so many times.

This might be my favorite course on Hilton Head. There’s a little history lesson for nerds like me. There’s a lot of really neat holes but I don’t think it’s overly difficult.
Bring a lot of balls though.

This is my new favorite course on HHI. The staff could not have been friendlier or more gracious. The check in was efficient. I was helpfully matched up with a twosome and I don’t think we were forced to wait at a single hole. The course has many challenges but to my eye played fair. The greens were well maintained if a little quick.
Winding Ridge Golf Club
Played On 09/11/2018Winding Ridge-can be great
I’ve always been frustrated playing Winding Ridge. It’s a course I feel has the potential to be great, but too often I feel like it’s poorly maintained and pace of play is usually a nightmare.
Today was different, the course was in fairly good condition, though the fairways all looked a little too thick. And perhaps b/c it was just my friend and I playing, we finished in a tidy 3 1/2 hrs. That’s easily 1 1/2 hrs less than it usually takes to finish 18.
California Golf Course
Played On 05/14/2017Great course
I booked tee time at last minute but had no problem getting on. Played by myself and was able to zip through. Layout is a little short, par 70.
Great Layout-everything else not so much
My friend and I were really looking forward to playing this course as a nearly annual excursion.
The design of the course is breathtaking in many places and the holes are challenging but fun to play.
Unfortunately, the course is not in very good condition. There were large dead spots on a number of greens, the rough was thin and filled with weeds in many places, and the tee box areas were chewed up.
None of the maintenance issues would have been as big of a deal if the pace of play hadn't ground to a halt. We teed off probably 20-30 minutes after the previous group and zipped through the front 9. After a quick stop at the turn we knew we were in trouble when we realized we had caught up to threesome in front of us on #11. After 4 slow but bareable holes all action stopped on 15 where there were 4 groups all waiting.
it looked like all 4 groups were maybe part of an outing as all 4 groups were waiting for until everyone in the 12some had finished before teeing off on the next hole. We called to the clubhouse to complain but were told there was only one guy there so he couldn't go out and act as marshal.
I will say, the staff was friendly if a bit flustered by performing many roles at once.
Royal Hylands Golf Club
Played On 07/12/2015Fantastic Course
This is far and away my favorite course. Every time I play it, there's a new challenge on a different hole. They're all set up fairly, so if you're shooting well, you can definitely score pars and birdies. However, there's enough trouble to trip you up if you are off target.
Given that many courses in the area were closed due to the huge amounts of rain we've had in Central Indiana, Royal Hylands was in fantastic shape.
The staff is always very helpful and friendly.
Saddlebrook Golf Club
Played On 08/24/2014Decent Course
Played this on a Sunday morning after a huge rainstorm the night prior. While the course certainly took on a larger than expected amount of water, the drainage was somewhat lacking as there were a number of areas of standing water even by late in the morning.
I've played this course many times and recommend to always play early if you don't want the round to take 5 hours +
Eagle Creek Golf Club - The Pines Course
Played On 07/25/2014Good challenge for challenged golfer
This course was a good test for a golfer who scores slightly higher than bogey golf. The holes generally required multiple good shots to score par or better, but there were few places where a single bad shot doomed you to triple bogey. Plenty of places to recover and not kill the round. Also, they do a great job of playing with doglegs and elevation changes to compensate for some shorter par 4's.
u000007898195,
Thank you for your review and rating. I agree, our courses are fun and provide a little history lesson with several historical landmarks on Robber's Row. Thanks again for playing and we look forward to seeing you during your next visit to HHI.
