Timber Creek Golf Course - Lakes/Oaks
Played On 02/21/2022Good for this time of year
Most courses in the Sacramento area get a little choppy this time of year (hence the need for Winter Rules). Fairways/Rough at Timber were no exception. The greens, however, were in excellent shape and quite fast. My only complaint was with the pin placements. Maybe the greenskeeper had a bad night, but many of the pins were placed on top of humps or right next to ledges making putting a real test.
Wildhorse Golf Course
Played On 10/28/2018Nice track, but could be in better shape
Been wanting to play Wildhorse for a few years and finally got the chance. Liked the layout, though the final hole is a pretty difficult, especially in wind. The course condition was not that great. Pro Shop staff were very accommodating, but the guy in the grill was so intent on the one meal he was cooking that we had to wait almost 20 minutes for a pitcher of beer (which we never got before we decided to leave). Also, the Pro Shop has very limited merchandise. Probably won't come back any time soon.
Morgan Creek Golf and Country Club
Played On 10/01/2017Nice layout, rough shape right now
Got out as a single and completed my round walking in < 3 hours in breezy, sunny conditions. This is one of my favorite courses in the area and the greens are always challenging. Unfortunately, the recent hot weather left this course in fairly bad shape...bald spots on the fairways, mushy areas around the greens, and tee boxes were pretty beat up. Hopefully, the upcoming cooler weather will help them recover.
The Lincoln Hills Golf Club - Hills Course
Played On 07/29/2017Mostly my mistake
I should have known better than to try and play a quick round at a Del Webb course. Went as a single and was told the course was wide open. Got stuck behind a twosome (who wouldn't acknowledge me) who were behind a slow foursome. Over 100 degrees and the beverage cart made one appearance and a couple of the water jugs were completely empty. Round took almost 5 hours. Probably won't be going back to Lincoln Hills any time soon.
Eagle Vines Golf Club
Played On 06/17/2014Different setup but nice course
Not really sure about the negative reviews. It was a challenge for me (7 Hdcp) without being too difficult for my son who is a beginner. It looks like they had top-dressed but the greens were still quick and rolled well. Kind of strange that you turn after 8, but not an issue.
