Played On 04/16/2023Some holes that are silly narrow but the greens were in good enough shape and very tiny. Got let through by multiple groups so pace of play was ideal. Lots done to accommodate a quick round by kind staff and other groups out on the course. The layout could be frustrating for a higher handicapper with issues spraying the ball off the tee who is trying to improve, but it’s a course that gets the job done when you need to get out and play some golf and aren’t picky about where or how well.

Played On 09/01/2022Great greens, turf is well cared for, never a quick round
Black brook is nice because it’s well cared for, made more impressive by how much play they get. Get out early and it makes for a great round.

Amazed at conditions for the price. Great value during the week and you beat the rush teeing off before 2. A couple of older groups were slow to let through faster twosomes which made the back take twice as long as the front, but can’t say I’m surprised by that happening. Couple of the par 5s play like par 4.5’s but not complaining about an “extra”‘birdie. Short for a par 72. Bottom line: They care about the conditions, wish I would’ve tried playing here before.

Played On 07/14/2021lots of carelessness
We came to play Briarwood on a Wednesday afternoon as a bit of a last resort in trying to find somewhere that would let us play 18. Wednesday is a big day for leagues for most courses my friends and I frequent, and that is no different at Briarwood. However (!), what sets Briarwood apart was their carelessness to not let us know about the league or to correctly update their tee sheet online/reservation system to reflect that we really had no ability to make the turn. They had no business even taking our reservation for 18. After a relatively normal pace front nine, We hit a wall on #11 with three groups on each hole throughout the entire back nine. The course was simply overbooked. Their carelessness was also evident by the fact that they couldn't bother to have play limited to carts on the path after the significant rainfall we've had. There were tire ruts in the middle of the fairway because of the mud which would be surprising if it didn't cause medium or long term damage to the turf. At $46 for layout and conditions, this is the worst value in golf I have encountered anywhere in the northern half of the state. I am sympathetic to the financial challenges of maintaining a course, but have never seen a more blatant example of counting dollars and not putting anything back into the course.

Played On 10/11/2021Back nine much tougher
Holes 10-13 is a tough stretch. Cool layout in very good shape for late in the season. Back nine is tighter and greens and trickier. Would come back in a heartbeat. Tough time on the greens but that is more error operator than course layout

Played On 09/11/2020A foursome that wound up being very slow teed off the tenth tee while we were on the ninth green about to make the turn and the staff was neither apologetic nor willing to do anything to improve pace of play. They had 1 to 2 full holes open in front of them, backing up 5 groups after ours with daylight fading.
As far as layout and condition goes, the course was lush. The slopes of the greens were severe, but made much more manageable by the greens being on the slower side but still smooth. At $34 for riding 18 on a weekday afternoon, this is a respectable value, but the awful pace of play on the back nine and complete indifference from the staff left a pretty bad taste.

Can be tough around the greens, especially above the hole. A well maintained true test of scoring
