This was the second time I’ve played this course on a Tuesday (I usually play on the weekend). Both times the round took 5 hours. It took one hour & ten minutes from teeing off on 16 until we finished at 18. If the pro shop is letting fivesomes out, they need to have marshals on the course to keep play moving. The fivesome ahead of us had two holes open in front of them. When I called the pro shop while waiting on 16, I was told to skip a hole & come back to play the hole skipped - very unrealistic when so many groups were backed up behind us.

The course is very tight so you have to be careful not to hit into golfers entering your fairway due to errant shots. It gets a heavy volume of play but the condition of the course, especially the greens, was very good.

A sign in the pro shop window indicates that Golf Digest selected Alhambra as one of the best courses to play in 2008-2009. I believe that honor should be bestowed today. It's in great shape, friendly staff, good food and even on a Sunday you can get around in about 4 hours.
