Needs Serious Work

TL/DR The course is rough shape and needs some help.

I've played this course a few weeks ago and it was a different course. Its if they just decided to stop taking care of it and giving it the love that it needs to be in good condition. The fairways are patchy and have numerous bald or weedy patches, the rough blends with the fairway at times it's hard to know which is which, the greens have sand clumps (they almost look like giant ant hills) and bald patches and speed was very inconsistent. Traps for the most part were OK. The staff is friendly which is a plus but there is almost ZERO organization with the starter. They have almost no idea what's going on and what they are doing. We checked in, they said they'd come get us, never did, we go back and check in again, we get set to 1st tee, arrive and 2 foursomes waiting. The driving range only had a few patches of grass so hitting off the mats was forced. There is nothing really at the turn except water, cart girl came by once and said if we need anything to call the proshop.

This is the peak season for golf in South Florida and prices usually reflect that so I expect more. There are substantially better courses available a little south and after playing here I'll be playing other courses. Very disappointing they let the course go like this it use to be nice, not amazing but better than this for sure.

Overall a Great Course for the money

Like the title says overall this is a really a great course for the money you're paying. I'm basing this review on current conditions. This really is a top course in the area but a few things keep it back form getting over the hump from 4 to 5 stars. They really lack in staff and the restaurant/bar. The starters are almost useless and always disorganized, I wouldn't say they are rude but I certainly wouldn't say they are friendly. Once on the course do not expect anyone to ever marshall or help move people along. There is no cart service. Lately a number of greens have fallen off what I normally expect from this course, in a few holes expect a crazy number of ball marks and some bouncy putts here and there. If they could only keep the greens like the practice green. All that said the course is really fun and has a number of risk reward type holes. Water can come into play, if not just to give you something to think about. A few holes have uphill approach and play longer than you think even compensating for uphill. Most traps you can hit out of and aren't hard packed. On average a weekend round takes about 4 hours, which is about par for weekends on a crowded course right now.

A very fun course and great value

I play the course a few times a month and every time I play I'm always surprised on the condition of the course being that it's a muni. The fairways and greens are most always in good shape occasionally you find some GUR, but usually because of a water. They need some work on a number of tee boxes, but I would say it is on par with the vast majority of courses down here. They need to be leveled and filled in at places. I find the pace always moves but it gets traffic so there is your average wait on weekend mornings. It's a great deal for the afternoon rate and find I can place a fast round. The range is decent and usually hitting off grass but occasionally you use the mats. Practice green for chipping is nice and putting green rolls true. The one down side is the staff, they do thier jobs but not the friendliest bunch but by no means rude, just a smile wouldn't hurt. This is a solid 4 star course and tremendous value, definitely a course to check out.

Was expecting more

I play weekly in south FL and got a hot deal here so gave it a try. The course was maybe a notch above average. The starter and proshop staff were pleasant, I certainly would not say they were warm and friendly. I will say that the ranger was very friendly, he was doing his best to keep people moving but also spacing people out on the course. I always feel you can judge a course by tee boxes and greens. The tee boxes were average to below average, angled and wobbly, you struggle to find flat area and a decent spot on part 3's. The greens were good, rolling consistently but plenty of ball marks all over. I feel they capitalize on thier name and provide at best an average experience. There are plenty of other courses I would play before this, better values and better conditions.
