Slow-Veaga

I like almost everything about this course except it's painful pace of play. In an effort to be friendly and open, they allow too many five-somes on this course. The course Marshall's (that you see often) never do anything to push the slow groups along and so a round that should take 3 1/2 to 4 hours to play on a relatively short track inevitably takes 5 hours to play. I once played the front nine in 3 hours... before I gave up and walked off the course. If anyone wants to know the singular reason for the death of golf - it's the laboriously slow pace of play.

Quality Muni, Plagued by Slow Play & Useless Marshalls

It never fails, I enjoy a round of golf at Delaveaga and then the next time I play it's excruciatingly slow(and this was a thursday, not the weekend.) It baffles me that there is a constant presence of Marshall's roaming this course, lurking behind every dogleg bend but they do absolutely nothing to move play along. This course should take 3 1/2 to 4 hours to play and this past Thursday it took 5 hours to get around. I am not a fast, blast away player but it is no fun to have to wait on EVERY shot. The Marshall program at Delaveaga must be a relic program to appease some long time older golfers, because they do nothing to enforce wasted time. I have a job and a life, let me play and have fun.
Do I recommend this course, the answer is - hope you get lucky.

Bayonet's new layout is vastly improved, Blackhorse is marginally better with pathetic bunkers.

I like this facility, with top-notch practice areas for every part of your game, the courses are always in good condition and the newly designed layouts have improved the play, but the pace is usually slow and the bunker design(s) on Blackhorse are really trite and hokie. Bayonet still has some of that old style course feel and is more enjoyable to play.
