Murphy Creek Golf Course
Played On 10/01/2019no place like HOMEcourse
When a track is good enough to hold a Public Links event, it definitely is good enough to call a home course! I absolutely love this place. One of the better practice facilities in the Denver metro with an all grass range, technical short game area with bunker and chipping greens, a very large putting green that coincides well with the regulation surfaces, and a rare wedge shot area for practicing inside 80yards to two different greens. However, none of this will prepare you enough for the inevitable winds that seem to magically change at every turn in the south corner of the property and a prevailing wind that makes 15-17 a stretch to think about before the round even starts! You can play this course 3 days in a row and have 3 different experiences. Sight lines off the tee are fair but it takes a round or two to understand the right plays. Greens can be a bit rough coming out of winter but are fantastic peak season. #9 is one of the best short par4s in the metro but will have you scratching your head for sure the first time and you can cry on your scorecard over a cold beer and a delicious menu at Murphy's Tavern when you finish!
Todd Creek Golf Club
Played On 03/11/2018solid track, great value
I've played here 4 times now and really like this Arthur Hills layout. Full length course with many tee options, every shot is in front of you with an emphasis on shot making but not overly difficult if you get off line, however, the greens are very tricky and proximity to the hole should be offset by a solid short game to keep scores down. This course sits on an active adult community so its always a fast, quiet round in the afternoon!

Second time playing this course and I honestly believe it's one of the better values in the area. The backdrop and views rival some of the top100 courses I've played and the layout is very well done. Links style course in the gorge. The greens were punched this time and there wasn't a notice but I understand it's October and they weren't terrible but last time I played here they were really good and I look forward to playing many more times.
Indian Valley Golf Club
Played On 09/11/2015Decent track
Decent quirky track. Has some fun elevation changes and holes but a handful of stupid blind shots. Nice lakeside setting and not bad shape for the drought but not worth the price of admission in my opinion but that's Marin for ya.
Rio Vista Golf Club
Played On 06/12/2015Decent layout, terrible conditions
This track was probably awesome when it was brand new but I don't think it's been maintained since! Fairway bunkers looked like something out of Chernobyl, half the greens had some of the worst fungus patches I've ever seen and fairways were beat up. The design is pretty solid and challenging from the tips and some of the greens were really nice but other than that it needs a lot of help
Thanks for playing Rio Vista and leaving your comments. We have owned the course for 15 months and feel like we have made some major strides at Rio Vista. What you see on the greens is our effort to eradicate pineapple weed. It doesn't look great when you are removing it but in a short time, the greens will be weed free and much better to putt on. The bunkers are still something we need to address and we are aware of the problem. Please stick with us and we think you will continue to see more and more improvement over time - RyanS, Warrior Golf

One of the better tracks in the tri valley. Always in great shape and a fair challenge.
Coyote Creek Golf Club - The Tournament Course
Played On 08/27/2014Nice to see
I golf about every week in the Bay Area and have a single digit index and it was a breath of fresh air to play this course. Most California courses are suffering from the drought and I can definitely understand that but it's about how you manage the water that matters. The tournament course was very well manicured from tee to green and the challenge in simplicity of the layout was fantastic. It's a tough course from the further tees in the wind(which seemed to be a consistent feature) but a realistic test. I'll play here again for sure, maybe just on hot deals though bc I'm California broke and it is a jack signature course!
The Lakes Course at Red Hawk
Played On 4/21/2013Pleasantly surprised
You never know what you're going to get when you play on vacation but this "resort" was definitely above par. If the conditons are this good early spring I'm eager to come back and play the Hills course since the Lakes was awesome. Very challenging round from the blue tees in solid 10-20 winds, lots of water and decision making but the GPS was perfect and course amenities were great. Hit a backup on the back 9 but I'm pleased all the way around.
