Sequoyah State Park Golf Course
Played On 09/04/2016Challenging Public Owned Course
Fairways are well kept in spite of the flinty soil. Greens are very challenging, they must be read carefully, as most have more than one slope Carts are in good condition, staff is friendly and knowledgeable[they know golf]. Other players are personable and do not mind letting faster players play threw. We have played two other Oklahoma State owned courses and this one is the most challenging and has the most character. The views of Gibson Lake are great.
Patricia Island Golf Club
Played On 09/02/2016A Hidden Gem
This is an excellent course, challenging and well laid out. We played on a nice day in late summer, it was not hot. We practically had the course to ourselves. The only other player we encountered was a single player who was playing fast, we allowed him to play threw on the 17th hole. The bunkers were in bad shape because of recent rain storms. We were unhurried. Pro shop staff was very helpful.
Pryor Creek Municipal Golf Course
Played On 07/24/2016A HIDDEN GEM
Seldom a wait on the first tee. Friendly staff, even a roving Marshall to check on players on hot summer days. Located several miles from a main highway behind an industrial park makes it somewhat hidden. The course is well maintained by paid greens keepers as well as community service workers paying off fines. Greens are fast with tricky breaks. Lots of mature pecan trees provide welcome shade. Water comes into play on half the holes. Sand traps are a course heavy sand.
Woods Golf Course
Played On 06/10/2016Good Day in the Country
This par 70, 18 hole course is nearby the Tulsa metro area and only a short drive to the club. Greens are in very good shape, fairways well groomed, and although mostly flat terrain very challenging. Several dog leg holes and an abundance of water hazards make up for the lack of sand. We were unhurried here and didn't have to wait for groups ahead of us. Green fees are very fair, we will be back.
Grand Cherokee State Park Golf Course
Played On 07/15/2015Good State Owned Course
Very helpful staff, also friendly. Course has good character, hills valleys and water. Fairways and greens are groomed nicely, fast greens. Fairways are shaded by mature trees, underbrush is mostly cleared away. No noxious weeds near inbounds areas. A nine hole course with double holes on the greens works out well as the course is not usually exceptionally busy. Carts are well maintained and gasoline powered. Whitetail deer roam freely throughout the course to add to the scenery. Bunkers sand has been packed down this year due to unseasonal rain storms all spring and summer.
Nowata Country Club
Played On 06/19/2015Good City Owned Course In A Small Community
Lots of fun here, very little water hazard, not much sand. Course is 4 city blocks square, no par 5's. Play the course twice using different tee boxes each time for a little variety. Weekends there may be chili or stew offered at no charge. Definitely part of the community, with domino room across the hall from the full bar which remains open after dark. Whatever sport is in season will be on the big screen tv in the bar. Geen fees are very reasonable.
Cherokee Hills Golf Club
Played On 05/12/2015Good Resort Course
A challenging course offers water hazards as well as bunkers. Several dog legs and contours. Many sloped greens test your putting skills. Cherokee Casino bought this mature course formerly called Spunkey Creek, some alterations and improvements were made.
Hillcrest Golf Course
Played On 11/12/2014Great Vista High on Hill Overlooking the City
Great character on this well kept public course. Hills and valleys are abundant and sweeping. A welcome change from some of the flatter courses in the Midwest. Clubhouse staff is accommodating and very helpful. The hard work of groundskeepers shows as you play. Some challenging narrow fairways, so leave your slice at home. Burgers at the clubhouse are delicious and filling, fries are crisp and tasty. The Golf Channel is always on the clubhouse TV.
Eighteen at Eagle Crest Golf Course
Played On 09/23/2014Great Convention Break
Good value for the money. Well maintained last year before all the rain. We played It twice, a day apart. Some challenging water hazards, not too much sand.
