Schaumburg Golf Club - Tournament/Baer Course
Played On 08/06/2022Great course, always in good shape
Schaumburg is always in great shape and the fact that they have 27 holes available and switch around the courses for 9 and 18 hole rounds, makes sure it never gets boring. It offers just the right amount of challenge with enough hazards, elevation change and difficult pin placements to keep you on your toes. And they actually water their greens! The restaurant is also way better than it has any right to be at a golf course. The prices are great and the food is outstanding.

I liked everything about the place but the course. It was baked, sandy and the grass was extremely spotty. The greens were in bad shape. Each hole has hazards on both sides all the way down each hole. The very skinny fairways and what little rough there is slopes towards the hazards on both sides. There is pretty much a 5 to 10 yard strip of safe landing zone down the middle of each fairway and if you don't land it there, you're probably in trouble. Driver is almost never a good option and laying up is almost mandatory on many holes just because of how much hazard area there is. Super difficult in a not fair or fun way.

This is one of our go to courses. They always seem to have some decent tee times open even when we book late. The course is somewhat challenging and always in good condition. Nice combination of tricky holes mixed in with some long and straight ones. The pace of play on this particular round was not good, but I'll attribute that to a couple of knucklehead groups ahead of us. The ranger did try to move them along multiple times. Overall good experience.

This course is close to our house and we play there quite a bit. The course is on the shorter side and if you can hit it straight consistently, you'll tear it up. It gets tricky off the fairway and the greens do have some slope making for some difficult puts. Generally the pace of play is very good and if the course is pretty open a 3 hour round is definitely doable.
