Morgan Hill Golf Course

First time and last time playing this course. The staff was friendly and very personable, so they get 5 stars. The course was in average shape, a few dry spots on the greens that needed repair, but the greens were challenging and enjoyable. Now, the layout, seemed like every tee shot was a blind shot. The elevation changes from hole to hole were insane. At one point we didn’t go down or level out for 3-4 holes. Every shot is an uneven lie, fairway or not. It’s a “hill” course with links layout. Not my style of course, but to each their own. Good luck.

Nothing wrong with the course, the staff and the pace. First time playing and will play it again. The staff was great, helpful and sociable. The course for the middle of November was in perfect condition, better than some courses in the summer. The only issue I had with this round was one regular player who decided it was a good idea to remind our foursome about pace of play while he was walking up to the 3rd tee box. Meanwhile his group hadn’t finished the 2nd hole. It’s people like this that ruin rounds for others. A bloated, blowhard who just want to tell people how to play, so he can feel n charge. Either a Marshall or the Head Groundskeeper was notified by this guy and he approached us on the 4th. All while staying a good distance between the groupings. Now to the Marshall’s credit he was professional and almost embarrassed he had to approach us. He saw how much space was between the groups and apologized at the turn. Class act all around by this gentleman. This employee alone has made me want to return to this course. Play the course, enjoy the layout and disregard “Biff Tannen” with his automatic cart. Pfffftttt.

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much. I found this course to be challenging and “getable” at the same time. Used my driver way too much and paid the price on some holes. Now if your precise with that stick, than you’ll be set up with good looks to the greens. Tee boxes we’re beat up, but you could find a spot on everyone that was ok enough to tee it. The fairways were in very good condition, first cut was distinct enough to leave some nice lies. The rough was trimmed down, so finding your errand shots were manageable. The greens were aerated and healing, so the putting was a bit bumpy. I can see the greens being real nice in a few weeks though. All in all, this course is worth the play. Easy to get to and worth the price.

The course was in really good condition. The greens could’ve been tended to a bit more with the amount of ball marks around, but all in all pretty good. Had a 0700 tee time and staff didn’t arrive until 0650ish. No problem there, we hit off about 0705 or so. Red was the better shape of the 2, Blue had most of the marks on the greens. Don’t understand why White isn’t used more, I’m sure there’s a reason. Just over 3 hour round, met a decent golfer and had a round with my friend. And back home before 11:30, Happy Labor Day to me.

The layout of the course is challenging. Definitely do not need a driver on these holes. Unless you’re precise with the big stick. The fairways were hard in soMe spots and extremely soft in others. Crabgrass throughout the entire course. If it wasn’t for the $25 hotdeal, would’ve been really upset paying the full price. The greens were above average, but previous golfers did not fix their marks. I can’t really blame the course for that. All in all, challenging with the layout, but conditions made it harder than it should’ve been.

I’ve played this course plenty of times. I feel like the course is tight with treelines and uneven rough throughout. Fairways were in ghastly conditions, but greens were better than average. I went off around 6:30am, thick fog and basically was hitting into a blind spot the first 9. Not ideal with the narrow fairways. Like I said the greens were the best part of this course and I was actually impressed with them. I will definitely play again, as I want to score low on this track that has always given me trouble.

I’ve played this course plenty of times. It’s convenient and always easy to walk up and start playing. The course was in good shape. Fairways and greens were decent, pins were in good positions and pace was excellent. A lot of hornets in multiple spots on throughout the course, but it was manageable. The price seems high for a walking 9 ($21). Nothing really to complain about course, can’t really say much about the staff as they basically just take your payment and turn back to what they were doing. Average experience all together, most likely will play there again to get steps in and work on my swing for a real track.

Easy to get on and off the first tee. No waiting and the pace throughout the round was perfect. It’s a really good 9 hole course. The course calls for all types of shots, from driver to wedges. You could use every club in your bag in just 9 holes. The dog legs make the course longer than it is, but being winter could cut through the turns without the chance of losing a ball. The tee boxes were great as were the fairways. Can’t complain about the greens. They were clean and rolled great, a bit slow, but made it that more challenging. They need to chop that tree down on 7.

I really can’t complain about a thing when you get to play golf in February. Surprisingly, the course was in really good shape. A few holes had some scattered debris, but nothing that couldn’t be managed. The greens were good, had a bit of speed, but low spots were wet and spongy (not a huge deal). Staff was helpful and friendly throughput the day. I’ve played this course a few times and starting to really enjoy the layout and quirks it has. I will definitely be playing again.

Played this course plenty of times and have really never been disappointed. The conditions are usually ok, the layout is nice and the staff are always pleasant. This day there were some areas in the fairway that were bare and a bit rough. Some of the approaches could’ve been taken care of better, mixes of weeds, grass and dirt. The rough was beaten up with a lot of bare uneven areas that would depress your lie under the actual rough. Now most of the tees were in good shape, some had high grass in spots, but for the most part ok. The greens were the best part of the course. Well maintained, even and rolled very nice. No one on the course when we got out (6:45am), which is always nice. Overall, I would play this course again. Didn’t have a great score, but I will be back to seek revenge.
Thank you for the great feedback! We love hearing from you and are glad you had a good experience. We would love the opportunity to bump those 4 stars to 5. We hope you will come back soon so we can WOW you on your next visit. Until then, take care!

Got out on the course by our assigned tee time. Staff was great, friendly and did everything to help us out. It had rained the night before, pretty heavy storms blew through the area, but the course was ready to go. Cart path only, but drained very well considering all I heard was this course closes the back nine after rain. GolfNow had an 8:33 hotdeal with the 25% discount added onto it. Couldn’t aske for a better deal on a holiday weekend. Beer cart came around often and was very friendly. The one issue I found with the layout of the course is the Turn. Now they do have dogs/burgers/drinks at the shed there. I just found it odd not being near the clubhouse after nine. The holes were challenging, bunkers were hit or miss. Some were pristine and some were full of gravel and not manicured. But what are you going to do after a storm. All in all a really good day and I would go back again anytime. Now here the worst part of the day, we had no one in front or behind us up until the 7th hole. Taking our time, considering shots and strategy and attempting to set up good scores. Also staying within a few minutes of the pace. On the ninth, I’m going to call him Stanley because he looked like a Stanley. Just had to come up and say something about “picking up the pace”. And he was 2 groups behind us. We kept our cool, because he was an old man, but come on!!!! Where do you need to be on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Just a guy who wanted to be that guy, I guess. If I could erase that guy from the round, it would’ve been a perfect day on the course. Thanks Stanley.

Ok, Bachelor Party, Course we grew up on and Groom’s Dad maneuvering between the 3 foursomes. Giving tips, comments and just being Big D. Awesome time no matter what happened. The course was in alright conditions. Some greens a little worse than others. Bunkers were cement and weedy, luckily didn’t spend a lot of time in them. I love this course and will play it anytime. It just always disappoints me because it could be so much more if it had the staff. Pin placement is always in question at Cobbs, but mostly fair this day. Fairways were clean and in decent shape. The new tee box on 17 is a nice view. I’ll play it again this season.

First off let’s note that the area has been under attack with snow for the past 3 weeks. All in all this course was in great shape. Clean and able to drive on the fairways on all but 4 holes. The traps were in rough shape, but I attribute that to weather. Greens were surprisingly fast but fair. You really don’t socialize with the staff at this course. I’ve been there 4 times and have only talked to the gentleman who takes my payment. No starters, no Marshall’s and no drink carts. None of that bothers me, in fact I’d rather go play a round like that. The pace of play was very good, although not a lot of people on the course. There was s a back to back par 3 stretch on 11 & 12 which I can see getting backed up, but not on this round. To sum up, short course, enjoyable and has been an in good shape every time I’ve played. The Hotdeals will keep me coming back.
Cobb's Creek Golf Club - Olde Course
Played On 11/21/2015Everything but the pins.
The course was in good shape and the fairways were very green. The only issue was the Pin placement. It seemed like you had to be Jorden Speith to score on these greens. A lot of the pins were placed in front of the greens and multiple cups were present on the greens. My foursome had multiple putts make the cup, but then gradually roll off the greens and it made it difficult to sink putts. I found this odd, being that there was an outing behind us. Why make the greens that difficult in the winter when the surface is extremely hard and fast anyway. I was happy with the overall conditions of the Olde Course.
In the winter every public course puts 2 holes in greens for the duration of the season. Its too cold to cut new pins every day in frozen ground and the golfer is supposed to switch flags to the alternate hole when you get to the green. This keeps one area from getting beat up

I played this course for the first time and I must say a definite upgrade from its sister course. Course layout was good, holes challenging but scoreable, and overall in very good shape. The one issue is that there is water through the whole course and no markers for distance to the water. It was a guessing game for the entire round. I'm not complaining. I paid $15 to play this course and would have paid more of I new what it had in store.

Great course. Fairways were top notch, bunkers (unfortunately) were in excellent shape and the overall layout was challenging. The greens were aerated, but I'll take the $20 deal to play this course. The staff was very friendly an the grounds crew accommodating with playing through. I hope to play this course when the ground work is complete.

The course was in overall good condition. The greens were very fast and hole placement was hard on this day. The Halfway House was closed an there was no cart service for any food. They did have a $2.00 coke machine though; which was thoughtful of them. I most likely won't play this course unless there is a deal. Can't see spending between $42-54 to play when other courses in the area are a better price and condition. Thank golfnow.com Mainland for my greens fees. Otherwise I would have been at home watching the Phillies.
