Palms Golf Club

The staff was very friendly and helpful, but everything else about this course irritated me. The main driveway is a road from a third-world country and hasn't seen maintenance in probably a decade. The pace of play took over 5-hours on a mid-morning Monday in March. Weeds and bare spots are everywhere while other nearby courses were lush and green - and I mean EVERYWHERE. It looked sad. I would have assumed the course had been abandoned if the parking lot wasn't full of cars. The front 9 is forgettable. The back 9 supposedly goes through a "canyon" but really is just a couple holes that go up then go down and then you play in a riverbed with bare spots and weeds - did I mention the bare spots and weeds? It's definitely not a canyon.
We played Conestoga the day before we played the Palms and may have been spoiled by actual grass and green golf-like conditions. In the Denver area this course would struggle to stay in business and wouldn't be able to charge more than $30 for a green's fee. It's a goat-track on life-support and definitely won't be on the to-play list the next time we're in Mesquite. It was a waste of my time and money and I was in a hurry to get out of there.

I was surprised how nice the conditions were. They are definitely one of the greenest around at the moment. Greens looked good and rolled well. Everything was just in great shape. I enjoyed the round a lot.
Deer Creek Golf Club at Meadow Ranch

Other reviews for this course had me worried, but it wasn't bad. I don't feel that this course needs to be in my regular rotation, but it was a decent round of golf. We used a golfnow deal for a Friday afternoon and paid $45 with cart. The greens were in great shape, the course was in decent condition for April, and the pace of play was excellent for a Friday afternoon. We finished in less than 4 hours.
The clubhouse was pretty bare, but I wasn't there to buy shirts and hats. And the course charges $10 for a large bucket of beat up range balls off of mats. Other than that, I enjoyed it more than playing a typical crowded muni on a Friday afternoon. Hopefully they can stay in business. I'll play it again later in the summer.
Front 9 is tight and will eat lots of balls if you're not driving it straight. The back runs through a neighborhood and is much more enjoyable.
Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club

The weather was beautiful, the views were nice, and the location is great. However, I don't think they knew we were coming. We booked through golfnow but when we showed up they had a tournament going on. They fit us in where they could and we played 2 different back 9's. It just seemed very disorganized despite having 3 or 4 people in the pro-shop and 3 down near the starter's shack.
The conditions were ok. The greens were a little tricked up, but it's the course's only defense.
The driving range was beat up and crowded. And the course just didn't have any memorable holes. It was pretty plain.
Play it if you can't find a tee time somewhere else, but I wouldn't make it your first choice.
