San Vicente Golf Resort
Played On 03/17/2024Nice day
Played after a rain. Everything was green! Course was surprisingly dry and no cart path only! Pace was good. Finished under 5 hrs. Will come back

Course in good condition for winter. Bunkers lacking sand though. Weekend golf avg 5hrs. Friendly staff.
San Vicente Golf Resort
Played On 09/18/2022Getting better
Played on football Sunday which thinned out the crowds a little. About 5hrs starting from noon. The course has gotten better since the beginning of the year. (The other twosome ith me said San V is in better condition than Maderas!)
Fairways are above avg. Greens are true, fast, and goofy.....prices are in par with other courses in its category....
San Vicente Golf Resort
Played On 10/10/2021Course redone
The course went through a "slight remodel" . Course layout is still the same with some trees removed.
The greens were redone with more slope and speed, similar to encintas ranch. Newer carts. Of course, changes come with a higher price tag. Pace of play depends upon how many members are added to the regular tee sheet. San V may need to lower pricing to compete with Mt Woodson. Worth playing at least once.
North at Admiral Baker Golf Course

Steele Canyon Golf Club - Canyon/Ranch
Played On 11/27/2020Still good
Usual friendly staff. Starter who actually does their job and send out players that prevents bottlenecks. Marshalls keeps pace moving. Multiple cart persons on course. And most importantly, the course is in good shape. Winter time golf is best when temperature is comfortable
The Legacy Golf Club
Played On 04/18/2020Excellent value
Course was in great shape. Fast greens and pace of play was excellent. You would normally pay double the price for something similar in San Diego.
Terrific! Thank you for your kind words. We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing The Legacy Golf Club.
North at Admiral Baker Golf Course
Played On 02/27/2020Excellent value
North course is in good condition. Tee boxes, sand traps, and fairways are good. Greens are slow. Staff are always nice and helpful. As usual, pace of play is slow if your tee time is after 11am
However, this being one of the only " Big San Diego city courses" less than $40 per round ( the other is Balboa), I highly recommend playing here

Arrowood Golf Course
Played On 01/02/2021Fun times
As someone previously wrote, the first thing I noticed was the music playing when I walked up to the pro shop . Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves outside in the courtyard having a beverage or lunch. So cool to hear laughter during this pandemic.
The staff were pleasant and courteous. As for the golf course, the layout was both easy and challenging. Since it was winter, the fairways were dry and your drives would roll an additional 30-50 yards! However, your second shot would be challenging due to the tight lies. Overall, I would recommend this course for anyone in the area.
Journey at Pechanga
Played On 11/14/2020Casino Golf
Ahhhh. Casino golf is almost like a private course. They have a positive cash flow which allows them to charge premium prices. This equates to limited players tearing up the course. The staff was gracious. Separate parking from casino and the clubhouse was excellent. Premium carts- covid rules allowed single carts which helps speed play. Greens were fast. Now for the not so special. We had a beginner group ahead of us. Took 3+ hours to play front 9. Cart path, no marshals, and that the slow group didn't know etiquette to allow us to play through was frustrating.. Finally in the back 9, we " vocally pushed" them to play faster (darkness approaching) and completed back 9 in 2.5 hours. IMO, the elevated tees were gimmicky. Some fairways were being worked on but not that big of a deal. Overall, I would recommend that you play here at least once. Will return when Cart path is not in force.
Almost there...
The course has been making steady improvements over the past year. Greens were the best I ever played there (fast) and the fairways and bunkers are improving. There were lots of employees working on the course during our round. The price was a bargain ($30) but I suspect it will change once everythng is completed. This is both a positive and negative. The positive is that it seems the higher the price to play a course, the faster the pace of play. The negative is the higher price itself.. Still, I will be back.
Thank you for taking the time to review us! Your feedback is valuable, and we look forward to delivering you excellent service again soon. Enagic Golf Club at Eastlake thanks you!
Mt. Woodson Golf Club
Played On 11/09/2019Excellent value
There are many great courses outside San Diego city proper. About an hours drive from downtown SD. We played on a Saturday at 1220 and finished at 430. ( It gets dark around 5 here) This includes some extra time to look for errand shots and a slower group ahead of us. Course is in great condition. Didn't need a driver since most holes can be reached with irons. A hotdeal at $37 made it even better.
Rams Hill Golf Club
Played On 10/19/2019Great 2019 Fall start
Course is in great shape . Weather wasn't too hot and the wind was manageable. Marshalls were always present to keep the flow going. Usual delay at the two consecutive par 3's but the snack bar/restroom is nearby. Only downside was that it was cart path only for the opening weekend. But the reduced rate made up for the inconvenience. The afternoon is usually empty and I wish they offered discount rates for replay.
North at Torrey Pines Municipal Golf Course
Played On 10/06/2019Good Muni course
First time playing North since the reno. Got lucky to get a decent tee time. (Getting decent tee times online is similar to getting comic con tickets) The North course was in good conditon. Pace of play was slow due to an event that morning (It did not mention this during booking). I recommend that you play this course during the week. I still get peeved that the cart is $40 (not part of city operations). But I guess being a resident gets me a cheaper tee time so it's a wash. Still $92 to play a course can add up if you play multiple times per week.
Steele Canyon Golf Club - Canyon/Ranch

Weekends are usually slow everywhere except private courses. However, for public places during football season, you can find courses empty where you can complete a round in 4 1/2hrs.
I've played all three courses here so I know the layout. Very challenging and fun. Fairways are a bit arid but the sand & greens we're ok. Twosomes everywhere sped up the pace. Never saw any cartperson or Marshall.
I would always go back because this course is fun to play
Maderas Golf Club
Played On 12/16/2018Good time... good course
4-1/2 hour round on a weekend is always welcome. Course is in good shape. Greens are fast. The rains several weeks ago messed up my home course
( Balboa) , so I took advantage of a golf now special and was glad that I did. Almost forgot how nice these premium courses are fun to play on. Oh yes, the personnel at Maderas is always courteous and helpful..
Highly recommend this course.
Good value!
Second time playing. First time playing, course was in poor shape and haven't been back in many years. Friend told me course has improved so I gave it another try. Have to agree with many posters that greens and fairways were in great condition. Bunkers and tee boxes needs help. Short par 4's help keep scores low. For less than $40 bucks, it's a bargain.
Now that salt creek is closed, Eastlake has an opportunity to make this the best public course in the south bay. Maybe they can imitate Rancho Bernardo inn golf course and make this a destination place?
Rams Hill Golf Club
Played On 04/07/2018Worth the drive
Nice course nestled in the middle of no where. It's a moderate drive from San Diego so I would recommend that you look into stay/play or play when the weather is ideal.
Drove up for the day. Weather was 96 degrees and very windy. Friendly staff. Good food in clubhouse. Tee time was 10 am but was able to go out a bit earlier. Fairways, greens and sand were in great condition. Lots of water/ice on course. Probably the best I've played but I usually play Muni's so any $$$ courses would wow me.
Played from the whites. The par 4's were shorten which allowed for a low score. I would recommend playing early to avoid the wind. Back nine had ridiculous headwind which was frustrating but an experience in itself.
Overall, if you have the time and money, Rams Hills is a worth the drive.
Thank you edsbeds for the four star rating and review from your recent Rams Hill visit. We are pleased you could make the course a part of your weekend! Come back and visit us again soon.

Staff was friendly and courteous. Course was arid with lots of tight lies but is expected after dry winter. Layout is challenging.
The Vineyard at Escondido
Played On 02/27/2016Great surprised
Always heard good things about this course but distance always held me back. What a mistake on my part. The course is challenging and scenic. The fairways and greens were good shape. Price is right too. Will definitely come back again. Bonus: Winery next door!
