Eagle Ridge Golf Club
Played On 01/29/2024Getting Better
I have played Eagle Ridge many times over the years and always appreciated the design and challenge. I have also called out the deficiencies in its maintenance like years of bunkers overgrown with weeds and fairways under construction. But lately I have noticed the course is looking much better although still not perfect (but what course is?).
To summarize- this in a five star course in four star condition.
Moffett Field Golf Club
Played On 01/26/2024Nice Course
First time playing this course and I really enjoyed it. We played after recent heavy rains though, and it doesn't drain well with the bay 100' away. It was very swampy! Layout is nice although not especially challenging. Greens were in excellent condition.
Los Lagos Golf Course
Played On 11/07/2023Hidden Gem
I always enjoy playing Los Lagos. Great variety of holes with short and long par 3s, fun par 4s, and long par 5s. The roughs are lush which can be challenging and the greens are in nice shape.

Played On 08/14/2023Awesome Course in Mediocre Condition
I have played this course many times over the years because of its spectacular variety of challenging and scenic holes. However, the condition is always rough (although the finally got the bunkers fixed). You'll see loads of dead or dying foliage along the fairways, dirt patches in the fairways (I chipped off a small dirt mound ten feet from the 17th green), and this time I noticed someone is filling holes on the greens with a different variety of grass that doesn't match - many were pockmarked with what almost looked like clover. (also, the bathroom next to the lunch window looks like it could be from a gas station)
This course could be one of the absolute best around with some investment, but it always seems to feel like they are letting it go. Yet they still charge premium course green fees.
Eagle Ridge Golf Club
Played On 01/18/2023Extra Fee, Poor Condition
When I checked in for my pre-paid tee time from Golfnow I was politely asked to pay an additional $9 fee for "course maintenance." I asked about it and was told it was because costs had gone up. "Course maintenance," isn't that the same thing as green fees? I play Eagle Ridge three or four times a year. It's a very challenging course with a great variety of holes. But it is almost always in rough condition. For years the bunkers were under construction, now it seems half the fairways are. One par 5 has been cut in almost half for a while now so you play it as a par 4.
This course could be a real jewel, in good condition it could be one of the best in Santa Clara County, but there is always some type of excuse for why it's in shabby condition, and now they're charging add-on fees that I have never paid anywhere else.

Eagle Ridge Golf Club
Played On 11/15/2022Great Course in Below Average Condition
I have played this course numerous times over the years and love the views, layout, and challenge. But the course condition is often disappointing and was especially bad this last time. Many fairways have huge dirt patches with ground under repair (some freshly seeded) that isn't labeled as such. There are areas that are overgrown and just poorly cared for. It's a shame because this should be a Country Club quality course, it's that good of a layout. But be prepared to play winter rules regardless of the weather.

Pajaro Valley Golf Club
Played On 04/15/2022Premium Layout, Average Condition
We really enjoyed the layout of this course although much of the rough was overgrown and weedy. The views were great, and the holes were fun with elevation changes, a few forced carries, and some interesting greens. We will likely play it again.
Eagle Ridge Golf Club
Played On 08/05/2019A Formerly Great Golf Course
I have been playing Eagle Ridge for seven or eight years and always considered it one of my favorites. But it has been horribly neglected as of late. Half the bunkers have signs saying under repair and they are filled with weeds. The tee boxes are torn up and weedy. The trails between holes are overgrown with weeds. Why? This is a fantastic course - challenging, long, and in a beautiful setting. But it looks like no one is taking care of it. What a disappointment, I loved this course and always felt it was a treat to get to play there. I played today at 4:30, and there were only a few cars in the parking lot and I only saw one other player on the course. The good news is I played 18 holes in three hours from the pro tees.

Ridgemark Golf & Country Club
Played On 08/28/2015Fun but easy course
I never played this course before they reduced it to just 18 holes so I can't compare to its past configuration. This is a pretty easy course with few hazards. It winds through a community of houses so most fairways have houses on either side. The greens were in nice shape and the fairways were okay. I played out of two sand traps and both had nice sand so you could use a proper sand shot. There are some decent length par-fives and the par-threes were as long as 190 yards. My typical score for 18 is 100 and I easily shot a 94 here with mostly bogeys, a few pars, and a few doubles.
Rancho del Pueblo Golf Course
Played On 10/28/2014Little Jewel in the middle of San Jose
We played Rancho Del Pueblo for the first time yesterday and really enjoyed the course. It is very short and not too challenging but pleasant and in nice shape. My only complaint is the goose droppings. The geese themselves were no problem but they leave a lot of droppings on the fairways and around the greens so you need to watch your step. The two gentlemen in the pro shop were especially friendly to us first timers.
Deep Cliff Golf Course
Played On 08/17/2014Fun short course but not in great shape.
This is a fun little course with nice scenery and wildlife to work on your short game. There are only six par-4s and the longest are only about 290 yards. I have two complaints: the tee boxes are horrible with many actually being mostly sand around patches of dead grass which makes it tough to have steady footing on your drives, and secondly, the tee boxes are moved around without changing the yardage signs. A fellow golfer used his fancy site to measure the distance on some holes and they were off by 20+ yards.
Cinnabar Hills Golf Club - Lake/Canyon
Played On 07/11/2014Beautiful Oasis in the Hills
I played this course for the first time this week: Monday I played the Mountain/Lake courses and Friday the Lake/Canyon courses. This is a very scenic and entertaining course. It is not especially hard although some holes have some forced carries but it has good character with lots of elevation changes. Some of the holes are like The Ranch but more forgiving. For similar money I would rather play Cinnabar than Coyote, especially the valley side.
Coyote Creek Golf Club - The Tournament Course
Played On 06/29/2014Coyote Creek Tournament 18
This was our first time playing the tournament side after playing the valley side at least five or six times. The tournament 18 is a little more challenging and has a bit more character. There is no escaping the noise and views of the freeway that the course runs alongside but the scenery was otherwise very nice. The fairways were in pretty good shape but it is still easy to lose a ball here if you are slightly off line.
Eagle Ridge Golf Club
Played On 01/13/2014Beautiful and challenging course
This is really nice course tucked in to the hillside and surrounded homes. It is difficult because it is very unforgiving if you don't hit fairways. Tough for a novice like me but very enjoyable.
Los Lagos Golf Course
Played On 12/8/2013A little paradise in the middle of town.
Interesting course with an abundance of challenging par-5s and lots of par-3s. This was my first time there and I really enjoyed it. They made the most of this small space in the middle of town.
A beautiful fox accompanied me on the fourth hole and showed no fear when I got within 15' of him. I caught him sniffing my cart when I was teeing off.
