The course is generally in nice shape and the greens are great. One bunker I found my ball in was filled with small stones as well as sand which was quite disappointing.
Very friendly staff too.
A beast of a golf course and a credit to Mr. Nicklaus.

I have played this course several times over the last 12 months and love it. It’s a difficult course to play and has lots of water. If you miss your aim point you need to miss in the right spots to give you a chance to make up and down. Loads of fun.
Only one criticism this last time was one bunker had stones in amongst the sand but other than that it’s in great shape.
I will play here again whenever I can.

I have found my favorite course on Hilton Head Island. The layout is great with just the right amount of tough holes to keep even the lowest handicappers happy. I will be back very soon to play again.

Extremely disappointing. This course clearly was a gem when it was designed and built but it must have fallen on hard times recently. Poorly maintained making it feel like a bad municipal course rather than the classic track that it was in the past.
Hopefully things improve again soon.
With so many courses in the area each one needs to be kept well to keep up and attract players. Sorry for the bad review, but honest opinion.

I was pleasantly surprised to be allowed out alone to play today. The course was not really full so the pace of play was also nice. One or two of the greens were a bit patchy but generally good.
The layout is fair but there are a couple of tricky holes if you don’t put your ball in the right spot off the tee.
I will be back again soon.

The course is a good layout with several interesting tougher holes. Generally not much rough and easy to find your ball.
Greens were pretty slow today which was not what I was expecting.
I will definitely play here again especially if GolfNow has a hot deal like today.

The course is a great one with several tricky holes and lots of water. It is also a fair course and can be played by all levels of player.
One or two of the greens were not in the best shape today.

The course generally was in good condition but some of the greens are still suffering damage from last year.

I love the course but the greens do spoil the experience a little.

Willow Creek used to be one of the best courses in the area. Currently there are several issues that have changed my mind about this.

1) The greens have suffered from Winter Kill and are in a poor condition. Apparently no plan to fix it until next year.

2) some of the bunkers don’t have sand in them or are in poor condition.

3) the Rough is too deep. We all lost several balls in the rough as it was much deeper than the ball diameter making it almost impossible to find them.

I used to be a member of The Preserve at Verdae for several years but canceled it once they were having some major renovations to the drainage on the course. Just after that they had started to grow out the rough areas calling them ‘native areas’ in order to conserve water and change the look. I didn’t like that at all.
Since the BMW pro am was held at the course last year I have played at The Preserve a couple of times and found it to be once again in great condition and fun to play. It is probably the most challenging course in the area but a good test for any level of golfer and fair. I will definitely be back again soon.

An interesting set up with three 9 hole courses. The day we played was cart path only due to the rain. The only criticism is that the bunker drains are clearly blocked on some holes as they were full of water.
Greens in great shape and the general condition of the course is good. I will definitely play there again

I have played Links O Tryon many times but never with the greens in such terrible condition. Every one of the 18 greens have large dead areas where there is no grass at all. On some greens they have laid sod on some parts of the green but left large areas without doing anything. All the greens need to be redone with new sod if I am ever going to play there again. Sad, as it used to be my favorite course in the area.

Our threesome likes Willow Creek as the layout is fun and not too difficult to get around.
The pace of play yesterday was horrible as we got stuck behind two guys and what appeared to be their daughters who had no idea how to play at all. The guys took so much time on their own shots and the course got all backed up. A round that would normally take us 3 1/2 hours to play took 4 1/2 hours and was extremely frustrating. No rangers to push them along and no offer to let us play through.
Also on the par 5 15th hole there seemed to be a war going on in someone’s backyard with rapid firing guns. A little disconcerting on the second shot I can tell you.
All this being said we will be back sooner rather than later.

First time playing the Wild Dunes Links course. A Fazio course that I believe he designed with better golfers in mind. There are some really funky holes like no 10, a short par 4 that is guaranteed to bamboozle even the best golfer with its elevation and sloped fairway.
17 and 18 are the only two ocean holes but were playing really hard on Sunday due to high wind off the ocean.
I will definitely play there again given the opportnity

The course is interesting and fun to play. Very open with little rough around the fairways offering a very Links style track. Some of the holes are extremely challenging especially if the wind is strong like it was when we played.

The course was in a surprisingly good condition considering the fall leaves and the lack of rain. There are some really fun holes on this course and the greens are PGA fast. We got paired with a couple of medical guys too who were great fun. We will be back.

Fox Run Club House and Range leave a bit to be desired but the course is really nice for the price. Some challenging holes with water and generally a nice place to play. I would recommend this course to anyone.
