Oyster Reef Golf Course
Played On 06/15/2019Loooong but lovely course
This course, at more than 5300 yards from the forward tees, is way too long for all but the best women golfers and our pace of play was very slow today. But the course was in excellent condition and the people who work there are extremely nice. I would definitely play here again even if I can’t hope to score well.
Old South Golf Links
Played On 05/26/2019Tough test on a great course
This is one of our favorite courses. Beautiful views, challenging holes, and very good conditions. We played in the heat of the afternoon and had a 3.5 hour round. Nice!
Thanks for letting us know you enjoyed your round at Old South. We hope to see you here again soon.
Sapelo Hammock Golf Club
Played On 02/16/2019Beautiful course and great value
This was our first time at this course. It was in very good condition for winter, the greens were fast and fair, and the layout was interesting. Very good course for women and seniors who aren’t long hitters. Our only complaint is that the course let a six-some play ahead of us. The six guys tried to playbready golf, but they couldn’t get past the fact that there were 6 of them and 2 of us, which made for a slow round and a lot of waiting. The ranger came out to chat with them once (so the course was well aware that they were playing as 6), and neither the ranger nor this group let our twosome play through. Other than that, we had a great round.
Rose Hill Golf Club
Played On 10/23/2018Still Needs TLC
We love the layout, challenge and playability of this course and the new owners are terrific, but the course still needs some TLC, with bare spots on some greens and fairways. The last time we played it, about a month ago, it was starting to look really great, but when we played it today, it had taken a step backward. We haven’t had a lot of rain, so maybe it’s that. We are rooting so hard for Rose Hill to succeed, and they have a beautiful new clubhouse opening in November, so we will keep coming and supporting them.
Links at Gettysburg
Played On 09/22/2018Great course but sooooo slow
This is a beautiful and challenging course that is in pretty nice shape for the end of the season. However, our round was ridiculously slow. It took us three hours to play the first nine holes and two hours to play the back nine. On one hole (#7), we had four foursomes trying to play at the same time. A ranger came around (very nice) and apologized for the delay, blaming it on a slow group of older men four holes ahead. However, I think the real cause is that they are overplaying the course and scheduling tee times only 9 minutes apart! It’s like trying to squeeze 100 extra cars onto an already jammed freeway. This course has a lot going for it, but there is no excuse for a painfully slow round where you have to wait in every single shot.
Thank you for your review! we are sorry the course played so long and the pace of play was slow! Come See us again soon!
