Arlington Ridge Golf Club
Played On 04/03/2015Beautiful Course, needs a ranger
I drove 60 miles to play this course as I had read some great reviews. The reviews were right on. The course is in beautiful shape, greens rolled true, and with 5 tee boxes, you can make this course fit your ability. I went out as a single and am used to slow play. However, I ran into a group of 6 golfers, yes, that's right, 6 who didn't let me play through until the 5th hole. Then, on the 7th, there were two threesomes in front of me. I timed how long it took in between shots and at one point, it took over 10 minutes to tee off and then another 8 minutes in between shots. After a three hour 9 hole endurance, I decided it was best to go home. I don't mind waiting, but this was the slowest golf I have ever played. If a ranger were present to help speed up play, the round would have been much more enjoyable. I will come out in the summer and hope to play all 18 holes.
Sanctuary Ridge Golf Club
Played On 07/11/2014Lived up to the hype
I had driven past this course many times over the years and have always wanted to play. I went with my 15 year old son and we were both amazed at how beautiful the scenery was. Not only was it beautiful to see the many elevation changes, but being the first time out, there were moments that we couldn't tell where the greens were due to the sudden drop in elevation! The course has been kept up well, the greens are in great shape, and there are some very challenging holes in which you have to have good course management to score well.
Deltona Club
Played On 07/08/2014Greens need some attention but still an awesome course!
I have played Deltona Club many times throughout the past three years and the course has remained in fabulous condition. I always look forward to playing this course, mostly because of the speed of their greens. This time out, the greens were much slower than they have ever been and although they look like they are being taken care of, they did not roll as they have in the past. This is still one of the best courses in the area and I will be back!
Alaqua Country Club
Played On 06/21/2014Looking forward to the renovations
I went to the course knowing that there was a course alert so, I expected to play under perfect conditions. Most of the greens are being redone so that meant playing on temporary greens. Overall, the course is in pretty good shape. The fairways roll true and have been kept up. The greens are going to be awesome once they are completed. For $9.00, you still can't beat the deal if you are looking to work on your drives and intermediate iron game.
Rio Pinar Golf
Played On 06/10/2014Great renovations
I played this course back in October and it was a very average course. After playing this week, I was amazed at the improvements that have been put into place. The fairways were in great shape and although the greens had just been aerated and sanded, they still rolled great and true. It was very hot and not many people were on the course so I was able to play it in just over 2 hours. This has become my new home favorite.
DeBary Golf & Country Club
Played On 03/30/2014Greens need attention, but great course
This is about the 5th time I've played this course over the past year. A year ago, the course was in pristine condition. In January, there were many greens that needed repair. I was glad to see that work is being done on some of the greens and you can tell that the course is on its way back to the glory days. Great course, especially when you can book it for under $20.00
Indian River Preserve Golf Club
Played On 6/26/2013Great challenge with unexpected beauty
I really enjoyed this course. The greens were in very good shape along with the fairways. Depending upon which tees you play, there are many challenging yet rewarding holes. I was pleasantly surprised with the experience.
ChampionsGate Golf Club - National
Played On 5/7/2013Everything I had hoped for
I have driven by Championsgate many times from I-4 and finally was able to get a great deal from golfnow. I was not disappointed. All aspects of the course were spectacular. The greens had been aerated just recently, but still had a very true roll to them. The slopes on the fairways made for some very interesting approach shots. The gps system was accurate, but might need a little updating or "touch up" work as they seem very worn. The staff was great.
Winter Park Golf Course
Played On 4/8/2013Great course to walk
The course is maintained consistently well all year long. The greens play a bit slower than most in the Orlando area, but for the price, this is one of my favorite places to go. Being set in beautiful downtown historic Winter Park, makes for a very relaxing and enjoyable 9 hole stroll.
Fairways Country Club
Played On 3/26/2013Nice course for a home course
The course overall is in okay condition. The greens are pretty fast but play true for your average subdivision course. Some of the fairways are in need of some attention, but it appears as though some of those areas are being addressed. I always enjoy playing here, especially when it's not overcrowded.
Kings Ridge Golf Club - Kings Course
Played On 1/18/2013I love the terrain and the wide open features of this course
Great course, especially for the money. Actually, for the money, it is probably the best course in the Orlando area. Pacing was a little slow when I played with my 13 year old son, but we made the best of it and had a great time. Would definitely play this again and again.
We had a ranger on the course earlier in the day, but they are generally here during peak times (9-2) so there wasn't one on the course when you teed off after 3:00. I checked on the group of six and member told me he had permission from starter, who was told by member that Pro Shop had given him permission to play six. Unfortunately, the starter did not confirm this with the Pro Shop, which did not give the member approval. I spoke to the member, who is fairly new to our club, to make sure he now understands our policy of foursomes only going forward. Our apologies and we do appreciate the kind words regarding the condition of our course. I'll be sure to pass your comments on to the golf course superintendent!
