Played On 03/21/2018Good course for Winter rounds
Most tees are moved forward for Winter play to normal greens (no temporary of Winter greens). Fairways are fairly generous and play to the greens from the edge or very light rough (as requested by the starter) is no problem. Most bunkers marked as GUR.
Greens had been aerated a few weeks prior so were a little bumpy in spots, but still had good pace. I would expect this course to be in great shape by end of April.
Pace of play was my own as hardly anyone else on the course on this cool, moderately windy, cloudy day.
Nairn Dunbar Golf Club
Played On 03/16/2018Great for Winter Play
The previous week, there had been snow, rain, and frosty conditions. Despite this, the course was in fine shape for play. Play was to regular greens which were actually fairly smooth and true. Starter gives you the option of using a portable mat for play from the fairways or moving the ball to the first cut of rough. As there isn't really any rough to speak of, that is by far the better option. Many tees were moved forward, shortening the course, but this seemed fair due to the windy conditions (around 20-30 mph avg that day).
The Muir of Ord Golf Club
Played On 03/12/2018Short But Testy
First time playing which happened to be after the area had snow, rain, and frost the previous week. There are only a few challenging holes of any real distance. Greens were quite slow and bumpy due to weather from previous week. The majority of holes are not particularly challenging - if you know where to hit your tee shots! I enjoyed the course layout so much that I played again one week later after the course had dried out and greens were much faster and true. Now with a little "course knowledge", I was able to drop 11 strokes from the previous round. Others have said the course layout is difficult to follow, but I had no problem using the course map on the back of the scorecard. Highly recommend.
Buenaventura Golf Course
Played On 05/02/2017Course has recovered
The locals I was playing with stated that most of the course was under water a few months ago. The greenskeeping staff have done an excellent job as the tee boxes and fairways are in great condition. The greens are near perfect: firm and fast. The course is short in total yards, but the greens have subtle breaks which kept my round challenging.
Tain Golf Club

The course layout in Winter is altered on four holes of which two use the original Tom Morris design making them shorter, but no less challenging. Despite playing at the end of Winter season, the fairways were dry. The greens are amongst the best in the area, running true and only a bit slower than would be expected.
Torvean Golf Club
Played On 03/17/2016Open yet challenging
Interesting layout beginning with a par 3 at the first. Course is fairly open with generous bail out areas on most holes on the first nine holes. Exception is #8 with water down the left side, but it is a short par 4. After crossing the busy A82, the course becomes even more open with generous fairways.. However, I have played the course several times and still find it challenging.
Skywest Golf Course
Played On 09/02/2015Nice course
Fairly open course and in good condition despite the ongoing California drought. Greens surprisingly soft allowing for target golf. All greens are elevated so I added a club for approach shots and got good results. Greens are soft, a bit bumpy and slow.
Reston National Golf Course
Played On 06/20/2015Very nice course
Playing as a single, I was paired with two other singles who preferred to play the back tees. I normally play mid-tees so this gave me a new perspective as I was playing longer approach shots. The course was in very good shape including the rough which was consistent. Most bunkers had good sand also. Greens were great if you like soft and somewhat bumpy. Course layout is quite varied both in direction and elevation so no two holes the same.
Pace of play is only complaint as I was unable to finish the last two holes due to impending lighting in the area which the groups ahead seemed unconcerned about. We were already at nearly 5 hours for the round at that point, but it was a Saturday with all the happy hackers out and about sigh.
Mount Odin Golf Course
Played On 09/18/2014Short, but challenging
Have to agree with most of the comments here. Challenging course for any level of play. Most of the shorter holes have well-contoured greens allowing for tough pin placements. 6 holes have blind tee shots adding a bit more challenge for a first-timer. All that said, would definitely play again.
Corica Park - The Earl Fry North Course
Played On 04/30/2014Best in years
Have played this course many times over the years. First round played this year and I must say that I was very impressed with the course conditions. For a public course that gets a lot of use, the tee boxes and fairways were in great shape. The greens were smooth and fast. The rough was also fairly consistent and challenging. The annual Commuters Tournament held last weekend and next is the likely reason why the course is in such great shape. Get out and play while these conditions last!
The Metropolitan Golf Links
Played On 7/24/2013Challenging but fair.
Grass range is in excellent shape. For mid-summer, course was well maintained. Tee boxes were excellent, a few bare spots on fairways, and the greens were fairly smooth and moderately fast. Course is open with water in play on only two holes.
