We paid our £30 a head greenfees through the app and turned up at the course where the friendly starter advised the course was in far better condition than it had been and that some work had taken place on the greens the day before. I was really looking forward to playing as it had been one of my favourite courses. All went well until we got to the first green. A putt from around 6 feet rolled around 2 before coming to a complete stop in all the excess sand on the green. Unfortunately this was the case on almost all of the greens, with sand lying everywhere making it next to impossible to putt properly. I completely understand the need to top dress the greens, however on most courses the excess sand is swept off making it still possible to putt. This was unfortunately not the case on Saturday. In my opinion the green fees should have been dramatically reduced due to the sand. One other thing were the new buggies at the course. They were great, however £40 is a ridiculous price for an electric buggy.

This is the second time I've played here and it was just as good this time.
Some fantastic holes with greens that were true and fast. On some holes crazy fast.
A few of the fairways at the far end of the course were a bit on the soggy side due to the recent rain, however the greens were great.
The green keeper must have fallen out with his wife the night before as the pin position on the 18th was horrible 😁.
Fantastic haggis fritters in the clubhouse after finished off a great day very nicely.

I'd seen the course on golfnow on numerous occasions but had no idea where it actually was. I found it again when trying to find somewhere to play at short notice mand thought I'd give it a try. I'm delighted I did. The fact rst six holes were great fun and very quirky, before moving on to what I believe are the new holes which were definitely challenging. I can't remember much about the 18th as it was play in the dark time. Will definitely be back to try it again very soon.

Not the first time I've played and definitely won't be the last.
The greens were lightening fast and made any downhill putt a real challenge. I would recommend Pumpherston to any golfer wanting a game on a lovely course in Great condition.

Was pleasantly surprised when I heard the course was open after all of the rain and snow. The course however was in remarkably good condition with very few areas of standing water. We were a bit disappointed though when we finished and tried to get something to eat in the spikes bar. We were told there was next to nothing available other than a bacon roll and we would have to go upstairs to the main bar/lounge. Considering we were covered in mud from the course this was not really an option. I've no idea why we couldn't have simply ordered something from the bar menu and had it brought downstairs. Pretty disappointing from such a major hotel brand.

Nice enough course with a few really good holes. The greens were excellent and receptive. The staff I met out on the course were very friendly and seemed proud of the course. There was a fair amount of off course work going on such as new houses going up and a major road being created that had a bit of a negative effect on the course. However on the whole it was a good morning out

Very disappointed to get to the first green to discover the greens were completely covered in green seed/sand making putting impossible. This should have been noted on the website to allow golfers to make a decision on whether they want to play a round without being able to putt out.

If you get the opportunity to play this course I would definitely recommend that you do so. Plenty of water to catch wayward shots and fantastic greens to putt on.
