Makray Memorial Golf Club
Played On 04/27/2023A fluke
I honestly skipped more holes than I actually played--no fooling. The pace of play was a nightmare. It seemed as if every slow-placed foursome showed up this day, and their etiquette only added to the delays. Having said this, I believe this was a fluke. My previous rounds here were incredible memories. My stepdaughter had her wedding and dress rehearsal dinner here and it they were wonderful experience. I will always come back to Makray; I love the course and the staff is amazing.

I am a big fan of this course, and the staff is always on point and courteous. Having said that, I played this course about two months ago and there were THREE makeshift greens to contend with. I played last week these greens were still substituted for the real, under construction greens. We didn't receive a warning about that two months ago and we didn't receive a warning last week. It would be nice if the course, or the golf website, could alert us to these types of conditions. A heads up on courses aerating greens would also be nice, especially if the course chooses to use the thicker needles.

The staff was wonderful, the course was a decent layout, enjoyable, however, the greens were in horrid condition. As a single-digit handicapper, it takes away 2 to 6 strokes. A heads up would have been appreciated.
Aeration alerts are helpful.

This is truly one of those hidden gems. I love this course and I can't wait to play it again. Staff was wonderful and helpful.

This was an absolute joke of a course. It was the worst golf course I have ever visited in Florida. The conditions were awful. There was no guidance as to what to expect, or where to play (in regards to which of the 9-hole courses).
I've visited 27-hole golf courses before, and, as a general rule, one nine is usually closed for repair or maintenance. This course had two 9-hole courses closed, which was a bit on the disturbing side, considering how poor of a shape the OPEN 9-hole course was in; what's the level of maintenance being conducted.
I'm normally a very passive, accepting individual, but this was such a disappointing experience I couldn't help but be on the disgruntled side.
Hello, Jimmy. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We strive for a 5-star experience, so we welcome your feedback. We work hard to maintain the course for everyone's benefit, which means aerifying the greens as part of our regular maintenance schedule. The greens will be healed soon and in pristine condition. We are very sorry if this was not communicated clearly. Please come back soon for the 5-star experience you expect at Traditions at Chevy Chase Country Club.
