Magnolia Point Golf & Country Club
Played On 02/10/2021Wan to play again
This was our first time playing here. The staff in the Pro shop and the starter were very friendly. The starter explained that the course was extremely wet due to the last couple of rainfalls. We were limited to the cart paths (which did not cover the entire course) and the rough. He suggested my wife play from the gold tees rather than the red tees if she was a short hitter. Because of the wet conditions, there would not be much roll on a drive and she’d probably have a more enjoyable game. He was correct. We also chatted with the marshal, Dave, several times along our 18 holes. He also was informative and interesting to chat with. There are five sets of tees as well as a couple of combo circuits available. The actual fairways seemed narrow but with the generous, short cut rough, they presented no problems. The greens were immaculate, just a bit slow because of the moisture. They were not totally flat but were not unfairly contoured. The course winds through woodland, march and a development. There are some elevation changes along the way, unusual for Florida. It was very wet, especially the back nine. Despite the conditions, we told Dave we would be back again under drier conditions. We enjoyed playing the course. 2-10-2021
Pine Lakes Golf Club
Played On 02/04/2021Lots of bunkers
Our first time on this Arnold Palmer designed course. We were met in the parking lot by starter Steve with a cart for us. He loaded us up and we went into the clubhouse. Nice place and friendly staff. The dining area looked good as did the pro shop. We were on our way shortly after arriving. There are four sets of tees available, adequate for most handicaps. Fairways are generous but are very tight. Water is not a significant problem, neither are carries. The course winds through a developed area but it’s not an overwhelming feeling. The greens are very fast and undulating. As with the typical Palmer design, there are many troublesome bunkers and it’s not a good course for a bump and run to the flag. We enjoyed our day despite my sand issues! 2-4-2021

This was our first time playing here. Several golfers that I have played with said it is a nice course to play. They were correct. The pro shop staff is very friendly and our starter, Bill, was very helpful. There are several tees so a golfer of any level of experience can be comfortable playing here. The fairways at nicely tended and the green are very fast and true. There are a few water carries, depending upon which tees you play from. Water hazards themselves are really not an issue. There are sand traps galore. I would not advise walking the course. It meanders through neighborhoods, roadways, and wetlands.

My neighbor and I played here twice so far this month (August). I's our first visit in just about 4 years. Both days were very hot and humid. The staff are friendly and check-in went smoothly. There are several tees to choose from so you can select a distance right for your handicap. The fairways are in fine shape. The greens had been aerated and sanded a bit ago and were still a bit bumpy but otherwise in good condition. The course is surrounded by huge old growth oaks so there is plenty of shade available. There are several "fun" holes - I’ll let you discover them. There are an abundant number of bunkers and water throughout the course. Also, an abundance of geese. Pace of play both times was good.8-18-2020
