Highlands of Elgin
Played On 06/27/2018WOW!
First time playing this course and loved it!
The 5 hours it took to play was an anomaly. The surrounding courses were closed due to flooding from heavy rains. That meant this course was packed with the golfers who had been cancelled on those other courses. I could not believe how fast the greens were after all the rain we had. Now that I know the lay of the land I can't wait to play here again.

Everything went great when it should of been a disaster. Both the indoor and outdoor staff were amazing. They had lost power the night before and it was still out when I got there; and when I finished! How the indoor staff made that all work was awesome. Since they had a rain storm the night before the staff on the course seemed to be everywhere. The were picking up all the fallen branches, mowing everywhere and working on the standing water in the sand traps. I was really impressed with the entire staff's dedication and work ethic! Well done Big Run, Thank You

Paired up with Bill and his son Michael otherwise this round would of been BRUTAL! Had to wait on every tee box! No way this should happen on a Tuesday at 11am! Minimum two groups at a time on every hole, 3 groups at a time on 6 holes and 4 groups at a time on 2 holes! My Kingdom for a Ranger! Love to play this course, but never again this year. Will hope for better pace of play next year.

It had been 7 years since I played this course. I felt it was in much better shape this time around. The rough was high but thin so hitting out of it was not hard. The sand traps need a lot of work and the rakes weigh 100 pounds! The greens are in average shape because they are so small. Unless you are hitting the driver very straight I would leave it in the bag. To never see the beverage cart on a Saturday was a bummer. Always windy.
Astorhurst Country Club
Played On 10/5/2013This course had many surprise.
A very nice layout. It is a a short track so you tee off more with your irons than woods. I was very pleased that I was charged a lower rate at the course than on Golf Now. They had just changed to fall rates a few days before our scheduled date of play. So I am glad we paid at the course and not on line. My only disappointment was the conditions of the greens. They were not cut all day and they had recently been aerated. My carpet at home is smoother!

Played On 9/28/2013Nice experience.
I was surprised I could only use driver on 4 holes. I think the biggest weakness is the sand traps. However I was glad to hear in the bar after the round that the sand traps are a priority for next year. It is unfortunate the original layout had to be altered. I think people who buy a house on a golf course and then are surprised there house gets hit by golf balls are idiots! I should not be told on the 10th tee that hitting an iron is mandatory! All things considered playing the course was a good experience, but the food was better. I wish the bartender Kevin was not leaving, he was great!
We are sorry to hear pace of play affected your round at George Dunne. Our staff does its best to encourage reasonable pace of play on the course and apologize if you felt this was ineffective during your round. We are actively working on a pace of play improvement program and are optimistic that we can improve the speed of future rounds. We appreciate your feedback and hope you will be back to play again soon!
