Dubsdread Golf Course
Played On 06/19/2022Great morning with Son-in-law
We teed off a little before 8 am and the round took 4.5 hours. The course gets a lot of play but the conditions were better than average.
I ran out of sand to fill divots with after about 12 holes...The group in front of us didn't fill a divot the entire round.
Greens rolled very nicely with lots of slope.
The course is quite enjoyable...you will not hit the same shot twice.
Blueberry Plantation Country Club
Played On 05/22/2022Getting really nice in Alma
I took a group of 12 over to play this past Sunday. The course is 200% better than this time last year.
Fairways were the best at 85...really good coverage, but lots of divots need filling.
Greens were at 70...2 weeks since aerification, needs a top dressing, then these greens will be perfect.
Bunkers were at 75...Weekend mornings should see all bunkers rake and greens mowed first thing.
Rough was at 50... some was ankle deep and others were shin high.
With all the attention on the greens, I can see where the rough and bunkers aren't getting a lot of attention.
Clubhouse has a nice 19th hole bar with very comfortable seating to sit down and pay off your betting debts once the round is down.
Staff was very friendly.
Good selection of snacks, drinks and hot dogs, etc.
I'll be playing the course again soon. Always enjoying playing a course where you get to see improvements every time you visit.
The Blueberry Inn is on property for a stay & play.
The dining is reportedly "OFF THE HOOK" good eating.
Still got to plan a visit with the wife.
You can order fancy lunch for your group from the Inn on certain days of the week...check with the pro shop.

Played On 05/17/2022Great Improvement
First time at the course in over a year. Great improvement to the greens and fairways. Still a few damp spots, but the course is really looking nice. The greens were recently aerifieded and the new growth has almost filled in the holes.
Looking forward to playing again soon.
Brazell's Creek Golf Course
Played On 12/28/2021Taking the guys back
Our group of 7 played 27 today in perfect weather...front, back & front.
The greens are in great shape, although we did average 3 to 4 extra mark repairs per green.
They need a Marshal...lots of unfilled divots in the fairway.
Ran out of sand on the front and no sand jugs at the turn.
The front side is a classic rolling terrain pine tree lined 9 holes.
Pay attention to your tee shot yardages on #5 & #7...too far is trouble.
Lots of dog legs that go one way and the fairways slope the other direction.
The back side is something I want to see in the late spring...South Georgia Links Golf.
Fairways and rough are dormant along with the adjacent hay fields... hard to pick your line when everything is tan in color.
Spent the day aiming at the 150 yd. striped pole
Greens hold approach shots well. Lots of up hill approaches ... add a club.
Looking forward to a return trip.

Played On 11/26/2021Greens are the smoothest around
The course has transitioned into dormant grass in the fairways. Greens are still very firm but are the smoothest I've seen since our groups trip to Robert Trent Jones Trail in Alabama. Worth the drive.

Played On 10/15/2021New Greens are looking good
Tee'd off at 10 and played in 3.5 hours. No rushing.
Tee boxes and fairways are looking very nice.
The new greens are rolling great but beware...the surface is hard.
1 or 2 times being punched and they will be awesome!!!
Aim for the front edge is the way I played the new greens...worked well.
The sand in the sand traps has had a year to settle in and is perfect...yes, I found several.
Looking forward to getting a group up for a full weekend of play.
Pine Forest Country Club
Played On 08/15/2021I will be back
I played the Pine Forest CC course for the first time today.
Local knowledge will take 6 strokes off your score.
Tee boxes need a little work
Fairways were very nice.
Greens rolled smooth and sometime broke sharply!!!
Several cross ditches and carries that you need to pay attention to.
The 280 yard par 4 is a bogey waiting to happen!
Fairways are bordered by HUGE pine trees....not 90% air!!
I look forward to returning.
River at Hampton Cove Golf Course
Played On 05/20/2021Ball Marks and Powder Sand Traps
The views on the course are very welcoming. A course that you are excited when you are standing on the tees.
Fairways were a little thin in areas but very playable. Lots of unfilled divots. We emptied our sand buckets on the front nine.
The sand in the bunkers was powder and there was a lot of them. You couldn't get that "thump" sound that you want when you hit a bunker shot.
The greens were nice but riddled with unfixed ball marks. On average my foursome fixed 8 to 10 ball marks per hole, just to get a smooth line for our putts.
Tip - play an extra club into each hole that looks flat, play two extra for anything that looks uphill.
Rangers should pass out free drink tickets to one person every hour that they spot fixing more than one ball mark or filling divots in the fairways!

Played On 03/26/2021Greens are about to be replaced
The course will be going to temporary greens the first weeks of April. The pro shop person said 3 months before the new greens will be in place. Call before you book to see.
The Golf Club at North Hampton
Played On 03/06/2021Bare Fairways and Bumpy greens
Based on the green fee, I expected so much more from the course. The fairways were 50/50...dirt to grass. The greens had clumps of a different grass growing in them. Made putting a 3 footer impossible. There were several areas of the course that was undergoing renovation. Mostly fairway and green side bunker complexes. I just played them as ground under repair. This is the first time I'd played the course in at least 18 months...probably be that long before I play again.

Played On 10/15/2020Guys Trip...use the Lodge!
We took 12 head for a trip to OCN.
Get in touch with the Director of Golf and they will hook you up with an incredible bargain price...All included, plus breakfast each morning! Courses were in excellent shape. Bunkers, Tees, Fairways and greens...sweet! The lodge set up all of our rooms together, right next to a giant putting green. Lots of time spent "socializing" after our 36 holes of golf. They guys want to make this an annual trip. I think that is our plan!!
St. Johns Golf & Country Club
Played On 09/25/2020Beautiful layout...almost great
Played the course for the first time on Friday in a fund raiser for college scholarships in a Captain's choice format.
Loved the look of the course from the tee boxes. The course has an open feel...the homes set a good distance from the fairways.
The clubhouse and some areas on the course showed ongoing construction. The greens looked to be in transition...they rolled ok, but a lot of unfixed ball marks. The fairways were really thin and several areas were damp.
Lot of areas near the greens showed excessive wear from cart traffic being allowed to drive everywhere.
I will keep and eye on the reviews and wait for the conditions to tic up a little.

Report Card
Tee boxes - 85
Fairways - 90
Greens - 85
Fairway & Green side Bunkers - 100
The course is green!!! Looking great.
Pay attention on the cart paths...there are a couple of heaves that will spill your drink!
Going to enjoy several rounds this week!
Mindbreaker/Heartbreaker at Silver Lakes
Played On 05/02/2020The best greens that I've played in 5 years
Wow!!!
We played all day....8 am to 7 pm on Friday & Saturday for $125 each day.
The courses are daunting when you step to the tee, but once you figure out that the design gives you a large area that is "flattish" to play to on every hole.... The greens are massive. You have to think when you are chipping because a bad chip leads to a quick 3 putt.
The staff was exceptional. We couldn't sit down on the porch due to the Wuhan virus, but next trip...I'm going to enjoy the sunset after a 45 hole day.
Speaking of 45 holes. We played the 3 - 9 holes tracks, Backbreaker is a Beast! Move up 1 set of tees is the best advice I can give you!
We finished off our days by playing the 9 hole short course...twice!!
The only bad part is the 30 minute drive to the closest hotel. Would love to have found a condo or something close to the course to rent for the weekend.
We are already planning our next trip back.

Played On 04/11/2020The guys play all day!
I had all the guys (7) up from Jacksonville for a full day of golf. David and his team had the course in great shape. 36 holes was easy. Lots of golfers out on the course but no slowdown. Greens were rolling smooth and the fairways have grown in nicely. Looking forward to a great summer of golf.
The Lake at Grand National Golf Course
Played On 04/02/2020Always check the weather
The course is exceptional. Rolling terrain gives you some interesting shots. Lots of decisions to make. Greens are very nice. Bunkers are many but the sand is great to hit out of. You can see where RTJ staff is working to improve drainage. The course takes a few days to recover from any rainfall and 2 of the 5 times we've played here over the last 8 years on our golf trips, the course was cart path only. So check weather & call ahead. Walking this course is a test!
Golf Club At South Hampton
Played On 12/31/2019FIX YOUR BALL MARKS
I want to yell at my golfers for a minute.
South Hampton had teams of maintenance crew out work on the course.
The only areas that looked to be in bad shape where the ball marks that hadn't been fixed on the greens and every other bunker I looked in appeared to have been raked by a 5 year old.
My foursome made a point of each fixing 3 ball marks per green and due to a bad day with my approach shots, I got the chance to rake behind several "golfers."
BTW...The greens are rolling sweet and the fairways are really nice.
Lakes Golf Course at Laura Walker State Park
Played On 08/04/2019Course is in sweet shape
Tee boxes are very lush..
Fairways are really nice
Rough has been cut down which helped a lot...thick rough would be a nightmare!!
Bunkers, with rakes are sweet...but, looks like they are letting their waste areas grow back in.
Greens are in sweet shape.
Great time for a South Georgia get-a-way!!

Eagle Landing Golf Club
Played On 05/03/2019Staff put on a great outing...Clay County Chamber of Commerce
The young men who handled the bag drop handled things quite well.
The course was in good shape.
Some of the greens were a little thin as they are coming into summer grass.
Driving range seemed to be under construction...not a lot of grass on the big tee box.
Great venue for a large group outing.
Magnolia Point Golf & Country Club
Played On 04/17/2019Perfect Greens
SURPRISE!!!
The greens are perfect...first time that I have played there where there weren't any bare spots.
I played the combo tees...love the mix of left & right doglegs.
Kayla, Beverage Cart Maiden, was super friendly.
My take on the rest of the course:
The fairways are about 85%...lots of empty divots.
Tee boxes are about 50%
Staff needs to setup some barricades around a few greens and tee boxes.
Several places where golf carts are rutting these areas.
Would also be nice to get a leaf blower to the fairways about once a week.
Some of the cart paths needs some work.
Thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback and hope to see you back again soon.
