Wyncote Golf Club
Played On 05/19/2022Solid course, but overpriced for what it is.
This is a solid course, it's well maintained and the greens roll nice, but this is not a top tier course by any stretch, compared to the DC area this course is over-priced for the quality. It's a links style and not super entertaining, typical course within a residential area. The quality of the greens and fairways is the only appeal here, certainly not the layout. I'm told they can charge a premium because this area lacks good tracks, so very little competition. The staff seems pretty proud of the place, but then they charge you $5 for a tiny bucket of very crappy old range balls, this is not how a "good" course operates. We played it because it was 1/2 way between a few friends, I'd play it again but hold my nose at the greens fee. Some of the other reviews said they liked it better than Bulle Rock, to each his own but I completely disagree.
Richland Golf Club
Played On 08/22/2020Above Average Course
I've seen this place go up and down over the years, currently it is in pretty nice shape, the greens currently have a few scars on them from the heat, but the fairways and tee boxes are in nice condition. It is a residential course, very narrow in places, but lots of variety to make it fun. Customer service is usually very good here, but on this day the starter was on the phone ignoring everyone for like 20 minutes, (which is out of character). They also seem to resist working in singles compared to other courses (which is why I seldom play here, because they act like it is a hassle. so I play other courses that are single-friendly). It's priced appropriately, not as nice as the top tier courses in this area, but a step up from the muni tracks, a solid medium.
Glade Valley Golf Club
Played On 06/05/2015Good value, nice public course
Nice course to walk, played tips, which are not that much further back than whites. For a sub $40 course, pretty nice value. Certainly not a premier course, but certainly not a dog track either. Nice average course (mean this in a good way), moderate difficulty, not a "wide open" course for sure, but some holes are forgiving, with a couple alley holes as well, some of the par 4's are a little on the long side. Really a good mix, something for every ability, I will play again for sure.
Maryland National Golf Club
Played On 10/9/2013One of the Area's Best!
Great course, great staff, always in superb condition, greens are fast and true, great layout. My only complaint with this course is that there seems to be a regular contingent of folks that play SO SLOW, and they are clueless about letting you play through. Wish the marshal would educate this group of folks!! I marked the value as average based on retail price, but with GolfNow price incredible value.
Links at Gettysburg
Played On 10/6/2013Awesome Course!
Cannot believe I have not heard about this course sooner, it was awesome. The greens were fabulous, fast and true, I played Ohio State Scarlett a few days earlier and Gettysburg's were nicer. The only other course in the area I would compare this to is Maryland National, very similar in terms of style, greens, bunkers, etc. Staff was great. There was a good mix of challenges, the Golfnow discount makes this a great value. I'll be back regularly if possible!
Rocky Gap Casino Resort
Played On 9/30/2013Nice course but don't pay retail
Scenic course in the mountains, well maintained, but not really my idea of an $80/round course, in other words, it is nice, but not on par with other $80 courses. With the Golfnow discount, it was a great value. I'm a 7 handicap and found the course challenging and entertaining, no major complaints on upkeep, greens are hard underfoot, so ball doesn't check well with short irons, yet they putt slow due to grass length.
