Greystone Golf Club
Played On 07/16/2016You have to play here once a year
Great course layout. Everything is taken care of and the greens roll true. But this course is not worth their asking price. Most people are paying $40 and up to play here but its just as good as any $25 course and that's what we paid for our round. The problem is.. Every time we book a round with a course that is more expensive they treat us golfnowers like dirt. We arrived on time and ready to play but we had to wait 45 minutes to be paired up even though nobody was on the first tee. (Because we were supposed to be on it). I understand that is needed to keep groups condensed and have pace of play consistent but there was no reason for it at the time. My brother and I are low handicap golfers so we can breeze through a course in 2 hours. They paired us up with your average 100 stroke players which is fine but they wanted to break apart from us after the 3rd hole because they felt embarrassed and wanted to play on their own without a couple of strangers. So we waited to get paired up only to have them lag behind us after we started... Its frustrating when a course that is this nice is mismanaged but what can you do? They think they know what they're doing so it doesn't matter what you say.
Bear Lake Highlands Golf Course
Played On 07/02/2016Amazing course up north
This course is very well maintained and it worth every penny. I only paid $25 but this course is worth $35 a round easily. Everything was well kept, the greens rolled true and tee boxes were clean. I will probably play here every time I come up north from now on if the price is still low because every other course near by is a resort course which is at least double in price for the same experience. I would recommend this course to anyone.
Bruce Hills Golf Club
Played On 06/04/2016Great Deal Anytime
Bruce Hills has maintained their course very well over the off season into this year. Prime playing conditions for everything except the tee boxes. They need to repair them on a weekly basis but they never do. Aside from that everything is on par. Pace of play is always a gamble. We booked a tee time at the tail end of an outing so we skipped around which is no big deal to me since I've played here so much but it is always a good deal for the price. It could easily be a $30 or $40 course if they somehow lengthened most holes.
West at Warren Valley Golf Course
Played On 05/28/2016Great Course
First time I have played here and it was a very nice course. All around it was a good time. The tee boxes and greens were in perfect condition. Holes were a little bit close to each other so errand shots could hit other players very easily. Other than that it was perfect. Pace of play was as fast as we could go and the starters were very nice. Hopefully I'll be back even though it was a 35 minute drive.

Greystone Golf Club
Played On 10/17/2015This course is why Romeo went out of business.
I can't believe i have never been to this course before. It can be a bit pricey but it's totally worth it. Every hole was very well kept for being late in the year. Putts rolled very fast and smooth and most of the holes were long enough to be challenging if you didn't hit a solid drive. I always wondered why romeo golf course went out of business and now i know why. This course is above and beyond any course nearby as far as layout. The last three holes are very scenic and require your best shots of the day in order to stay out of trouble. Will be back next year!
Rattle Run Golf Course
Played On 07/31/2015Rattle Run is always a good play
This course is never really busy so pace of play is never too bad. There are plenty of challenging holes and the greens are very fast. It's worth the drive.
Glacier Club
Played On 07/16/2015Great course but small greens
This course is always a good play but the greens are way to fast to be as small as they are. Par 5 greens were smaller than some par 3 greens. Nonetheless its a great place to play but make sure to bring your own drink as there isn't any drinking water available on the course.
Sanctuary Lake Golf Course
Played On 07/11/2015Great course but overpriced.
This course should be available for $20 all day. There isn't anything that makes it better than other local courses. It's actually just a big dump because they have exhaust pipes that let out a very nasty sewage smell throughout the course. I can't say i would recommend this course because of the price and the pace of play was terrible. 6 hours for 18 holes is unacceptable. I only played here because i had a buy one get one free. The course is very well kept and has a nice layout but the price, smell and pace of play ruin it for me.
West at Maple Lane Golf Club
Played On 07/04/2015Eagle on 7
Maple lane is usually a good place to play because it is so wide open but it does get busy sometimes and that can lead to a slow round but this time it was a ghost town for me and my brother. We played 18 in 2 1/2 hours and i witnessed my brother get an eagle on the par 5 7th with a 3 wood bomb from 250 out to the middle of the green to sink a 30 footer. The week after he got an eagle on the 9th hole by driving the green. Besides those amazing holes maple lane is always a good play because it is a very straight forward course that is well kept and its easy to shoot par.
Stony Creek Golf Course
Played On 05/29/2015Overbooked.
I used to love stoney creek golf course but now it has become jam packed every time i go. There were 4 groups of 4 waiting to tee off when we pulled up. Idk if it was senior day or what but it was all old people there so of course it takes them twice as many shots to reach the green. I don't mind if the old people want to play but 6 hours for 18 has to be more brutal on them than it is on me. They should extend their tee time gaps to 12 minutes instead of 6 or 8. I would have rated this all 5 stars if they made sure pace of play was kept.
Blackheath Golf Club
Played On 05/28/2015Great course
This course is great for any golfer. I went when there wasn't many people there but i still think pace of play would be quicker than most courses because it is so wide open and well maintained. There isn't a hole that is too challenging in length but every green had some type of undulation.
White/Gold at Bello Woods Golf Course
Played On 05/22/2015Played 18 in 2 hours
I played so fast because the course is somewhat short but i also played the best round of the year shooting an even par 72 with 4 birdies, 10 pars and 4 bogeys. I passed up 6 groups of people which was great because every group asked me to pass before I attempted too and every time I hit a beauty. 260 down the middle every time and almost getting a hole in one on the 4th hole i played landing only a foot away. Also got my first chip in birdie of the year as well. Enough about me, the course was in great condition. The greens rolled true but this course has those trees with helicopter leaves so the greens need to be cleaned everyday which is seemed like they did. This course is similar in difficulty to maple lane but i think it takes better shot making because there are several holes with creeks across the fairway so you need a club in your bag to carry 200 in the air. Also there are a lot of holes on the gold course with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. I am going to come back to this course all year if i can get it at a good deal again. Also the people in the clubhouse were friendly unlike cherry creek down the street.
Heather Hills Golf Club
Played On 05/09/2015Hidden Gem
This course is great. Not the most challenging because fairways are wide open and there are only a few water hazards but a lot of holes had bunkers in play. The greens were in great condition and the best part! We didn't have to wait around for other golfers! I would go here if you are a golfer looking to get in a round in under 4 hours and on a course that challenges you somewhat.
Devil's Ridge Golf Club
Played On 05/02/2015Overbooked without remorse for anyone.
Only go here if you can get an early tee time around 8am. I booked a tee time for 2pm on saturday. Normally weekends are more expensive and usually slower pace of play so i was ready for a 4 to 5 hour round. We get there early expecting to tee off 15 mins early. When we go up to the 1st tee there is 6 groups waiting to tee of. The starter lied and said they were 10 minutes behind tee times. We teed off at 2:35pm over a half hour late. After the first hole we waited another 20 minutes because it was so backed up. We paid for 18 but only played 11 or 12. By the time we were on 12 it was already 7pm. I was so mad when i found out the time because we had to leave. The sun was going down and we were there for 5+ hours already!!! I feel like they robbed me just like the mayweather pacciao fight. The worst part is that is a very nice course and i was playing great. I shot a 41 and my brother shot a 37. Would of loved to seen what we scored on 18 but we would have needed to start at 10am to finish that 8 hour round of golf. I have never in my life played a round so slow and i hope you don't get sucked into paying the premium price for that experience.
The comment devils ridge made on my review is a complete lie. I emailed them and the code they gave me was only 20% off and it only works on their specific website where the rates are much higher than on golf now so it ends up being more expensive that what I paid for my original round... I have yet to come back and I won't until they actually compensate me correctly. At least give us a rain check for 9 or something. We would love to come back but if we have a bad experience and they do nothing to help then why go back there?
We are so sorry that you had a sub-par experience at our course. We take pride in all that we do, and realize pace of play is an important factor when choosing a course. We usually don't have many issues similar to the one you listed above, and hope you will give us another chance. Please do email us at devilsridgeteetimes@outlook.com for a promo code towards your next online rund. We'd love to have you back and show you a true Devil's Ridge golf experience.
Cherry Creek Golf Club
Played On 05/01/20157 hour pace of play
We only played 9 holes but it took us over 3 1/2 hours. The course was overbooked and the older lady in the club house was rude because we were 4 minutes late for our tee time. It would make sense if we were holding groups up but we waited 25 minutes to tee off anyway. AVOID unless you want to play from sun up to sun down.
Bruce Hills Golf Club
Played On 04/25/2015Overbooked a lot so avoid if you can.
I have been to bruce hills numerous times and it has been getting worse everytime. The pace of play is about 5 to 6 hours for 18 which is ridiculous. I could because of the quality of players coming into a hard playing course but i doubt it. I would give it 5 stars across the board but the thing i hate most about golf is slow play. People who take 5 practice swings just to hit a shot 50 yards. Or those that pull out their 3 wood on a par 5 thinking they can get on in 2 from 250 out.. just pull out your 7 iron and hit a wedge for your 3rd. Besides the slow play the course was in great condition. Greens were solid and the fairways were dry. Only go here if you can get a deal. Don't pay premium price and NEVER go on the weekend unless you enjoy spending your entire day standing around.
East at Maple Lane Golf Club
Played On 04/24/2015Always a good place to play if you don't want to wait.
Maple lane has a bad reputation because it is an easy course. But that doesn't mean it's a bad course. Too many people base reviews off of the layout and how the course plays but i go by pace of play. Golf is only fun when you can play at your own pace. Maple lane is perfect for that because it is 54 holes. If you get stuck behind someone you can easily skip over to a different 18. The holes are pretty short unless you play on the red course which i try to as often as possible. There is no water only a few bunkers and the greens aren't elevated. The greens are in great condition though. They roll as good as a $50 course. This is a great place to go if you can pay under $20
Marsh Oaks at Oak Ridge Golf Club
Played On 04/24/2015Great for practice but that's it
This course is called old oaks for a reason. You can't beat a deal for $12 and a cart but It wasn't really challenging except for a few par 4's with a narrow tree line. Pretty much driver, wedge the entire round. The greens were just redone so putting was difficult but they had good speed. The carts were in bad shape, very old and worn.
Richmond Forest Golf Club
Played On 04/04/2015Accuracy and length are required.
The course is great for any golfer. The first hole is a good starter but still has a small green with water in front. After that it's all about where you land your drive. Each hole either has fairway bunkers, water or both. The par 3's are 170+ and the par 5's are challenging. Great course for under $25.
Thanks for the review John, we try and make sure we have a good product for our guests day in and day out. Tee boxes will be worked on here starting in summer to early fall. We hope to see you again soon at the BH
Are you sure we played on the same course? The cart path at Bruce hills was tore up, the rough wasn't cut, either were the tee boxes. Ponds had a film of algae on them as well.
