Barony at Port Royal Golf Club
Played On 09/17/2018Fun course on a hot day.
Played the course after opening from post hurricane closure, and was in overall good condition. Nice practice facilities. Tees and fairways well grassed. The greens were a bit on the slow side (part of the issue was we did not get to the practice green to adapt for speed). The sprinkler heads are marked for distance, if you can find them. (Posts, every 50 yards, would be helpful.) I would play the course again and recommend with the stipulation that you practice putt before going out on the course.
Old South Golf Links
Played On 09/16/2018One of my favorite HHI courses
Played as a twosome on a Sunday afternoon and finished in 3 1/2 hours. Staff is always friendly. It is a nice layout with a couple quirky holes where you can hit too long or too short, with carries over junk on both tee and green shots. (Suggest you go for long and pray.) Greens a little slow due to heat and rain and the areas fronting the greens were very soft, so you can't play for bump and run shots. Practice areas are good. The course is a good value and is the first course on Bluffton off HHI.
Enjoy.
PS: If there is an alligator on the floating putting green behind the clubhouse, it's not a fake.
Hilton Head National Golf Club
Played On 10/10/2013Good course and first off the island of Hilton Head
Greens are in perfect condition, as are the fairways. Ball sits up on the fairways. Greens are fast and firm so gear down a bit on pitch shots. The fairways are dry but the ball does not roll out after landing. You will have an enjoyable day.
Also played Eagles Pointe and Shipyard and their greens were also in excellent shape.
Thanks for taking the time to share your comments. We appreciate the 4 star review and hope to be on your list of "must plays" in the Hilton Head area.
