Quail Run Golf Club
Played On 03/22/2022Decent day
Fla courses have gotten ridiculously expensive over the past 4-5 years. This is one of the least expensive ones, and that's a relative term. Afternoon tee times are $89. I was able to find a "hot deal" for $72 and then laid a Honey coupon over that so I paid $58.
As to the course, it is in better condition than the last 3 years I have played there. Tee boxes were above avg. Greens were a bit spotty as were the fairways. They have added sand but that's not saying much compared to previous years. I had two sand shots yesterday where it felt there was a decent amount of sand under my ball but when I hit it I hit wet sand 1/2 below the ball. Pretty tough to gauge how to hit the shot given that.
I will return and can recommend it primarily because of it's "relatively" low price. Spanish Wells in nearby Bonita has basically doubled it price from $69 5 years or so ago to $145. If they can get it, good for them. It just won't come from me. I can play 5 rounds back home on a much nicer course for what SW wants for p.m. greens fees.

The cost of golf has gone up quite a bit in the last few years in the Naples area. It has caused me to look around at more affordable alternatives ($79 is relatively affordable in Naples these days in season). We decided to give Quail Run a try. Bag drop staff was very cordial explaining where to go etc. Pro shop staff as well. The course is a little short even from the tips but this was my first round since September so that was fine. Greens were a bit thin in spots and need water.
Couldn't quite figure out why #17 was a Par 5 at 350 yards. I hit a drive and a sand wedge. And I'm 71.
Will likely return. Lunch "special" adds $6 to the cost. May try next time.

Played On 03/28/2019Is there irrigation in Fla?
Played this course maybe 12-15x in the past 3 seasons. Played it 3x in the past 2 weeks. Two weeks ago the fairways and roughs were green and growing, Now they're not. The greens were hard (Badly needed aeration. very hard).
Today? Very windy conditions. Obviously not controllable. However, tee boxes and fairways are getting very dry. I told my playing partner the "greens" are now "breens" (brown greens). Very dry, very hard.
TURN. ON. THE. SPRINKLERS.
Thank you very much for your comments as they were right on. The computer that controls our pump house went down which shut down all of our ability to irrigate for 3 days. We syringed the greens in the afternoons with a portable water tank, however, with the heat and wind this did not do much. The repairs are complete and in 5 days of proper irrigation we were back to normal. Thank you again for choosing us and we hope to see you soon.

Played On 03/14/2019Could be 5 starts, but...
Got off to a tough start. The 3 others that I was supposed to play with were no-shows. Starter put off on a different nine to see if I could catch up with a husband/wife twosome. They were two clueless golfers with zero etiquette. On the first hole the woman took 6 shots to get down from 20 yards off the green. This was after using a GPS sighter to try to figure out which club to use from 20 yards. Couldn't catch up with them as by the time they moved off the green and I holed out they were off the next tee. I finally gave up and another single caught up with me on #3. Very enjoyable gentleman with similar golf skills.
Biggest complaint? The greens are rock hard. Almost impossible to hold a shot, even with a wedge. They need to be softened up by quite a bit.
Thanks for your review. We apologize for the tough start but are glad you enjoyed the rest of your time. We are working hard to improve the customer experience and greatly value your feedback .

Played On 02/28/2019Improved condition, but....
Played the South and East. This is the 3rd year I've played here in the Feb/March time period. The fairways and rough were in the best condition yet. Two gripes. The greens were very hard, and I mean VERY hard. Hit an 8 iron to a par 3. No ball mark. Hit a gap wedge from 100 yards. Hit short of pin, no ball mark, and ball rolled off back of green into second level of rough. I assume they are trying to keep them looking good without pitch marks but the hardness of the greens borders on unfair on approaches. Second grips. #6 on East hole is WAY too tough for an average golfer. Fairway extremely narrow in landing areas and bordered by water on both side. Needs some traps to catch balls that trickle into the water. Would also speed up play on that hole. Last year there were 4 groups on that hole at the same time.
But nice course. Starting to get a little pricey too.

Played On 09/26/2017Good, but...
Second time playing this course. Played in a scramble last year so this was the first time on my own ball. The challenging part of the course when I played was some fairly devious pin placements right behind traps. Okay if you're a 10 or below handicap. Pretty difficult for 11-plus or so. The other difficult was that the greens were very hard. I hit full wedges in on a few holed that barely left a ball mark. Good for keeping the greens looking good but difficult when trying to stop a ball. Two times I git wedges to the green when I "heard" the ball hit the green. I don't think I should be able to "hear" a ball hit the ground from over 100 years away. Good value for the money. Pace was okay. I was a single and got stuck behind two different groups for a hole or so but they were gracious in letting me play through.

Played On 04/24/2017Nice course/good value
Played this course for the first time yesterday. Windy day, and unfirtunately most of the longer holes were into the wind. That's the way it goes. I was a single that had been paired with two others but the pro shop had me go off the back nine by myself. That helped as I played in less than 2.5 hours. Course was still a little bit wet and "rough" in spots due to springtime rains. That's expected. Friendly staff. If memory serves correctly the white tees are around 5600 yards and blues were 6200-plus. Only 200 yards between blue and black. It would be nice if there was a 6000 yard option. Maybe they could do a "hybrid" tee offering on the scorecard to make it so, vs adding more tee boxes.
Thank you for coming out! We are glad to hear you really enjoyed our course and staff. We look forward to you coming back to visit and golf soon!

I had heard a lot of good things about this course so I decided to give it a try. Great layout. A couple of funky holes on the back 9. Welcoming staff. Grrens had recently been aerated and top dressed with sand so putting was difficult. Rough is gnarly and a challenge.
Thank you for reviewing the course. Your feedback about the price of our course is important to us. We always want to make sure we are offering golfers a competitive price for their round. It is our goal to give visitors the best chance to get out and play more. Thank you for playing Quail Run Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
