Fox Golf Club
Played On 05/25/2018Decent course
It's a nice public course with wide Fairways and rough not too many places to get in trouble my only complaints were all the ball washers or dry and the guy cutting the grass was following right behind us on every hole instead of starting at 18 and finishing at 1
Ironwood Golf Club
Played On 05/08/2018Wide open
A nice layout mostly wide fairways making it fairly easy to play. There's a couple of streams that cross quite a few of the holes but the excellent GPS systems on the carts give yardage to and how much carry is needed.
The Rock Golf Club
Played On 09/18/2017Bad weather
We've played this course before and it's beautiful unfortunately this time we got rained out after only six holes there was standing water on all the fairways and the course should have been closed before we started due to lightning in the area I felt we were treated kind of like second-class citizens in the Pro Shop due to the fact that we were on a golf now hot deal
Sarasota National Golf Club
Played On 12/07/2016Wide open
An excellent course for beginners it's really tough to get into trouble here the greens were very true and fast the bunkers had lots of fluffy sand and we had a great
Deerhurst Highlands Golf Course - Deerhurst Lakeside
Played On 07/19/2016Very slow round no marshal
A fairly easy short executive type course. We should have been done in under 3 hours not the 4 1/2 we took. We had a hot deal and even with that the value wasn't very good. I won't be playing there again.
Diamond In The Ruff Golf Club
Played On 06/22/2016Like playing in a garden
The staff was very friendly and didn't charge for pull carts. Course was in great shape and there's lots of well kept flower beds along the way. The only disappointment was when we played last year we were told it was a dog friendly course and we planned to take our dog with us this time but I checked after booking and was told no dogs allowed.
Maitland Club
Played On 04/29/2016Nice 9 holes
It's a mature course beside the river at Goderich but the river only comes into play on one hole. It's pretty wide open with most of the difficulty factor being the length of the holes. Green to tee is reasonably short so it's a nice course to walk. The day we played it was almost empty and we were done in well under 2 hours.
River Valley Golf and Country Club
Played On 07/09/2015short course
A very short course with mostly par 3's The greens and fairways were very good but the rough was long enough to make finding balls a challenge I will play here again.
Sand Hills Golf Resort
Played On 05/14/2015short course
I like sand hills it's a short easy course that I've played many times. The fairways and rough were in good condition. The greens had just been top dressed but they were surprisingly fast and true. Pace of play was fantastic, nobody in front and a single catching up on the last hole.
Thames Valley Golf Course - Hickory 9
Played On 10/05/2013Short and easy
Thames valley is a nice old course with lots of mature trees but not much else to get into trouble with. Everything was well kept and in good condition. Rain was forecast on the day we played and we were all alone so we got our nine in less than 2 hours. The next tee is close to the green and its fairly flat making it a nice course to walk.
Tarandowah Golfers Club
Played On 9/21/2013overpriced mediocre course
To be fair the weather before we played was terrible with torrential rain most of the night before. I called to see if the course was open and was told that things were in pretty good shape but I would have to walk as no power carts were allowed. So I drove the hour plus to get there and headed out into the worst conditions i have ever played in. There was water on almost every fairway and 2' deep in some places. I lost several balls in muddy puddles in the middle of the fairway and retrieved many others with my 15' ball retriever, anything hit into a bunker was gone. The course should have been closed for the day and allowed to dry out.
The poor conditions of the day aren't what leads me to not recommend the course though. It is proud of being named #9 out of the top 50 courses in Ontario but from what I saw it is a middle of the pack course at best. The greens were very nice but the tee blocks and fairways were not in great shape with lots of unrepaired divots dozens of broken tees not cleaned up and litter. The signage was minimal, no yardages, many holes didn't have a ball washer or garbage can. The fescue rough is mostly just weeds. The numerous pothole bunkers are filled with muddy beach sand. No beverage cart the day we played, there was a marshal on the course but I'm not quite sure what he was doing, we caught up to and had to follow a slow fivesome for the last 4 holes and we saw a sevensome (yes 7) on the front nine as we were finishing.
Parry Sound Golf and Country Club
Played On 9/8/2013NIce course but too slow
A fun course to play. The back nine has very narrow fairways and we spent lots of time in the woods. There was lots of time to look for lost balls as we were waiting at every tee. All the par 3s are very short with small greens.
Deer Run Golf Course
Played On 8/27/2013small slow greens
An interesting course with a lot of easy holes and some spectacular tee shots .the cart paths were in poor condition but the course was reasonably well cared for. The greens are often tiny so good aim is required to score well. In many ways it compares well with other courses in the area that cost twice as much or more. Don't be fooled by the total lack of curb appeal ,the club house is tacky and what is visible from the road looks like a farm field but just over the hill is a lovely course. We will definitely play here again and it will likely become our first choice for when we're at our cottage.
Fanshawe Golf Course - Quarry
Played On 8/18/2013Wide open nice course
Great value for money if you can book a hot deal on this course. At full price I wouldn't have been very impressed. Most of the tee blocks were within 10 yards of each other. Hardly worth having 3 separate tees. Wide open fairways and reasonably short rough made it easy to score well even when my drives went wild. Out and back layout means no quitting after nine.
Widder Station Golf and Country Club
Played On 8/16/2013Nice lay out
We had a great time. The service was great . The grass on the rough was a bit too long made it tough to find balls and to play out of. The gravel cart paths could use attention lots of bumps and ruts. Other than that it was great and we will be returning soon.
The Rock Golf Club
Played On 7/8/2013lightning fast greens
I'm a novice golfer and don't always hit straight so I found I went through a lot of balls. I found the course very challenging but not unfair. Definitely worth playing.
I have just played this course. It had also rained the previous night. I did not encounter such terrible fairway conditions. Yes, some of the many, many bunkers contained water from the previous night but I did not lose balls within them. I could not disagree more about the course. I also drove a lengthy distance to play this course. However I had read many reviews and took notice of others suggestions. THE GUIDE/YARDAGE BOOK. It was a must for this course. Starter confirmed that we should play from the appropriate tees for our handicap. Something that far to many golfers at this course did not. We noticed far to often many hackers driving shots everywhere but straight. Ending up in fescue or bunkers. Causing unacceptable delay to the round. This course does not favor the fool. Your main gripe was the course's inability to drain. Again if you had researched you'd have realized that it does not drain very quickly. I have played many so called links courses of varying green fee prices and not a one holds a candle to the layout and authentic feel of Tarandowah. It is inexpensive to play and is great value for your dollar.
