Stonebridge Golf Links & Country Club
Played On 09/07/2023Back in the Rotation
I hadn’t played Stonebridge in many years, but figured I’d give it a try to see how much I’d like it currently. Probably the key negative is the back and forth fairways on several holes that cause quite a bit of “Fore!” to be yelled by errant shots. Course conditions were spotty in places, but not poor enough to detract from a satisfactory round. I do like the layout which puts a high demand on approach shots and putts. I enjoyed playing at Stonebridge, so I’ll put it back in my playing rotation of courses on the Island.
Willow Creek Golf & Country Club
Played On 07/15/2023This Gem is Beginning to Lose Some Luster
This has long been my favorite course to play on Long Island. I thoroughly enjoy the layout which is typically in great condition and has a nice blend of risk/reward opportunities. I’ve always found it to be worth it’s relatively high cost. Unfortunately, as amplified during this last visit, I’m concerned with things beginning to slip. A few examples: The staff in the bag drop area are sometimes absent and when present seem to be in a bit of disarray. Clubs are no longer cleaned after the round (or at least that’s been my experience the last few rounds). Both carts in our foursome needed to be replaced during the round—one had its steering mechanism lock up and the other lost its charge. Lastly, a 7-some (!) decided to form in front of us after a few holes. We called and a ranger did come to break them up, but they reformed a few holes later.
PLEASE work harder to keep this course a special place to play.

Played in April and found the course conditions lacking. Kudos to the grounds crew for greatly improving the condition of the course. Always like the layout. Unfortunately, the pace was slow. Our round took over 5 hours.
Cherry Creek Golf - The Links Course
Played On 06/10/2023Worth the Trip
I’m a fan of Cherry Creek Links. It plays somewhat long from the white tees, but presents a fair test throughout the round. I enjoy the layout and appreciate the excellent conditioning. It’s about a 45 minute drive for me, but I find it well worth it.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of Cherry Creek Links! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the course layout and found it to be a fair test of your skills. We appreciate your comments about the course conditions, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
Regulation Eighteen at Smithtown Landing Golf Club
Played On 04/15/2023Not Ready for the Season
I normally play the course a few times per year. They apparently did a lot of work on the grounds since the last time I played fixing cart paths and removing trees, but the condition of the course was not good. Tee boxes were generally in poor shape and a few were temporary. The greens were an odd shade of light green and ran unusually fast. I love the challenging layout of the course and hope conditions improve as the season progresses.
Hi! Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. Please know the current conditions are by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We will continue to work towards a 5-star experience and we hope to see you back!

Played On 03/31/2023Quality is Slipping
Normally a top 10 course in the area, I didn’t enjoy my last round as much as previous ones. Before even teeing off, it was annoying to have no cart available until our actual tee time. Conditioning was deteriorating as well, with very little if any real sand in the bunkers. Overall disappointing.
Puerto Los Cabos Golf Club - Norman/Nicklaus I
Played On 11/29/2023Great Overall Experience
While costly, I feel you get a reasonable value for an excellent round of golf. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Free food and beverages are available at 4 stops during your round. There was no one in front of us, so our twosome was able to finish our mid-morning round in under 4 hours. We played the Mission and Ocean nines. While they had a somewhat different feel, they seemed to both play tougher than they looked. In particular, when standing at the tee boxes on the Mission course, my eye wasn’t quite sure of where it was best to aim. Best to look carefully at the in-cart GPS before deciding. We will definitely return the next time we visit Cabo.
The Amelia River Club
Played On 10/24/2022Nice Track, Beware of Hidden Water Hazards
We were very pleased with our overall experience at this course. Not overly long, but some holes were tricky. Layout is interesting with quite a few doglegs, lots of bunkers and hidden water hazards. A golf GPS on your phone/watch is essential if you’re unfamiliar with the course. Greens were quick. Pace was under 3 1/2 hours for our threesome with no waiting, which was great. Warmed up at the well kept driving range. Would have been nice to include range balls in the (relatively high) greens fee, though. Had a pretty good lunch at the restaurant. Ate outside viewing the driving range as the indoor part of the restaurant was under construction.
jprincio, thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing The Amelia River Club.

Played On 10/07/2022Cherry Creek - The Woods Course
Played On 07/09/2022Tight Fairways and Thick Rough
This course tends to play tough, particularly if you are someone who sprays your drives. The rough, even close to the fairways and greens, was quite thick and challenging. Greens were somewhat slow. I much prefer the Links course across the street.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us, jprincio. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Cherry Creek - The Woods Course, and we hope to see you again in the future.
Mill Pond Golf Course
Played On 06/25/2022One of My Favorites on LI
While interesting and not overly easy, Mill Pond’s layout tends to suit my game and I generally play well there. Course is in nice shape. Only negative was a pretty slow round (approaching 5 hours).
Cimarron Golf Club - Boulder Course
Played On 02/06/2022Nice Course with a Few Things to Nitpick
Course is wide open with very few trees and wide fairways. Bunkers (and wind when it’s gusty) can make it challenging. Otherwise, it’s fairly straightforward. While overall we enjoyed the round, there were a few negatives to consider:: 1) carts were in limited supply, so you had to wait until your tee time to get one. This meant you had to walk a fairly long way with a few clubs to the warm-up area. We’ve played there twice and both times carts were initially unavailable., 2) no drinking water is provided. There are containers on several holes, but they are empty. If COVID rules preclude the jugs from being filled, they should provide at least one complimentary bottle of water. Needless to say it can get very hot in the desert, even in February., 3) While there are a few port-a-potties on the course, we didn’t come across any bathrooms. Not the best set-up, particularly for ladies who may be reluctant to use them.

This course hits all the right notes for me. Just challenging enough without being too punishing, quick play and immaculate conditioning.
Palm Desert Resort Country Club
Played On 11/04/2022Much Improved
I had avoided this course after playing it for the first time about 5 years ago due to poor conditioning at that time. Thankfully, I gave it another shot after seeing positive reviews. All in all, the round (and a subsequent one) were very enjoyable. Service is friendly. Range is nice and practice balls are included with your round. Course itself is wide open and player-friendly. Good scores can be had if playing well. Greens were very slow following the recent over-seed which was tough getting used to. Will definitely add back to my list of Coachella Valley courses to play.
Hi, jprincio. We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back at Palm Desert Resort Country Club!
Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa - Pete Dye Resort Course
Played On 10/31/2022Not one Of My Favorites
The Coachella Valley has so many terrific courses that make it difficult to recommend a course like this, which was fine but probably less suited to my game. The layout is fairly interesting with lovely views, wide fairways, thick rough, numerous sand traps and undulations throughout the course that don’t often provide a flat lie. Rough was gnarly enough that we lost several balls in there which we swore should have been findable. Water came into play on several holes. The course was recently over-seeded, so carts weren’t permitted on the fairways. Understandable, but this made for a longer, more tiring round. Perhaps it’s related, but the greens were quite slow.
Legend at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort
Played On 10/16/2021Enjoyable Round
With few courses open during overseeding season, I played the legends course for the first time with modest expectations. I had steered away previously given mediocre reviews. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and had an enjoyable round. The layout is straightforward with some very wide fairways—a plus in my book. Conditioning was fine for the season.
Golf Club At Terra Lago - South Course
Played On 10/15/2021Will Play Again
Read a few poor reviews and came in with low expectations after not playing the South course for several years. All in all, I had an enjoyable round. A playing partner told me the course was closed for 4 months to improve conditioning and to overseed. While a few holes were in less than stellar shape, I thought the course was in decent shape, overall. With most courses in the valley closed at this time for overseeding, choices are limited, but all in all this was a good value for a challenging course with interesting hole layouts.
Tam O'Shanter Golf Club
Played On 06/17/2021Hope They Keep The Course Open
As many have stated, this was a longstanding private club that recently went public. I asked the starter what the plans for the future were and he said that the owners were reviewing their options with a decision to be made by November.
I thought the course layout was excellent with a lot of interesting holes featuring strategic bunkering, doglegs and water hazards. It was a lot of fun to play. The condition of the course itself was very good , however the cart we were given should have been put out to pasture long ago and the on-course bathroom should have been condemned. These issues are easily fixable should ownership decide to keep the course operating. I really hope they do.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback! We hope to see you back soon!
