Typical Resort Course

We played the Reserve earlier in the week and were hoping the Legends would be a step above, as we had heard it would be. While the layout was better than the Reserve, the course conditions overall, in particular the greens, left some things to be desired. I think they had just been aerated earlier in the month, but there was little evidence of the plugs. However, the grass was very long and made putting a fiasco.

Pace of play was slow - there was a fivesome 2 groups in front of us that held up a whole litany of groups around me. The course ranger bemoaned the fact the starter let a fivesome out. Not good.

For the price we paid ($50 plus fees and taxes) this was not great value. I highly recommend Orange County National Panther Lakes or Champions Gate Country Club well above The Legends.

Fantastic Value!

This course will become private eventually. If you don't plan on joining, I recommend you playing it now while you have the chance.

We struggled to find the course a bit, but once we found it we were very pleased we did. The current clubhouse is very nondescript, but ultimately it will be replaced with something more fitting the course I'm sure. We checked in quickly, and were ushered to the tee immediately. And from there, things just got better.

The course conditions were impeccable. Tees, fairways and greens were all top notch. Greens rolled true and fast for Florida in the dead of summer. We played as a twosome, and finished our round in 3:20.

There are plenty of tee box choices to give any golfer either a fun day or a challenge. We played the 6,000 yard tees and found it to be perfect for me and my 16 year old son.

My only complaint was the dearth of bunker rakes. There are plenty of LARGE bunkers on this course, and unless your ball happened to end up near one of the two rakes per bunker you may have a long walk to get your utensil then return to your ball.

Overall, the best value I have seen in the Orlando area thus far!

Good overall but not spectacular

Played on a Golfnow HotDeal for $17 plus fees and taxes per player. For that price the course was a fantastic value. Holes were not overly difficult. A fairly short course overall but that is what I think the intention is - an easier resort style course than the Legends. We played in 3:20, rarely waiting. Tee conditions were okay, fairways and greens were good. Admittedly the villas are in some cases pretty close to the fairways which I don't like. But overall, a great day.

Aeration

Was looking forward to playing this course with my son and father. Prior to arriving I was telling my son how challenging and fast the greens can be. Imagine my dismay when I discovered the practice green was shaggy and aerated. The starter confirmed all greens were aerated a few days earlier. No mention of this on the Golfnow site - I am pretty sure this normally shows up.

Grey Silo is always in great condition and, the greens notwithstanding, same thing during our round. Pace of play was very good - we only waited a few times and rarely held up the 3some behind us.

I will return but will definitely call ahead to confirm greens condition.

Simple Course, Good Value

Played this course for probably the 20th time in my life. Check in was smooth and easy. Starter accommodated a request we had and we were off. Conditions were very good (lots of rain lately). We were a twosome and yet didn't have to wait more than once or twice for more than a few minutes to hit our next shots. Overall this is a very simple, straightforward course that golfers of all skill levels can play.

Nice Early Season Round

Played the Blue to White 9's. Course condition was fine considering the tough winter it had to weather. Some patchy spots on the fairways and greens, as would be expected.

Pro shop sign in was quick and easy. Had our bags on a cart and to the practice green within 5 minutes of showing up.

Finished 18 in about 4:10. Good pace.

Would and will return.

About What I Expected

I had not played Beaverdale for close to 10 years. When a Golfnow hot deal popped up I figured I would try it out as a late year bonus round. I wondered if the GolfNorth ownership change some years ago would have made a difference....

Unfortunately the course conditions left me wondering if I should have tried somewhere else. Tee boxes were beat up - it looked like the tee markers had not been moved for weeks. A few tee boxes were closed for what looked like repair / resodding. Greens were ok. Fairways in many places had very bare grass, perhaps due to the heavy tree cover.

The course was and still is famous for how tightly many holes are crammed together. To say one could feel unsafe in the central hub where holes 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12 and 13 congregate is an understatement. I almost hit someone with a slightly errant tee shot, and the favor was returned graciously later in the round.

I had less than fond memories of the course from my youth, and unfortunately the course has not improved. For the price I paid it was worth a try, but I won't be going back. If you're in the area try Brookfield across the road from Beaverdale - not a great course either but much better conditions.

Value for the right price

Got a Hot Deal on Golfnow that made it hard to pass up. Had read some reviews earlier that suggested this course may not be worth the drive from Myrtle Beach. They were wrong.

The good : greens and fairways were in good shape. I expected worse. The bad: tee boxes were overgrown and bunkers had almost no sand. The horrible: cart paths were unbelievably rough to drive on. Starter actually warned us to check our bag straps on the cart occasionally as the bumps on the path can dislodge things.

My son and I played 18 holes in 3 hours. Felt like out own course.

Pro shop and snack bar attendants were extremely friendly and helpful.

Bottom line: the financial strains the course is under are showing in some ways, but given the rates available on Golfnow I felt it was great value for our money.

Short holes, long waits.

2nd time playing the course. An interesting mix of short par 3's and 4's, and some pretty tough holes. Greens were in great condition, fairways and tee boxes average.

Worst part of the day was having to wait for a few minutes on essentially every shot. I didn't see a Marshall out all day. Pace of play was an issue.

Also, getting from the green to the next tee box can be extremely confusing to new players on a few holes. Better signage needed to guide you along, which may help pace of play.

Good value, nice staff

2nd time playing the course. Course conditions were very good, and given this summer's weather in Southern Ontario that is the minimum people are expecting. Staff were very friendly and efficient - pro shop checkin took about 3 minutes including getting cart keys distributed.

Pace of play was slower than I would have liked. We were 2:20 on the front nine and about the same on the back.

Layout is very nice, with lots of elevation change and holes that wind their way through farmland and other nice scenery. What I really don't like about the course is the number of blind tee shots you have. Both tough to play and makes you feel a bit unsafe.

Overall a good value at the Golfnow rate I paid. Would not pay full rate however.

Awesome overall experience

We stayed in a villa on this course for a week in August. We played 3 times. All 3 times got the Hot Deal on Golfnow.com. Pro shop staff were extremely accommodating - let us tee off earlier than the Hot Deal time each day. Pace of play was great. Under 4 hours for each of the 3 rounds. Bar / lounge staff also extremely friendly and ready to help.

Course condition was fantastic (we had stayed/played there in April in the past and condition was as expected not as good). I'll be going back again.
