Slow, slow, slow

This course took over 5 1/2 hours to play on a Saturday Afternoon. No player's assistant or others seen to help speed up play. Very ironique that the scorecard states "Expected Pace of Play policy not to exceed 4 hours and 30 minutes will be enforced" Put your money where your mouth is!!
Poor signage between greens and the next tee box - we got lost several times in the desert trying to find the next tee box.
Some of the cart paths were poorly maintained - I've driven on better logging roads.
Only positive of the round (apart from finally finishing) was the friendliness of the refreshment cart person - she also assisted us a couple of times to find the next tee box.
Definitely will not play this course again when I visit the Tucson area.

A nice day in tucsson

Really enjoyed the Rattle and Coyote courses at Starr Pass. A beautiful sunny day with perfect temperatures. Course was in excellent condition and the greens ran true and fast.
The only downfall was one of the players in the group in front of us was very loud, dropping F Bombs after every errant shot (he had lots of them). He was so loud, I think most of the players on the course heard him! Very unpleasant. We approached the group at the clubhouse and his partners were very embarrassed. An unnecessary way to ruin an otherwise perfect day.

Nice course

Perfect weather for this time of the year at Mt. Hood! Hi 70's by the time we finished. Challenging layout, wet from the dew when we tee'd off but the sun dried things out nicely. The greens are a bit slow and uneven but after a couple of holes we got used to it. The only issue is the bunkers - definitely need some TLC.
Clean, newer power cart that even had GPS.

Slow Slow Slow

We teed off at 130 pm and didn't finish until after 630. Fortunately, our reservation for dinner in the clubhouse was held for us.
For a course of this caliber and price one would expect to see a player's assistant to keep the pace moving. At the par 3's when we arrived there was two groups waiting to tee off and one group on the green. The par 4's were not much better.

Course was just OK

Arrived at the course about 45 minutes prior to our tee time. The starter wouldn't let us have a cart as there weren't enough available. We had to wait until the carts were returned from the golfers coming off the course. The cart we got was very run down, the brakes were non existant (I actually hit our playing partners cart a couple of time as I could'nt get the cart to stop!) About the 8th hole the drive train of the cart starting making a grinding noise - a couple of holes it didn't make it up the small hills without getting a run at them. I did tell the staff when I returned the cart but they just laughed.
The course was ok - if you strayed off the fairways, the rough was all dead grass and the ball would roll into the dessert.
On a positive side, the beverage cart person was very friendly.

Very Disappointed

Have played this course on our last visit to the Napa Valley prior to Covid. This is our first post Covid vacation and thought we would try Chardanay again as we enjoyed it last time.
Our experience started out with a very unfriendly person checking us in at the pro shop. He simply handed me the cart keys and said "you can go". I couldn't remember where the first tee box was so had to go back in and ask as there was no other staff around.
The first couple of holes were good, but by number 5 things bogged down. At least a 2 group wait at each tee on every hole. It was so bad, the group in front of us left after 9 holes, We were so fed up that we left after 15 holes. The frustrating things is that the score card clearly stated that the course would terminate your round after three warnings if your group was slow. Where was the Players Assistant/Marshall to enforce this statement??
The on-course bathrooms were very dirty, garbage bins overflowing, no soap, towels or TP!.
I do understand that the region is in a drought and despite that, the fairways and greens were in pretty good condition, I was able to find some grass on the fairways if my ball landed on a bare spot. However the sand traps had lots of small rocks and sand was very hard.
Not worth the green fees even if we paid a Hot Deal price.
A planned nice day in the Napa Valley turned out to be a disappointing afternoon.
We won't be back on our next visit to Napa.

Very Disappointed!

We recently played the course and were extremely disappointed.
This used to be a premier course on the south island but no longer!
The greens appeared to have some sort of "mange" on them - very patchy.
The tee boxes were very beat up and extremely hard to put a tee into.
Some of the fairways had a lot of dry patches while others were so waterlogged that you sunk up to your ankles in water.
The sand traps looked like they haven't been worked on in over a month. Some were very gravely and had stones in them.
Won't be back!

Course has suffered

Nicely laid out course but has suffered since the last time we played. The greens do not run true, very dry making it difficult to putt,, fairways are cut very short and have lots of bare spots. Sand traps are dried out sand and you cannot play out of them as it is like playing off concrete, and of course most of the water hazards didn't have water in them. Is an empty water hazard considered ground under repair if you hit into it? I know the region is in a drought so hopefully when the rains finally come, the course will green up.
We followed a foresome of seniors who were very slow and wouldn't let us play through. We finally skipped a hole just to get past them. From there on the round went very quickly,
Service and food in the clubhouse after the round was excellent - try the Nachos!!!

Hi, u000003259871. Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course is important to us. We are working to get everything up to par. We have projects ongoing to recover the fairways and greens. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game, and we will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing West at Oakmont Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.

Fun Course to Play

This is a fun and challenging course to play with spectacular views of Bodega Bay and the Pacific Ocean from every hole. Once we got used to the rolling fairways and the unforgiving rough we really enjoyed our afternoon, The wind came into play on most holes so our game needed adjusting for that as well.
The course climbs up to the top of a hill with incredible views and finishes along the beach with the ocean a few yards away. Incredible if you like the scenery and terrain changes!

will not be back

We have golfed here many times before, but were very disappointed this time. Pace of play was very slow-the score card clearly states that the pace must be kept up or warnings etc would be issued to the slow players. We did not see the player's assistance once during the entire round!
Sand traps are very inconsistent-one trap the sand was nice and fluffy, another trap was like playing out of gravel-very course and packed sand.
Greens were either slow or fast thus giving poor consistency for reading the green and ball speed.
The par 3 tee boxes are all hacked up with deep divots-hard to find a clean area to tee off.
Had to find the starter as he was in the workshop area talking to other course employees.

Nice surprise

Have seen this course from the highway many times but never stopped to play it.
Very pleased with the condition and layout of the course. Scenery spectacular and comes into play - lakes, large trees, vineyards.
The greens are well manicured and very true.
Except for the construction on #18, really enjoyed playing this course and will play it again over Chardanay which is right next door.
