Village Greens Golf Course
Played On 4/21/2013Great beginner course or short game practice
Village Greens is a great beginner course because most the holes are short, but it is still challenging for most bogey golfers because of the tight fairways, large trees, and small greens. It's a great course for anyone to work on their short game, and you can walk 18 in about 2-1/2 hours. Don't come out here with expectations to use your driver much (although there are a couple opportunities). My wife and I really enjoy this course, it's fun to play and well maintained. Also has a decent driving range and chipping/putting practice greens.
Tyee Valley Golf Club
Played On 4/20/2013Best deal around!
I walked 18 at this course last Saturday morning for $12 (regular price)! I'm not sure if you can play golf cheaper than that anywhere in Washington without a special deal. The course used to be 18 holes but was cut back to 9 due to Seatac airport expansion several years ago. That being said, there are seperate tee blocks for the front and back nine, and some are significantly different (i.e. hole#8 is approx 140-yd par-3, but hole#17 is closer to a 300-yd par-4). The course is not fancy, but maintained well enough that it shouldn't impact your play; and the layout is challenging. The only way to get good at golf is to play a lot of golf, and Tyee makes that acheivable even if you don't have lots of cash, so I give them 5 stars for the overall value!
McCormick Woods Golf Course
Played On 4/14/2013Beautiful, challenging course!
McCormick Woods is beautiful and challenging. The fairways play long and tight, and no fairway borders another fairway, so this course will make you a better golfer. The beauty of the course is both natural (cut out of a hilly forrest, deer wandering through) and due to impeccable maintenance (it really is pristine). Even when I'm having a bad golf day on the course the scenery at McCormick is so amazing that I always have a great time.
