Calderfields Golf & Country Club
Played On 03/23/2019Challenging course
We played a 2 ball late Saturday afternoon and found the course not busy at all, and we're able to cruise around at our own leisure, which meant we were not rushed but not held up at all.
The course played well for march and the greens were a little on the slow side but once used to them we were fine. The course offered a lot of challenges with narrow fairways that mean you have to be accurate but long, otherwise you end up in the tree strewn rough meaning you will struggle to get par.
There are a fair few water hazards which add variety to the course , so it's not just plain bunkers dotted around.
Overall it's a challenging course for a weekend golfer.
Lichfield Golf & Country Club - Mill Course
Played On 05/07/2018Been a while since I came here, but the course is in fantastic condition albeit the greens are a little slow on average. Chipping on meant the ball would stop easier and not roll as much. The course layout is good for driving but the challenging part is the par 3's where three off them are over 200, making it difficult if you're not a big hitter. Really enjoyed the course ditches and and lots of sand traps means you have to think a bit more on the course.
Pype Hayes Golf Club
Played On 03/25/2018Shame no marshalls
Course in itself was good, but had play ruined by a lot of anti socials located around the course. Firstly on the first hole, locals let out Alsatians to run round the course, followed further up by another local letting out 3 staffs. Meant to be a golf course not a local park for dogs.
Secondly on the 11th, local kids entered the course to mess about, moving flags and putting off other golfers, and lastly another local used the 9th near end of day to practise with his drone, again putting off the golf players.
The course in itself is great, with greens to a good standard, and good longer back nines to test your longer game.
Shame no marshalls around to monitor the course, as this is letting down the standard of the club.
Hatchford Brook Golf Course
Played On 05/29/2017Played here for the first time in 5 years and noticed a vast improvement in the course and amenities that made it a good place to come to.
I started off driving and then lost 4 to 5 balls in the front nine as the rough is deep wide, and everywhere. Once I switched to an iron for straightness I improved my score greatly.
This is not a course to get your driver out and swing wildly at, as any balls off line will be lost.
If the rough was sorted out better then this would be a cracking course, but this is not something that i would be willing to pay more than a tenner for a round, as the game enjoyment went down a little because of this
